There are dead people lying inside the Superdome as well. Not to mention those floating in the water. It's horrifying.

it will get worse before it gets better...Saw an elderly woman dead in her wheelchair, At least someone cared enough to leave a message with her body stating who she is.
Bill O'Reilly is ripping folkz on the fact that officials took 4 days to try to restore order, When he spoke to a New Orleans resident who is still in the French Quarter district, the resident said that "Jesus would come before help does", And this person lives right next door to the police HQ.
This resident did say one thing, that if you think about it, that is true:
"23% of all energy for the U.S. comes from this area of Louisiana....If they do not send help soon, then this county is screwed!"

You know, that person that left the note on the Dead ladys wheelchair, sometimes little things like that go unnoticed. But If that helpe her family to find her sooner, as far as I'm concerned, whoever that person is is a saint.

Yeah - I feel silly complaining about little things now - there is so much that we take for granted.
I thankfully, have not seen any images of the dead - what's really getting me is the rapes that are taking place at the convention center :distress: Seems like anarchy really is taking over there...
This whole thing is just awful.

I am sure looters will start to kill one another (I have no problem with looting items such as food/water to survive...But brand new 2005 Cadillacs and DVD/stereo systems???), This is slowly turning into a "Bloodbath in Paradise".

according to a reporter for CNN (Thank God for digital satellite) they are looting stuff not for survival purposes. A person interviewed said he watched people just stealing Cadillacs left-and-right at a new car dealership in downtown N'Orleans.
About the dead woman in the wheelchair, Here is a piece I CC&P that is brutally truthful:
"I don't treat my dog like that," 47-year-old Daniel Edwards said as he pointed at the woman in the wheelchair. "I buried my dog." He added: "You can do everything for other countries, but you can't do nothing for your own people. You can go overseas with the military, but you can't get them down here."

To add to the horror alot of the bodies seen floating down the streets are reported to have bullet holes in them ,so they were murdered .A couple were reported to be girls aged 12 to 15.Really I think some of the sharks and alligators said to be swimming around down there have more humanity than some of these 'humans' that are taking advantage of this horrific disaster.

I couldn't agree with those last two sentences anymore! We have Tsunami Relief Concerts, and we give millions and millions of dollars to their relief efforts. Granted, it was the right thing to do and for a good cause. Yet, we won't hardly be seeing any of that for our own "tsumami." It is ridiculous! We should help each other in times of need. Where is the outcry? Where are the celebrities?
Finally, the fact that people would steal from people who have nothing, but the clothes on their backs, makes me sickier than seeing the dead bodies on TV. If hell exists, these people who are looting for capital gain, not survival, are so going!!!!!!

NBC to hold concert for Katrina victims
Tim McGraw, Wynton Marsalis among artists to perform Friday night
Reuters
Updated: 5:47 p.m. ET Sept. 1, 2005
LOS ANGELES - Four Louisiana-born stars — Harry Connick Jr., Wynton Marsalis, Aaron Neville and Tim McGraw — will headline a televised charity concert to air live on Friday for victims of Hurricane Katrina, NBC said Wednesday. McGraw's wife, country star and Mississippi native Faith Hill, will also perform.
Plans for the one-hour, commercial-free show, called “A Concert for Hurricane Relief,” were announced as the Bush administration and Congress began working on legislation to assist in hurricane recovery efforts.
“I am heartbroken by the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina in my home state,” said country star McGraw, born in Delhi, Louisiana, in a statement. “It’s at times like these that each of us must work together to provide life-saving aid to those in terrible need.”
Joining McGraw are two New Orleans natives, trumpet player Marsalis and jazz singer Connick, whose hometown was left largely submerged in floodwaters.
In addition to music, the special will feature appearances by actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Mike Myers, John Goodman, Lindsay Lohan and Eriq La Salle, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, who is a Louisiana native, along other celebrities.
Katrina has claimed more than 200 lives, left tens of thousands of people homeless and caused billions of dollars in damage since slamming into the U.S. Gulf Coast Monday.
NBC aired a similar star-studded charity concert in January that raised more than $18 million for survivors of the tsunami that killed hundreds of thousands of people and left millions more homeless in South Asia and East Africa. An estimated 19.5 million viewers tuned in to some part of that broadcast on NBC and its sibling cable TV outlets.
(MSNBC is a joint venture between NBC and Microsoft.)
Both efforts were reminiscent of a two-hour telethon carried by all four major U.S. TV networks 10 days after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on America. That special raised more than $150 million in pledges.

Here's the VH1 concert - Sept. 10th
http://www.vh1.com/news/articles/1508739/20050831/usher.jhtml?headlines=true
Usher, Green Day, Ludacris and Alicia Keys are among the artists who have signed on for a Hurricane Katrina relief concert that will span four cities, three television networks and several musical genres.
Dave Matthews Band, Rob Thomas, Linkin Park's Chester Bennington, David Banner, Gretchen Wilson and John Mellencamp will also take part in the shows, which will be staged in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Nashville on September 10 and will air live on MTV, VH1 and CMT. Additional artists will be added to the lineup soon, and proceeds from the show will go to the American Red Cross.
"In the face of a tragedy of this scope, we simply have to do everything in our power to offer support, comfort and hope to all the people directly impacted by the hurricane," Judy McGrath, chair and CEO of MTV Networks, said Wednesday (August 31) of the concerts. "Our goal is to join forces on every medium to get involved, to volunteer, to contribute in any way we can."
The concerts are part of a larger awareness campaign that will also include an MTV News special on Katrina relief efforts, on-campus resources, and information across all the network's channels regarding aid and activism.
MTV's parent company, Viacom, also announced that it has contributed $1 million to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Effort.
Hundreds are feared dead and tens of thousands are without shelter in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama in the hurricane's wake (see "Katrina Devastates New Orleans; Mississippi Death Toll Rises To Over 110"). Flood waters continued to rise in New Orleans on Wednesday, further plunging the city into chaos. President George W. Bush has called the hurricane "one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." He devoted federal resources to the aid effort, but called on private citizens to do their part as well.

I disagree. It's reality. It is what happened. Should the government hide it, the way they do the US soldiers' bodies coming home from Iraq?
And funnily enough, no one seems to freak out when we see the bodies of the innocent blown to bits in Iraq. Or Israel. Or anywhere else far, far away.

Would you like the news organizations to show images and video footage of YOUR decaying dead body floating aorund in sewage for the world to see? Should they have shown the bodies of those who perished on 9/11 for everyone to see?

Sadly, there were no bodies to show of the first victims of Sept. 11th. The news media then made a collective decision, one I agree with, not to show the people who were jumping to their deaths.
But I continue to disagree that the news media should whitewash what happens by pretending the death and destruction isn't there. Be it in New Orleans or Iraq. This is the world we live in. It has nothing to do with respect or disrespect. There is a lot of talk out there that there could have been better preparation before Katrina. If the reality on the ground is whitewashed, what will be learned? What will change?
Similarly, I ask again, should the US government continue to hide the bodies of US soldiers being brought back from Iraq? By doing so, they are whitewashing the reality of war - and the fact that 1000+ Americans have died there. Nevermind the thousands of innocent Iraqis.
The role of the news media is to reflect reality. Lord knows, we have enough sensationalism on the "news" around the world. What is wrong with turning on a camera and saying "this is what happened. This is the scene. This is the awful truth."

Again, would like your rotting dead body that's floating in sewage to be shown for everyone to see all across the world? Or, like Danielle said, would you like the body of your grandma or relatives to be shown like that? Making a conscious decision not to show the bodies of the dead does not whitewash this tragedy, it allows the innocent people who died to have dignity after death. The news media did not show the bodies of the victims of 9/11 and everyone understood perfectly what a tragedy it was. I, personally, find it offensive and incomprehensible for someone to argue that these people should be disrespected after death simply because people have a right to see "reality." There is nothing to be learned from seeing their dead bodies and to essentially rape them of any dignity is wrong.

I've been watching CNN most of the day and there was a story on about the airport of NO. It's been converted to a field hospital. Whenever there are people coming in they get the once over to see how bad they are hurt ot how sick they are. People that are too sick are left to die because there is just not enough medication to treat everybody.
I don't mind them showing dead bodies, let the outside know what it's like.
