What TV characters ,that they introduced into a TV show, you think RUINED the show, or weren't needed? These are the ones I just can't stand:
1. Oliver - Brady Bunch
2. Col. Flag - MASH
3. The stuiped British Col. (forget the name) on Hogans Hero's
4. Ernest T. Bass - Andy Grifith Show
Any others?

Children/babies. In any sitcom. Except the Brady Bunch of course. Agreed on Oliver. What an ugly little squint that kid was. :p I have a feeling Doug and Carrie will end up spawning fairly soon on "King of Queens" as Jerry Stiller is spending less time on the show. Those uggo twins and the snotty little girl-brat on "Raymond" were pretty much non-entities anyway. They could have had them all "disapeared" in some sort of pudding-poisoning incident at school and I'd have been none the wiser.

Kirstie Alley - Cheers
Albert - Little House on the Prairie (yes, I loved that show!)
Sandra Bernhardt, the women in the mall diner where Roseanne worked, Darlene's and Becky's boyfriends - Roseanne
Olivia (Raven Symone), the oldest Cosby daughter and her husband - Cosby Show
All I can think of off the top of my head... I'm sure I'll think of more.

The addition of Cousin Pam on Cosby. Bleh!! I think Geri Jewell was pretty bad on "The Facts of Life" too. It was just too much an in your face "hire the handicapped" crusade. She wasn't that good, and she wasn't that funny, or I may have enjoyed her character. Instead, I just felt really uncomfortable. She didn't fit in at all, no matter how much you wanted her to. :distress:

Have to agree with you on that one. Didn't like that character either.

This is a little "OT" but I think John Amos leaving "Good Times" changed the show. And then of course Esther Rolle split, and came back. I loved Janet Jackson as "Penny". She was so cute. But I loathed Thelma's husband.

I try to forget about those years. Stop reminding me about them.
As soon as John Amos left, it was unwatchable. By the time Thelma was about to marry Ebay the African Prince, I couldn't continue watching. Without that full family dynamic, it simply wasn't good. It didn't help that it turned into The JJ Show, either. And don't even get me started on Penny...oy vey.

Yeah! I actually had to turn on my closed-captioning to see if they were really saying "Ebay." I think they spelled it "Ebe". It still made me laugh. :D

Olivia (Raven Symone), the oldest Cosby daughter and her husband - Cosby Show
.
The oldest Huxtable daughter is Sondra. Hubbie Elvin. Olivia's Mom and Dad were Denise and Martin and they bored the hell outta me. Sondra and Elvin were always fighting and it made them more realistic. :D

Just thought of a couple more. The addition of "Theresa" the hospital nurse who gets invited to be a boarder at Archie and Ediths' house. This is after Mike and Gloria have left for CA. She vanishes pretty quickly, thankfully. Then a bit later, (once again in sitcomland when they start running low on plot ideas), we get "The Kid" in the form of Stephanie.

More:
-Rosie O'Donnell on "Gimme A Break"
-John Meese replacing Jake Weber on "American Gothic"
-Farrah Forke on "Wings" (but they got rid of her right quick, thankfully)

B.J. Hunicutt on M*A*S*H. Just his name "B.J." made me squirm. And giggle. I always thought he was a whimp. And then they gave him his little "cheats on beloved wife" ep and that was just WAY too silly. Good Ol BEEEEJ would NEVER do that. :p

Miss Parker's brother, Lyle, on The Pretender. One family connection too many in that show.
Frasier's upstairs neighbour. Was never funny.
The nerdy boy in the Simpsons - not Martin... 'Data' or 'Calculator' or something. Speaks in the most annoying voice and just has dumb lines.

I don't know if anyone has seen Charmed, but it sucks now that Paige (Rose McGowan is on). It was actually a really good show when Shannen Doherty's character, Prue, was on the show.

Yes, though it was a tiny double entendre - it started going waaaay downhill when they brought on all those extra characters like, bless her heart, Diane Cannon - have you ever been to her website? Go, it is more than a little scary as her "laugh" greets you :ek:

Totally agreeing with you there, there was just something about Prue I liked so much more. A lot of people I know say the same thing too.

227 ended when Jackee left. That show was NOTHING without her, and Pearl.
The last season sucked from what I remember, Jackee was gone and they had some silly ass white guy, and some other character's I didn't care for.

I used to watch that show for the first 3 seasons. Then they moved the night or something and I lost interest in it.

sondra & elvin had twins, this entire show bugged me, it was just too damned clean cut, especially when it came out that bill cosby, who hasn't been shy about preaching total wholesomeness, was brought to light as an adulterer~ i mean i have the brady bunch for that  ~ tho i will forever be sad that bill's son ennis was murdered like he was~

When Delta Burke and Jean Smart left Designing Women and their cousins (played by Jan Hooks and Julia Duffy) came on the show. I couldn't stand either one of them! I felt like scratching my eyes out the few times I watched the show after they joined.
1. Oliver - Brady Bunch
Always the kiss of death when they introduce a supposedly "younger, cuter" kid on a show when the other kids have gotten "old" and aren't so "cute" anymore. Didn't they do the same thing on the Partridge family? I think that kid was called Ricky... he drove me nuts!

Oh I didn't mind Doggett much. I think it was inevitable. I would never have given up season 8. I needed that last ep of season 8 kiss or I would have never felt fullfilled!
Season 9-the Doggett and Reyes show, now that sucked. CC was so desperate to keep the show going..but it just got very weak. AG and RP are good actors and I enjoy them immensely but they just ARE NOT GA and DD you know? Who is tho??

I think I remember him. I know there were two different little boys that played Chris in the series. The first was cute the second not so cute. I think that Dick Sargent never worked out well in "Bewitched". He was always very mean to Sam, and he was a real stiff. Then we had the "new" Mrs. Kravitz and she didn't hold a candle to Alice Pierce "ABBBB-NAHH!!!!! "

No way! ;) I had a huge crush on the second Chris. I even asked for a drum set one Christmas. Of course, I've always had different taste in boys/men than most. David Cassidy was the heart-throb on that show, and I liked the little brother, Chris! I also had a huge crush on Peter Brady, while most of my friends liked Greg. I liked Parker Stevenson over David Cassidy on the Hardy Boys. I liked Paul Michael Glaser over David Soul on Starsky & Hutch. I could go on and on!
Talking about Star Trek: Enterprise. Entire cast. Entire show. barf.

Any of the "Chrissy" replacements on Three's Company. I know it was Somers' antics that got her fired, but the show wasn't the same after she left.
"Warren" on the Andy Griffith Show. There's no Andy Griffith show without Barney.

I liked Voyager too. I got the entire series Used on dvd.
On a side note, I have a HUGE crush on Wesley Crusher. He was hot right before he left the series...when he was legal...
I never cared for Mary McCormack (Kate Harper) on The West Wing. I don't think she ruined the show, but she was introduced with little development and BAM, she was right in the thick of things. Any other character introduced on the show was given a nice little arc for development. That is one of the nice things about the show.
(Also the Angela Blake character)

3's Company: Mr. Furley. He's somewhat funny but his jokes just don't stack up to the Roper's sexual banter. Some of Helen Ropers lines about Mr. Roper's impotence is just some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen on TV.

I hated him too, then I thought his character was the indication on why Capt. Picard was afraid to get closer to Dr. Crusher. :p

Yasmine Bleeth (or however the hell you spell that twit's name) as Kaitlyn Cross on Nash Bridges (yes, I watched that show. RELIGIOUSLY. Still hoping it'll be out on DVD.)
Though I suppose what really ruined that show was when they killed off Evan (Jaime P. Gomez) and took away my eye candy. Poor guy. First he gets shot in the balls the night before his wedding to the boss's daughter (He got caught cheating and in the confusion his gun went off and served as sort of poetic justice), then he gets kicked off the force, then he shacks up with a hooker, then he finds God, gets his job back, wins back the love of his fiance and gets himself killed in the line of duty.
I can't even remember the name of the actor or the character that was brought on to replace him.

The new "John Boy" on The Waltons was just ridiculous. I don't remember bothering to watch any of those eps. I think the show jumped the shark with the death of Will Geer (Who was gay!! Not that it....) and then Ellen Corby had the stroke, and I was pained to see her struggling trying to communicate. :(

Captain Janeway indeed, one of my biggest tv-crushes :D I loved TNG too, I guess the writing was better for that show than Voyager. But Voyager had great action scenes and technical effects and Seven of Nine and Janeway constantly secretly flirting with each other *big grin*
