Okay, with all these political threads, just where does everyone place themselves?

Moderate, with a slight lean to the right. Or, a conservative with an open mind!

I put that I lean moslty to the left.

I don't dislike Republicans and I actually respect many of their views - we're mostly talking old REpubs...I am NOT a fan of the neo-cons out there who are so crazy right it's scary.

I think a big problem in the world today is a lack of moderates...being radical on either side is just a bad thing IMO.

I picked the one above that, because I hate bugs (although i appreciate that we have bugs, and realize their importance in the scheme of things) but love trees and animals. :) My thing would say..."I would rather hug an animal than a republican - hell, I'd rather hug an animal than anyone! I chose "So left wing, I brake for ants on the freeway."
(I'm the guy who crawls around on his hands and knees in the middle of the night, to catch a cricket in a plastic cup and let it outside.
I also do the same with spiders and various other creepy-crawlers.
I even save wasps whenever possible.)

I'm just one big ol' peace-lovin,' living creature-savin' hippie.

Spiders kill other bugs, so I like them okay. They are actually probably my favorite bug.
Bugs I hate:
Wasps, Hornets, Yellow Jackets, Meat Bees, Pincher bugs (hate!), roaches (don't see too many), Moths, Flies, Ants (not too bad an ant problem, here), Crickets (a creepy problem in my hometown, but not so much here) ...
Weird green stick bugs, or praying mantises, freak me out.... they seems so... conscious...plus their legs and torsos cover too much area for me to be comfortable....
uh...any bug that jumps, or flies (which is why spiders are good in my book)...
Okay, I think my bugphobia is well documented now... :wavey:

You know I don't really know where I stand. I have some very strong opinions, but have never thought to join the game of wingnuts, pick a side and vote for a moron. I have no complaints cause I never have, nor will I probably ever vote. Anyone who dares tear me a new one for that, can KMA in advance. Again, you'll NEVER hear me whine and complain about the way things are, and when I start, then ya'll can say, "well maybe if you'd vote..... ;) ."
But if I charted all my opinions, I do wonder what side of the fence I'd be on.

hmmm. Okay, this is a hard one for me...
What about Environmentalism V. Immigration and population growth?
How do you stand on that? I am extremely liberal, but when it comes to population growth, I am...other. And in theory, I have no ideological problem with immigration. But in practice, it leads to expotential population growth.

I also feel I must clarify another point, which is that California has some of the most spectacular wildlife, especially with our massive coast, and massive old growth forests and redwoods (some of the last left in the world), and massive amounts of streams and rivers, (water allocation is very important. I'm always pissed that the powers that be decided to build massive cities in desert lands, and pump water from up here to sustain it unnaturally - with ill advised damning - decimating fish and other wildlife populations. *El Lay and Vegas* )

and massive amounts of foothills and mountains (which can, and do, host an astounding array of wildlife). Foothills especially host tons of wildlife in a short space. California is RIFE with foothills.
Also we have Wetlands, of course. We also have some of the richest farmland, from the bottom of the state to the top - in the central valley and on the coasts - it's no accident we are the fifth weathiest economic entity in the world.
I could go on and on. But of course, conversely, everyone wants to live in Ca, and we are host to...almost unprecedented immigration, from Mexico and the Asian countries...

It's very complex, and you know I love to be liberal, but in this case I have a harder time -

Assuming you know a lot about all the factors "We" face in CA, what are your thoughts about these things???
:wavey:

Honestly, i will submit that I am so liberal, that I take the wholistic (environmentally sustainable for all life forms) view over the people centered view. No bones, no apoligies, and with scientific evidence in my pocket. I'm sure I know more about the nitty gritty of these issues than most people, but still....

:) I read it, and I agree with ya about the problems of the population explosion here. In my own town, which was primarily a quiet, farmland encompassed place, they are building houses on every possible open field and space. There are SO MANY friggin people now, it gets on my last nerve.

I got in a big fight with my roommate over that, she was saying we needed a "foothold" in the middle east. Obviously she has no idea what she was talking about. I literally pushed her out of my face, just a sweep of my right arm, she's light. She shut up. I couldn't take it. We can't talk politics or else one of us is going to get hurt.
