Hope you and your family made it through the night safe and dry. I'm guessing you either don't have power or are still asleep. Really hope everyone who was forced to stay behind got through the storm alright.
As an aside - saw Bush gloating this morning about how wonderfully prepared his government was, how well they've handled Rita, and how well everyone did moving people to safety, etc. I can tell you, if I lived in New Orleans right now I'd be spitting mad. That is, if I was still alive.

Doing fine, thanks! There are some really damaged areas in Houston & Galveston, but they are very widely scattered & spotty. A few really weird fires, though, apparently caused by exploding electrical transformers.
Incidentally, in case anyone is wondering, the evacuation routes that went so wrong (for any number of reasons) were FEMA plans:

(Look under the weather radar at the "Evacuation Routes" links.)
And I was SO pissed yesterday to see the FEMA news conferences where they were in full CYA mode, describing what assets they had in place, a laundry list of teams ready to go, etc., INSTEAD of giving people actual information on what to do if they were stranded on a highway out of gas, or in the path of storm surge or tornadoes, or... Maybe that's not technically their job, but it was so obviously political it just rubbed me the wrong way that they would waste airtime on that when people needed real advice and guidance.

Glad to hear you're okay - and have power!
It must be just infuriating watching FEMA/Bush gloating away. Again, they clearly fell short.

I'm so relieved that you're all right today, Chuck. :xoxo:
I hope all of our Ledgies in Rita's path are also safe and sound.
