Is this song totally underappreciated or is it just me? It is absolutely in my top five Christine McVie songs, yet no one ever talks about it. It's like this song doesn't exist. I swear, I've been on the Ledge for three years and not one person has ever mentioned this song. So, I would just like to say that I think this song is amazing. And that's pretty much my point. :p

It's not one of my favorites. :sorry: It kind of drones on.

I'm with you shinnyreptiile...

I like this song too-
It's pretty and the melody is sweet and the lyrics are sad.....
Not the typical upbeat Chris song...
I never skip it when it comes on, although there are many other Chris songs I do skip.

Just my .2 cents

It's OK. I don't really dislike it, but it's one of my least favorite Christine songs. I believe it may be the only song she ever wrote in the 3rd person, which annoys me.

I kinda like it. It's not her best by any means. It clunks, though because of the placement on the album....after the power that is DLMDA, this song is buzzkill.

So Stevie must annoy the heck out of you?

"One More Night" is okay. I disliked it intensely at first, but I've warmed to it some.

I understand where you're coming from. I love Stevie, but the third person voice grates sometimes. I found she used the third person more effectively pre-RAL.

Back to Christine before I receive the wrath of Homie.

Anyway, "One More Night" isn't one of my favorites by any means but I don't dislike it, basically. So, nothing that hasn't already been said.

Upon first listen 25 years ago, I just thought of it as "Over & Over, Part II". Hasn't really grown past that in the 1/4 century hence.

I like it on certain songs ("The Highwayman," etc.) I think her most universal songs are the ones written in the first person, actually. "Storms," "Outside the Rain," "Landslide," etc.

I'm truly proud to be known as Christine's biggest defender. :xoxo:  :wavey:

I'm not so crazy about the song as I am the vocal and recording. Her voice is so smooth on this song.

Well, I'm not a huge fan of "One More Night," though I listen to it when it comes on. It's pleasant enough, but the two sections--verse and chorus--never pick up or innovate past the first minute. So, by the end, the song is repetitious. I sense this was a missed opportunity for a well-placed Lindsey solo or a much-needed bridge to change up the monotony.

With re: to the third person, these lyrics, unlike any of Stevie's, appear to have some relationship to a blues song--many of which feature the voice of a wiser, third person narrator commenting on someone's love-gone-wrong with a sort of seasoned knowledge.

Mind you, the song's music is anything but a blues. but the rhetorical set up is there. You see it, in another form, on "One in a Million," too.

this song is AMAZINGLY good. I love this song -- probably more than anything else on the LIVE album.

"One More Night" is probably one of my top songs of all FM time, & I love playing & singing it on my little organ. The Rhodes suitcase patch, throw on a little chorus & just a touch of overdrive, & it's just the tastiest, funnest thing to get into.

You guys are all stupid. "One More Night" is about as cool as it gets.

Don't rush it, dave -- it'll come! Let it happen naturally. That special something is waiting for your Christine appreciation & love to mature & ripen, like the rich, red, lustrous apple on the tree, or the golden summer squash on the vine!

Mmmmmmm, squash(drool).
It's soooo slow......Honestly, I've not heard it for years. I burned my own live disc recently, and it had to go, in order to fit it all on one disc.
I'll give it a listen now. Or not. :p ;)

It's OK. I don't really dislike it, but it's one of my least favorite Christine songs. My sentiments exactly.
Don't exactly hate it, but don't really like it either.

Basically, it commits the ultimate musical sin... it tends to bore me.

See, Landslide bores me. This song is anything but boring to me. But maybe that is because One More Night is not extremely overplayed. I really love the line "You'll come home one night to find she's not sleeping alone". Pretty interesting lyrics...

This song is anything but boring to me. But maybe that is because One More Night is not extremely overplayed. That's what makes Fleetwood Mac's music especially interesting to me... there's really something for just about everyone.
It's also why our favorite songs (and band members), and the reasons why they're our favorites, all vary so wildly.

I basically love and adore about 98% of Christine's songs... this one has just never knocked my socks off.
I'm really glad that it speaks to you though. I always say that no song is rubbish, as long as it has meaning to someone.
