She's been asked about this in the past and said no way. But Bishop Tutu told her for the world to straighten out, women need to gain power. My vote's already been cast.

Oprah is already more than a celebrity I think.

Well, I'd certainly want to wait to hear the details of her foreign policy, how she'd deal with the situation in Iraq, her views on Iran, where she'd take the so-called "war on terror," her views on education and health care, and what she'd do about social security. That is, if I was American.

Right. Which she's not qualified to answer just yet. She may be at some point but not right now.

Hey, we had Ronald Reagan.

Actually, I always loved the quote from Back To The Future about RR being pres. in 1985- ] "No wonder your president has to be an actor, he's gotta look good on TV."

She'd be great as director of Health And Human Services or as an Ambassador right now, I think. I don't think she'd consider it though. She reaches many more people doing what she does now.

It doesn't seem likely, does it? But never say never... Anything is possible. Plus, its a woman's prerogative to change her mind. Some day maybe she'll be qualified.

Kathy Griffin: "I love Oprah. And I'm a big fan. But she thinks she's Jesus!"

And I can just hear her Convention speech:

(think booming Oprah voice)

"If I am elected as the first woman President, I will see to it that everyone in America gets ... A BRAND NEW CAR!!!!!!!! Massachusetts? You get a car! Mississippi? You get a car! Ohio, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota? You get a car, you get a car, you get a car, and YOU . GET . A . CAR!!!!! And Illinois, California, Washington, Texas! CAR, CAR, CAR, CAR!!!! YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

OK - so, maybe without the Howard Dean scream at the end. They just fit together so well.

Not to be dissentful, and I'm sure all his comments are spank on.
However, I don't love him, and I'm basing this partly from seeing him on the Daily Show (a long time ago) and also from "I love the...*insert 70's, 80's, etc.)
He's funnier on the "I love the", but his lisp really gets to me. :wavey:

I second. I don't object to black, or broccoli, or lesbian, but in the guise of Oprah, it's just too horrible to consider. Although not as horrible as our last 43 presidents....

and Japan will become my new & permanent home...Sorry USA, I will choose self-imposed exile before I would live in this country with another celebrity as President, Didnt Reagan teach folkz a thing in his 8 year TV/reality series known as his 2 term presidency???

I am all for a woman as President, Just not O-Prah or Hilly-Billy Clinton.

I would say a President with intelligence would happen before a woman or a black man would become the "commander in chief"...BUT, Looking at our present Presi-dunce I think Sponge Bob would have been a better choice.

You call f-ing up the economy of California, "experience"? Well, come to think of it, he did the same thing to the whole country, so yeah, I guess he did get "experience".

That's part of what I love about the TV show 24 - they created a black President

As much as I appreciate 24 and having Dennis Haysbert play the POTUS; it isn't all that groundbreaking. James Earl Jones played the POTUS in the 1972 movie The Man.
