There are a lot of smart people here on this board so I thought I'd ask an odd electronics (?) type question.

My Mom called me a short time ago and said she was all hunkered down to watch "Lost" last night and it was coming in in SPANISH on her TV. She did not have the remote programmed for Spanish, 'cause, well...she speaks English. Not only that, but all the commercials and other shows were coming in in English. She called her cable co. and they blamed it on her remote. She called ABC and they also said it was her remote. It's not her remote. Any ideas?? I can assure you that Mom's still got all her marbles, so it's not that! :)

Many cable companies have programming in Spanish on alternate channels. make sure she was tuned it the correct channel. It usually says something like ABC-ESPANOL or something like that.

She was on the right channel. ABC is just channel 7 at her house. No alternates. NEXT!! LOL!! (Thanks for your imput though! )

A friend told me that her TV can be flipped to look for Spanish instead of English. So, look to make sure the TV is on the First Audio Program instead of the Second Audio Program (SAP) Look on the remote in the CC section or in the actual audio set up - Also the remote could have an SAP button.

Again, she never touched the remote or changed anything (it's a pretty new TV), and everything was just groovy until "Lost" came on, and it was in Spanish. I think this will end up being one of life's greatest mysteries!

If the TV is new then most likely there is something defective in the SAP where it is turning itself on.

It turned itself on for one TV show? When all else was OK prior? And all the other channels were coming in properly in English when she checked? I dunno. I wonder if somehow the neighbors had their TV programmed for Spanish and Mom's TV got the signal. Would that be possible? I told her to call RCA and ask them. I really want to know what happened, because it's actually pretty funny when she tells the story. She looked forward all week to watching the new season premiere of "Lost" and it comes in in Spanish. Poor Mom. :p
