Between songs Midler said Bush attended one of her concerts in the '70s with tickets supplied by his coke dealer. Saw the clip on FNC yesterday. 1,000 people called back to the show after Midler's put down to rescind their donations.

Way to round up the bucks Bette!!!

If people cancelled their donations that were going to help people just because of something a celebrity said, they are asshats. The end.

AMEN!

That's just plain stupid. They were probably all Bush supporters that got their panties in a wad after someone made a cut at "God" and they weren't pledging for the right reasons anyway...screw 'em.

Well, you assume that this information is correct and people actually withdrew their bids. I looked around on google and could find nothing to support that.

Maybe being under the influence of cocaine was the only way Bush could tolerate Midler's banal caterwauling.

Haha.

She also took a dig at Cheney by saying she accidentally received a letter from the RNC thanking her for her contribution, to which she replied "Go f*ck yourself!"

Gawd, I love Bette.

We all should get a couple of kilos of coke each to tolerate what Bush has done to the country the last 5 years.

What Bette said:

I could stand up here and talk for hours about ineptitude, stupidity, blame, in-e-qual-i-ty, global warming, the dangerous destruction of the wetlands. But if I did, what will all those other people have to talk about? I'm telling you these are -- these are not just dangerous times, these are -- these times are disastrous. We're surrounded by disasters! The war, the hurricane, the Fox News. It just goes on and on. I get so depressed!

A terrible thing happened to me. Today I got a letter from the Republican Party thanking me for supporting this administration's policies. I did what any self-respecting American of integrity and class would do, I wrote "Go f*ck yourself!" I sent it back! Postage due!

I would never actually pick on George Bush, because, you know, he's a big fan of mine. He came to see me in the seventies, came to a show of mine in the seventies. A coke dealer of his, uh, got him some tickets, and... Tonight we are here to be together, to help rebuild the Gulf coast, to help -- help rebuild the soul of America, the soul of America, New Orleans, New Orleans. We have to find a way to start listening to each other, to nature, and to the rest of the world, because who wants to live with so much danger.

I'd like to know where our dear friend found this information about rescinded donations, it's nowhere to be found online.

is that metal is going back to the political themed lyrics of the GREAT speed/thrash years of the mid-to-late 80's...Which is great because the lyrics SLAM!!!

As for Bette, She's alright...Not my type of music at all but she does have my respect.

Did you expect anything different from an artist who released a comedy album called "Mud Will Be Flung Tonight"?

If what she said can be considered mudslinging, comedians across the globe are mudslingers.

Like I said in an earlier post, I love Bette, I don't care what party she is affiliated with....that comment was crude (but, then, isn't she usually?), but funny. I HAD to giggle, which was following by 'oh, that was just wrong' and another giggle.  ;)

Oh, sure....I mean crude as being distasteful (I'm a girl raised in the South), I KNOW she couldn't really let loose...
