So, it's 1 am here and I suddenly felt the need to teach myself a Mac song on the guitar, so for the last half hour or so, I've been trying to play Landslide. That is the easiest song to learn right? That's what I figured at least, but maybe someone else has a better suggestion?

I'm assuming you're talking about songs to learn by Fleetwood Mac...? Well, I guess it varies from person to person but I think the easiest song to play is Dreams. Go Your Own Way is super easy too. Rhiannon is easy. Silver Springs is easy.
I can play most of the Mac songs with general ease...but I would say the heavier of the "fingerpicking" tunes like The Chain, Landslide, Big Love, World Turning, and Bleed to Love Her are "tougher."

I can play Bleed to Love Her (that might've been the first real song I learned to play in its entirety) the Chain, and Big Love (my latest accomplishment) and would LOVE to get my hands on some more songs that contain fingerpicking, like Miranda, World Turning, Stephanie, Frozen Love, Django, Say Goodbye, etc. Anything like that. Can anyone help me out on where to find tabs?

Wanting to play Big Love is the only reason I ever started playing guitar. I'm still not quite there yet, but I am learning fast. I'll stick with the easier songs for now. :p

Well if you can play those songs, you should be able to learn by ear.

Big Love acoustic version.....I don't think my brain works that fast! ;)
I DO think landslide is probably the easiest fingerpicking song he does though.

That's one thing I'm NOT good at, unfortunetly. :( I wish I could improve my skills at learning or even figuring out tabbing by ear. I got my tabs at www.ultimate-guitar.com

That's an awesome site, thanks!! And yes, I made that my long term goal: learn how to play Big Love. I'm still working on some parts, and my hand gets tired around the middle of the song! I don't know if I'll ever play it full through!!

I actually have difficulty playing more of Lindsey's solo stuff...especially his "Out of the Cradle" stuff. The solo on "This is the Time"!?!?! Sheesh...forget it! =)
I have already picked up most of the "Live in Boston" stuff....hell, the solos on "Come" and "I'm So Afraid" are practically identical. I learned the "Come" solo in an afternoon.

In a few years, that'll be me on that picture :p No seriously, I'm wondering what my guitar teacher will think of Lindsey, 'cause I'm pretty sure he'll know the Mac, but his solo stuff ? mhm... Can't wait to start playing again

Most guitar aficionados appreciate Lindsey. If they don't, then the hell with em.

Most of the "older" guitarists that I know, know who Lindsey Buckingham is. They also appreciate his style. And whenever I show "younger" musicians Big Love or something of that nature, they can't believe how good he is.

Every gig, there's some guitarist (or wannabe guitarist) who asks me about my Turner M1. When I say it is like Lindsey Buckingham's, the whole "Deer in the headlight" thing appears on their face.

Somebody must step in and correct the problem before it escalates.
How about you stop worrying about it, Melvin.

Yep, I have a friend at school who thought that big love (acoustic version) was played by two guitarists and when he realised it was only LB, I said: "he's very good". He just looked at me with eyes wide open ;)

Wow - I bow down in your presence. I've only been able to teach myself rhythm guitar. Picking confounds me. If I could learn to play a song, I'd love to play Never Going Back Again. There is a Rumours songbook - guitar and piano. I bought mine eons ago, but I bet you can still get it at a good music store. I also have TITN and Tusk, and a few FM collections. They're out there... There may even be a SYW one out by now. Good luck!

Haha, thanks! It took me a little while to get the fingerpicking down. And I've been TRYING Never Going Back Again. Some of the fingerings (is that a word?) are quite a stretch. And I just can't play it fast enough to get a rhythm going.
I just found my mom's Tusk songbook last week, I was so happy! But I'd rather have an Out of the Cradle songbook. :D
Tabs for Django are online right here at the Penguin (http://www.fleetwoodmac.net/penguin/tabs/d.htm)
(transcribed by yours truly ;) )
There's more tabs on this site anyway, check it out. Never Going Back isn't too hard once you know 'the trick'. Good luck!

Trying playing along to Murrow Turning Over in His Grave with some reverb only. It's really fast. I can almost get it, but I think he's doubled the guitars..or it's just a helluva lot of delay.

Yikes that's a little (ok alot) above my level of playing. (which is very very low by the way  ) I had to try it though.
my boyfriend would kill me if he knew I was looking up tabs!

If you have a question about any of Lindsey's tunings, come to me. Although I can't play everything Lindsey can :cough: red rover :cough: big love :cough: I know almost all of the tunings.

Just been searching back over old threads for Lindsey tabs and came across this thread with some people trying to play Never going Back again.
Try it like this. It's much easier and you don't have to tune down your Guitar as well. Just Capo the 6th fret instead of the 4th.

He usually doesn't stray out of the standard tuning. He uses Drop D a lot...on a sidenote though, I've noticed ever since The Dance tour he's been changing the key of a lot of his songs.

Agh! I've only just got a guitar (for Christmas) and I so badly want to be able to play all this stuff! My ambition is to be able to play Fleetwood Mac songs on the guitar and sing along at the same time. Especially Landslide. I haven't a fridge-ing hope!!

I learned the "Come" solo in an afternoon.
 Wo-o--o--o-www.... YOU ARE MY NEW GOD!!!!!!!!
[After the man himself, of course ... ]
Seriously, that's brilliant .... but I don't think it's the same as I'm so Afraid. Come is a beast all of its own ...

Its different I know, but in terms of the way its played...the notes and such, it's similar to I'm So Afraid. When I play it, the notes and the feel is almost the same.

Point taken. I don't play guitar, so I'm clueless on these things. But when I think about it, I can see the similarities. Same with Murrow? Or am I totally off there? Especially the Murrow on Soundstage. It was mind-blowing.

Yeah Murrow from soundstage, ISA and Come are all similar in the riffs. I posted the Murrow solo that I played on here a few weeks back. I lost the MPEG and had to re-record it for a fellow Ledgie. I've got the file sitting on my work laptop and shall re-post it soon.

I'd love to hear it. All three are mind-blowers. It was the I'm So Afraid solo that made me fall in love with Lindsey. And the rest, as they say, is history.
