Pretty cool. I'm a Madonna fan - have been since Day 1. Had my moments of waning love - but always curious to hear what she's come up with. I maintain that Music is one of the most perfect and brilliant tracks ever produced.

What's this then? It's posted on her Myspace page. Single cover maybe?

I like the album cover OK. Not so hot about the title, especially when "Dance Floor Confessions" would be much less clunky.

And I don't like "Hung Up", but just because I'm sick of that techno flavor - from everyone, not just Madonna. And I'm going crazy trying to remember what song she sampled - anyone know?

Ooh, awesome! Thanks for posting that!
I had seen a couple small pics of potential album cover designs, and this was actually one of them. I'm glad she went with this one.

(And I agree, it's not the best album title she could have used.)

What's this then? Single cover maybe? That artwork is from Warner Bros. Japan's website. No one's sure yet if it's promo art, inner-sleeve art, or the cover from the single.

Not so hot about the title, especially when "Dance Floor Confessions" would be much less clunky.I agree totally. Your title would have been much better.

And I don't like "Hung Up", but just because I'm sick of that techno flavor - from everyone, not just Madonna.I'm actually crazy for "Hung Up." I'm over the techno stuff, too, and was worried that it would be too immersed in that style. But I think she pulled off a nice marriage of classic 70s/80s Dance-Club music and the better elements of techno and contemporary House music.

I hope that the rest of the album at least lives up to "Hung Up," and, hopefully, exceeds it.

And I'm going crazy trying to remember what song she sampled - anyone know? It's from ABBA's "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme (A Man After Midnight)" :D

I've only seen little clips from the reInvention Tour, and I've been dying for the DVD release that was supposed to come out... but it keeps getting delayed.
At this point, it'll probably never get released. :distress:

Has Hung Up been released yet? I haven't heard it yet. I've heard a little ten second clip though....The full-length version hasn't been released (or leaked) yet, just a few 10-second clips and the 30-second Motorola ringtone.

The single will be released on October 17th in the US.

Oh, and here's the just-announced official track-listing....

1. Hung Up
2. Get Together
3. Sorry
4. Future Lovers
5. I Love New York
6. Let It Will Be
7. Forbidden Love
8. Jump
9. How High
10. Isaac
11. Push
12. Like It Or Not

Odd that there's a song called "Forbidden Love," since Madonna already had a song on 'Bedtime Stories' with that title (it also appeared on 'Something To Remember'). I wonder if this is a dance remake of the track (like Cher did with "We All Sleep Alone"), or if this is an entirely new song that happens to have the same title as an older one.

"Isaac" is rumoured to be about the life of a young gay man.

I wouldn't be surprised if it self destructed if I tried to play it a 2nd time. :lol:I had a feeling that the promo disc would be copy-protected... they would have been extremely foolish not to. (Apparently there's a way to bipass the copy-protection on CDs, by holding down the shift key when you load the disc into your PC, but I don't think that trick works in all cases. And I know it definitely only works if you haven't already tried to load the disc previously.)

I'm a little bummed to learn that the tracks are mixed into each other, similar to 'You Can Dance,' but I'm sure I'll still enjoy the album.

Thanks for the info, Sparky!

I'm officially pissed that I missed the Reinvention tour after hearing about how great it was from all of you. Then I found out the setlist- Nothing Fails, Papa Don't Preach, Vogue, Deeper and Deeper!!!! These are some of my favorite songs. I was just so obsessed with seeing Fleetwood Mac that I missed this show which makes me a little mad because I should have been more balanced with my concert viewings.

I just hope she tours for this album. Has there been any word on if she will do a tour this time around?

No. "Isaac," "Sorry," "Let It Be," and "How High" are great tunes. Reminds me of vintage Giorgio Moroder stuff. Some of it is horrific crap ("I Love New York" is one of the worst songs I've ever heard in my life, as is "Push Me"), though.

I love Hung Up, and, so far, I liked Get Together, Sorry, Let It Will Be, and Forbidden Love. Future Lovers and I Love NY were okay. I'm listening to the rest now. I like that it's one continuous play - no pauses between the songs (I know, that's a minor thing, but it works).

I've been reading the reviews; very mixed. One thing seems to have escaped every reviewer I've read who's mentioned the Hung Up video: irony, kids. She's supposed to look dorky and goofy in the studio. The she goes out and gets all the krunkers to dance her goofy way at the end, too. I think it's hilarious.

I think this cd is excellent!!... I practically love every track!... and I don't think that's ever happened with a Madonna cd.. at least not for me. Usually there's a few strong tracks that make it as singles and I like them... and that's about it...

I was reading this analysis of each song (with grading) the other day and It described them better then I could.. and I didn't realize there were so many samples. The music is so layered and dense that I'm still listening for them...

Strong tracks for me aside from Hung Up are Sorry... Jump, Push, I Love New York and Get Together. Musically, I think it's far superior then her previous 3 cds in this sort of electronic category.

Here's the song analysis... (Couldn't get it in with my post for some reason)

HUNG UP: Featuring a sample from Abba’s Gimme Gimme Gimme this is a massive floor filler and a clear No1 single. While there’s no way on earth a straight bloke could be seen dead dancing to this camp tune it will go down a storm when she performs it at London’s G.A.Y. nightclub next month. 9

GET TOGETHER: Upbeat track which borrows the bass line from the Stardust dance classic Music Sounds Better With You. She sings, “Do you believe we can change the future?” 8

SORRY: One of the best tracks on the album and likely to be the second single. You’ll recognize the infectious bass line on the chorus as it’s a sample from The Jacksons’ 1981 hit Can You Feel It. The opening features Madonna saying “sorry” in lots of different languages. 10

FUTURE LOVERS: Madonna wrote this with Mirwais Ahmadzai, who produced her No1 album, Music. It’s heavy on synths and you can spot a sample from the Donna Summer/Moroder club anthem I Feel Love. 9

I LOVE NEW YORK: Banging dance tune with lyrics featuring a pop at George Bush and his home state. She sings: “If you don’t like my attitude then you can just f off. Just go to Texas, that’s where they play golf.” The chorus is: “Los Angeles is for those who sleep, Paris and London baby you can keep, No other city will make me dance like New York” 10

LET IT WILL BE: Oddly titled track uses the string opening from Papa Don’t Preach played on a synth. The track is reminiscent of Ray Of Light. An Eighties-sounding string of chords takes the track into the following number. 10

FORBIDDEN LOVE: This is Kraftwerk inspired and features computer generated, vocoder style vocals. It sounds very Eighties and is slightly slower than the rest of the album (there are no ballads at all on the CD). 8

JUMP: Features classic Madonna vocals and is reminiscent of Into The Groove. She sings: “The only thing you can depend on is your family.” 9

HOW HIGH: All about Madonna analyzing and evaluating her fame and success. She sings: “It’s funny I spent my whole life wanting to be talked about, Was it all worth it? I guess I deserve it, How high are the stakes?” 10

ISAAC: By far my favorite track — a stunning combination of wild rhythms, a hypnotic jewish chant and loads of strings and guitars. The ending is borrowed from Die Another Day. I defy anyone to not be blown away by this track. 11

PUSH: A love song for Madonna’s husband Guy. It’s got a funky La Isla Bonita vibe about it and is ear-marked as a possible single. She sings about Guy: “I owe it all to you, It’s because you push me, Keep on pushing like nobody.” 10

LIKE IT OR NOT: A bit like her hit Fever, this song is once again Madonna analyzing herself and saying, take me as I am. She sings: “You can call me a sinner or a saint, This is who I am, You can like it or not, You can love me or leave me, But I’m never going to stop.” This track completes the album beautifully with a classical guitar ending. Quite clever to put out a wholly electronic album – and close it with an acoustic guitar. 10

10 out of 10? I think it's a mistake....should be 0/10

PUSH: A love song for Madonna’s husband Guy. It’s got a funky La Isla Bonita vibe about it and is ear-marked as a possible single. She sings about Guy: “I owe it all to you, It’s because you push me, Keep on pushing like nobody.” 10

What's this chick smoking?

LIKE IT OR NOT: A bit like her hit Fever, this song is once again Madonna analyzing herself and saying, take me as I am. She sings: “You can call me a sinner or a saint, This is who I am, You can like it or not, You can love me or leave me, But I’m never going to stop.” This track completes the album beautifully with a classical guitar ending. Quite clever to put out a wholly electronic album – and close it with an acoustic guitar. 10

I listened to the whole thing on mtv.com last Friday. I will not be buying it...but if she really tours next summer, I am SO there....

There are a few good tracks - I like Hung Up, How High and a couple others. re: Isaac - Madonna, Sting called, he wants his Desert Rose back.

I saw that and wondered what the extra goodies were. Even though I'm a whore for Madge, I don't think I'll be buying.

If it came with that documentary that just aired on MTV, I'd get it. But it doesn't, so I wont.

I just got the CD......it's very spotty, and I'm not all the way through. "I Love New York" is horrid. "Sorry," however, is a great tune.

I love Sorry. My favorite line of the entire album is "Don't explain yourself cause talk is cheap. There's more important things than hearing you speak". I'd really like to say that to quite a few people, actually!

I love Get Together, the second track. It is my favorite Madonna song now. It is just so upbeat and catchy and fun. It makes me want to dance. I just love this song more then words can describe!

I really like the New York song. But the lyrics are bad. But oh well!

I don't like Let it will Be very much. Too repetative.

I love Hung Up of course, but I like the radio edit better. The album version just drags on and just when you think it is over it keeps going!

I officially love Future Lovers now. Just thought everyone should know.

The worst lyric in the whole CD has to be "If you don't like my attitude you can F off, go to Texas, isn't that where they golf". What the heck? It makes no sense.

Upon a few more listens, I give it a B-. The opening of Hung Up, Get Together, and Sorry is killer. Later, we get Jump, How High, and Isaac, and they're all good. The rest I could do without.

I <3 Sorry and Isaac. Sorry is rumored to be the next single. Here's hoping! She's been singing I Love New York at appearances, though. WHYYYYYYYYYYY?

Ugh. That "song" should never be performed anywhere. I would love "Sorry" to be the next single, however. :)

That line is apparently a shot at George W. She took a shot at him for something, probably awhile back about the war or how he governs himself... and they shot back I think with the attitude thing, I think. The golfing thing is about him golfing in texas and on vacation while he's sending people overseas to fight... That's my take on it.

Oh my God! I was listening to this on the way to work today - and had the SAME EXACT reaction! I was like, I'll have to remember that line for another time! The lyrics overall on this album aren't deep (but, hey, it's a dance album). But that line kills.

I'm loving this album more and more the more I listen. I love the first three tracks, and my new current favourite is How High?

There was also that scene in Michael Moore's movie, Farhenheit 9-11, where he was giving a clip to reporters about fighting terrorists and how he loves freedom, blah blah, and then he said, "now watch me make this shot." And he turned around and hit a golf ball. Might be from that.

I'm sure it is - Michael Moore was in her latest documentary - she made a big deal about him being in the audience and dedicated a song to him. Probably that one...

A friend at work bought it, I'm listening to it now, halfway through. It's OK. I Love New York is atrocious (sp) and I hope to never hear it again. Hung Up is the best tune so far.
