I think apart from World Turning and Don't Stop, Christine's parts should be left alone, because Chris and Stevie have totally opposite voices.

Isn't that the same set list they've already been PLAYING for the last 30 years?!?
I'd rather see them promote the 40th anniversary of the band in its entirety (with as many ex-members that'll agree to play) than see them play that old, tired set again. I'm sick to DEATH of that set list (or anything close to it).
God, I hate Rumours...hate it, hate it, hate it!

I'm pretty sure I already saw that concert two years ago.
(P.S. Do you mean "unwound"?)

It does sort of feel that they've been playing the Rumours tour for the past 30 years...
Okay, not quite, but a quick look at that setlist left me with a very familiar feeling. Of course, if they do this 30th anno thing, they should play ALL of Rumours (and I think they should only do it if Chris takes part), but I'd love to see some more obscure album tracks from Tusk, Mirage, TITN and SYW to round it out.
Just my 2 cents...

While I'd MUCH rather have a 40th FLEETWOOD MAC anniversary, I know this band all too well, and that may be a long shot. IF they only do a 30th RUMOURS anniversary tour, I'd like to see them mix things up a bit. Sure, there are songs that they'll always play, but here's what I'd like to see:
Smile At You
The Chain
Dreams
Oh Well
Crying In The Night
I Know I’m Not Wrong
Seven Wonders
Miranda
Rhiannon
Book Of Love
I’m So Afraid
Gypsy
Big Love
Landslide
Steal Your Heart Away
That’s Alright
Tango In The Night
Sara
Tusk
Stop Dragging My Heart Around
Go Your Own Way
Holiday Road
Don’t Stop
Four Strong Winds

(P.S. Do you mean "unwound"?) No, my favorite line from Rhiannon is Dreams Unwind but there is a user that has dreams unwind. so I changed it to unwindeddreams. I know the correct pronnunciation is unwound but c'mon unwound!

I don't like that set list. It's the same old songs that we've already heard a 100 times (except for IDWTK). I prefer Steve's set list. At least that's a little bit different.

Now Chili, dont make any of us beat you to death with your own dislike of one of the greatest pop albums of history. You know when you say stuff like that, it makes me wonder if you're really a fan or not. The construction of the songs is genius. But you know, I didn't grow up in the 70s...and those who had to listen to that album every day for the last 30 yrs are justifiably tired of it.

it's more an issue of saturation, rather than quality
even LB SN and CM were sick of it

Since everybody is so bitchy around here
What do you expect? Against our better judgment, we continue to follow a band that all but insults their core fanbase in the construction of their setlists.
Perhaps that's a bit harsh, as the Say You Will tour did include some very nice surprises. Still, for a band with a fiarly large catalogue, for them to go out on the road and play the same twenty songs in the same order every night for a year is just uninspired, and every fan has a right to be sick and tired of hearing some of the same hits over and over and over again.

LOL! :]
I'm with you there. I will never hate Rumours...but those songs have been played to death (with the weird exception of "I Don't Want To Know." Yes, it was the pinnacle of their career....which means they had no where to go but down -- not artistically, but inspirationally. They became a juke box stuck on the same album for decades. Rumours is their Albatross!!
Regarding their live shows, I know of no other long-living bands that are so stuck in the past. I know of no other bands with such rich histories, who continually revert the majority of their shows to recordings from nearly 30 years ago, and continually give all the music they've done since then just a brief, passing nod....if that.
Maybe I'm a bit old school, but if I like a band, I couldn't care less if I don't hear their hits. (Radio is so corporately constricted, the reality of Fleetwood Mac ever having another chart hit is nearly non-existent.) If I like their music---I like their music. Their set could consist of all b-sides, unknown songs, cover songs, whatever....I'd be happy for what it was. And I would expect that ---in a span of 20-something years--- that I could attend several dozen shows and see a distinguished and different set list. It's not a comfort to know that I can expect The Chain followed by Dreams. It's stagnent, redundant (and more redundant)!!
This band is not getting any younger...we can reasonably expect only a few more years of live performances. You think that they would take more stock in their backlog, and maybe delve into songs that have gotten little or no attention. Beautiful Child and I Know I'm Not Wrong (as well as the Say You Will material) was a start. But not enough. Too little too late.

get real. In a 28 song-setlist I suggested two rumours-songs in the encores and one in the regular set. And that one is I don't want to know for g*ds sake.
YOUR MUSICAL-SETLIST COUNTED 8 FRIGGIN' RUMOURSSONGS!!!!!!! (incl. SS)That's practically the whole album!

....but it's the kind of music that the vast majority wants to hear. If people wanted to hear more bluesy type stuff, this conversation wouldn't be happening. Post '75 incarnation had the type of songs people wanted to buy and listen to....right place and right time. In some aspects, they are still listening to those songs that spanned from '75-'80. It's music that has lasted, and I dunno why you are so bitter towards that.
And someone's creativity shouldn't be compared to another's creativity. It's apples and oranges. If everyone had the same idea for a song, it would be one boring music industry.

I'm not entirely sure hwat the purpose of this setlist-revising exercise is, but if you're trying to come up with something creative and exciting, you're still going in the absolute wrong direction. I count only three songs on that list that weren't played on one or both of the last two tours. This incarnation of Fleetwood Mac has plenty of back catalogue that is completely ignored because of the way they do things on tour. How about Crystal as a duet, or The Ledge, or Book Of Love, or That's Alright, or Tango In The Night, or Everybody Finds Out, or a solo song OTHER than Go Insane or Stand Back? There are so many possibilities for an awesome and creative Mac setlist, even without "covering" pre-75 stuff (which I don't really think they ought ot be doing at this point).

Amen Curtis my friend. I've never understood all the rancor between fans of pre 75 and post 75. I love it All!!! But everyone's entitled to their opinion I guess. :D
Seriously. The post 75 incarnation of the band is what got me interested in them in the first place, back in 1978...(oh god 1978). I remember really listening to the Rumours album for the first time at a friends house and thinking this **** is good. So I went to the record store and bought both Rumours and Fleetwood Mac, thanks ma and dad :) . But while there I also noticed their other albums plus Buckingham Nicks. So I was back the next week buying BN and Bare Trees (I liked the cover) and the rest is history. I like all Fleetwood Mac albums with the exception of Time :distress:

What do you expect? Against our better judgment, we continue to follow a band that all but insults their core fanbase in the construction of their setlists.
Perhaps that's a bit harsh, as the Say You Will tour did include some very nice surprises. Still, for a band with a fiarly large catalogue, for them to go out on the road and play the same twenty songs in the same order every night for a year is just uninspired, and every fan has a right to be sick and tired of hearing some of the same hits over and over and over again.
Then don't go to the shows You know full well what your gonna get at a Fleetwood Mac show in 2005. I personally don't wanna hear Lindsey Buckingham sing Hypnotized, Oh Well etc. However I would not mind hearing Green do Oh Well. So Im gonna call up Mick Fleetwood and Im going to tell him the next Fleetwood Mac tour should be done in 2 legs. The first leg is anyone he can round up from the pre 75 days. Then the second leg would be the "classic" lineup of Mick, John (how f*****g great is this mans playing), Christine, Stevie and Lindsey. Also that the shows are to be requests only.

Amen Curtis my friend. I've never understood all the rancor between fans of pre 75 and post 75.It's that ol' devil called "commercialism" (in this case, it's the turning away from grittier urban realism toward pop & the nagging overplay of multiplatinum songs).
It's also proof that "Fleetwood Mac" is dozens of different bands. It's time to start treating them -- not it -- as such.
Then don't go to the shows
I don't want to take out all of my pent-up rage on you speicifically, but well, I'm really sick of this kind of idiocy. It seems to be the stock response of people all over the Internet (and elsewhere in life) who just can't stand to see their favorite whatever spoken negatively in any way. In politics, you hear the same thing from Bush supporters directed against those who dare to speak ill of his policies: "Well, if you don't like America, go live someplace else." Which is an incredibly moronic and un-American thing to say, and it's just as illegitimate a comment in this context.

I sure do. And I don't like it, which is why I'm complaining about it.

Nor do I, which I think I also mentioned in my previous post.

But Fleetwood Mac is a rock band. What they do is for public enjoyment. They are not trying to save the world or music industry for that matter

Well then, they're certainly doing a good job. :p

That's not the point. The point is that I have every right to complain without being told to basically f*** off if I don't like the way the band does things. I wasn't just bitching and moaning, I was offering constructive criticism, and a criticism with which I think a large number of Mac fans agree. I realize that it's highly unlikely that Fleetwood Mac will ever change their approach to concerts, but there's certainly no harm that can be done by encouraging them to do so.

Who told you to F*** off? I told you not to attend a rock concert for christ's sake. I see Petty every time he comes around. And each time you get maybe 6 or 7 songs that are new/obscure, but the rest are the same songs he has been doing for years. If I got bored or tired of the sets I wouldn't go.

How is that a response to my complaint about the band's setlists, though? Whether or not I attend a Fleetwood Mac concert has absolutely no bearing on whether or not I wish to complain that the band's setlists are too static and boring. I'm not complaining that I feel I'm not getting my money's worth, I'm complaining that I think the band is woefully boring in its setlist choices.

That's my point why go if you feel the band is boring. Save yourself the agony of it all. I mean do you go because despite the boring song choices the band is still a great live act? Do you go out of curiosity?

the setlists are boring
Rush's setlists are boring too
2 of my favorite bands and they refuse to play to cut repetition

I don't think I mentioned attending a Fleetwood Mac concert at all in my previous posts in this thread. Am I explaining this poorly? Again, whether or not I go to a Fleetwood Mac concert is irrelevant; my complaint that the setlists are boring still stands. They're boring whether I go or not.

I think the recording of crickets just prior to their playing "The Chain" is really appropos. :) And, they pretty much could play them throughout their entire set.
Thunder only happens...{sound of crickets}

Their set lists bore the crap out of me. However, I'm a total whore for John McVie's bass playing.

Because I haven't missed a Fleetwood Mac tour since 1974 (which is something I can't say about Eric Clapton...and considering how I feel about Clapton's guitar playing, that is saying A LOT!!!)...I'll still go once every tour (instead of going 3 to 8 times per tour as I did in the 70's & 80's)...and because of the way they've decided to build their concert sets, I'll bitch about it til I die. Simple as that. I just keep hanging on to the hope that each time I see them, they'll do something to make me STOP bitching...but they don't.
