This one was the icing on the cake...

) "What I'm hearing which is sort of scary is that they all want to stay in Texas. Everybody is so overwhelmed by the hospitality. And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway so this (chuckle) – this is working very well for them." –Former First Lady Barbara Bush, on the Hurricane flood evacuees in the Houston Astrodome, Sept. 5, 2005 (Source)

Yes, absolutely hilarious you bitch!

I can't believe she said that. I hope all this shows people what politicians really think about them. Although, in the scheme of all the stupidity, sadly that was a small gaffe.

Yeah, maybe it's cause I saw it first (well, second) that I found it so appalling. I couldn't get over it...

We need to act before disaster strikes, someone needs to sterilize Bush's daughters
I will assist you in this endeavor in any way that I can.

No, it's appalling, amongst so many other appalling quotes.

"Louisiana is a city that is largely under water." —Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, news conference, Sept. 3, 2005

 +20

Thanks for posting those, Danny. Boy, they made me mad.

Last night, Jon Stewart commented on this--"Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job." –President Bush, to FEMA director Michael Brown, while touring Hurricane-ravaged Mississippi, Sept. 2, 2005

He said, "But, Blackie, you're not doing so well."

This reminds me of how this hasn't sunken in for me yet. Despite how much it has affected my family and people I know (and certainly when I return to school later today I'm going to find out just how many of my friends/acquaintances don't have homes, or worse) but I really can't believe it. Nothing like this has ever been so close to home. First of all, "this" is pretty rare, and it just makes it more surreal that it's so close to home.

Oh goodness I can't believe she actually said that. All those quotes are absurdly stupid but I think Barbara's takes the cake.

Did anyone see Bill Clinton talking about how the country did fail the people over in New Orleans etc? I was actually crying listening to him, after hearing all the stupid stuff Bush has said. Clinton speaks intelligently and rationally. He composes complete sentences. His thoughts flow together into a coherent whole. You trust that he has a functioning brain in his head.

sigh. Sadly i can't say the same for Bush. It gives me heartburn every time he opens his mouth.

I argue with people all the time: the truly patriotic thing to do is not to vote. When you play a part, howsoever inconsequential, in putting a megalomaniac into a position of power & authority (high public office), you are chiseling away at the health of the Republic.

Now, I realize that's a function of birth & not really his fault, but if Mother Nature shortchanges you in the Brains Department, at least take it upon yourself to read some books (besides the Bible) & learn something -- especially if you become president!!

Like a pig in a sty, Shrub just wallows in his Dark Ages ignorance.

There was a new one today, I think it was from Pat Robertson, about how this disaster has been good for the supreme court nominee since congress won't feel right fighting it right now. It was something to that effect, I could not find the exact quote when I tried to search.

I think Gerald Ford was on par with Einstein & Hawking compared to Andrew Johnson.

I love Jon; loved him ever since his show on MTV. I'm grateful that we have people like him out there. The Daily Show and AC 360 are the best news shows out there.

He looks like he swallowed a fly in your avatar, though!

Hehe, I tried to take a screen capture but that is disabled somehow for the video so I just used the image on their site. I always like Jon too, I saw him right after he left MTV, he was doing stand up here. He was at the Commedy Connection chain smoking and dropping eff bombs, he was totally funny. He has come a long way.
