I don't know - looks good, but I can't stop thinking of The Exorcist. Not sure if I'll be able to see it without constantly comparing the two.

Yeah - it looked interesting - I'll probably end up renting it one day though - I never go to the movies.

Oooh... It looks creepy enough. I hope it's good when you see the whole thing. Often it looks great in the trailer and then is really disappointing.

I know exactly what youre talking about. you see the trailer, then go to see the actual move, and its a total stinkbomb.

I know what you mean...but this actually seems really good. And It doesn't seem to be a copy of the movie the exorcist...the story and background are different.
I can't wait. It's really scary if you are religious and believe in possession, which I do...but if you don't then it still would be a great movie I think. The website even has a section called Faith/Science...they try and remain objective to let the viewer choose what they want to believe.

I dont want to see it. Saw the preview when I saw the Skeleton Key and those black eyes scared the piss out of me. And the people with the melting faces in the cars...ew....creepy.

i actually enjoyed it. It was slow paced at first, and one of the "villains" is pretty easy to spot. But the ending made up for the rest of the movie.

This movie is based on a true story as Im sure most of you know. here is an teaser I found about the movie:
A true story, the case of Michel is well known among those who study exorcisms. In 1976, the Catholic Church officially recognized the demonic possession of an 18-year-old German college freshman. During her exorcism, the young woman died, and a priest stood trial for causing her death.
kind of a weird twist eh?
As for comparisons to The Exorcist, I thot the Exorcist was campy and it didnt scare me at all. I think Emily Rose will be far superior from what I've seen...
I hope someone will fill us all in because I for one cant afford to go to the movies :distress:

I am really excited about the Emily Rose flick. I probably won't see it in the theatre...I don't like going to the theatre...but I'll rent it for sure when it's available.
Horror movies with religious themes are my favorites! I am not religious, per se, but I do certainly believe in devils, demons and other entities, and the idea of posession just horrifies me!

Great movie. Best one I've seen at the movies in quite a while. Kate Hudson, John Hurt, and Gena Rowlands are fantastic.

Good to know. I'll go see it then. I was a little sceptical about The Skeleton Key. You never know. Sometimes these movies sniff!

Whoever did Laura Linney's make-up in this flick needs to be shot. It was so awful that it literally distracted me from the movie. I think she's such a beautiful woman and they made her look like **** for this flick by spraying the entire contents of a Max Factor plant on the poor thing.
As for the movie itself, ugh. I expected much better. The script was unbearable. I was rolling in the aisles by the time Wilkinson was raving about the "dark forces" for the 17th time. The ending with the verdict had me rolling my eyes in absolute disdain for the sheer idiocy it took to put the whole thing together. Thank the stars for Laura Linney and Tom Wilkinson because it would have been torturous without them. And those subtitles. Oy vey.
I'm also nominating Campbell Scott's mustache for a Razzie in the Worst Supporting Actor category. Who's with me?

I can go one better .When I was a kid in the 1970s my Dad moved us into a weird religious commune out here ,kind of a Jim Jones type thing, and the pastor/head of the commune actually thought I was possesed by demons. I guess he couldn't distinguish between demonic possesion and the symptoms of ADHD.Now I wish I'd milked it for all it was worth and spit some green pea soup on him.

It's nothing like it looks in the trailer. It's not a horror movie in the slightest, it's a courtroom drama.

i love scary movies- but only if i see them WITH someone... preferably a guy who i can cuddle with and hide my eyes in his shirt if it gets too scary. i sleep alone and it gets really dark at night and if i see things that are too startling or too grotesque it will burn into my mind and my imagination will run away with me in the dark (hearing noises, seeing shadows move etc)
sooo, i would love to see this movie but some of the images spooked me really badly in the previews. i'm actually on the verge of complaining about the previews because it totally sucks to be watching something fun late at night like pimp my ride or some other light tv show and the commercial comes on and there are these crazy faces and screaming and stuff. it jolts me and suddenly i can't sleep without having crazy nightmares with those images. and during the daytime the previews aren't any less scary... what about kids watching tv after school in the afternoon? they shouldn't see those images. they can really be scared. just my two cents.

It also got panned.
I saw "An Unfinished Life" today. It was utterly predictable and the storyline tired. But, J-Lo was the best she has been in it and considering the story was so trite and weak.

With good reason. The make-up on the beautiful Laura Linney already knocked it down a star or two, but the script and pedestrian atmosphere really killed it.

Fech. I could tune in to Lifetime and find any random variation of that movie on at several points throughout the day.

I was far from impressed with this movie! I was expecting to be scared ****less like I was when I saw the Original Exorcist. This movie have maybe 1 scene that even remotly scared me. If you see you probably know which 1 I am talking about, and no its none of the scenes in the preview. Let me say though, that what you see in the preview is pretty much all the "scary" parts in that moive. I would give this move a 2 star out of 5. This movie had potential to be much better. More horror and less court room drama.

I just got back from seeing it and I agree. There was also a lot of legal aspects that were not accurate.

The trailer presents it in a totally different light than apparently it is. I think I will wait for the DVD or some night on pay per view in a hotel room.

The real question is what did you think of Linney's make-up? Her eyeliner, in particular, drove me nucking futs.

The bronzer was so splotchy! Yech! She looks f*cking radiant when she doesn't have three tons of make-up spray-painted on her:

I agree. She is a gorgeous woman and a great actress. I think they tried to make her into a powersuit, hoity toity attorney, but that part of the storyline fell through - and her constant drinking (why was that important? it didn't really fit in anywhere - and the "dark forces" - damn, get a thesaurus

another thing I hated about the movie was that it came across as comical in some scenes...you know it's bad when you're in a theater watching a "thriller" and the audience laughs...WTF? I also wasn't fond of the girl in the title role.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose (http://www.theexorcismofemilyrose.com/movies/theexorcismofemilyrose/)
I have a friend who, a couple of months ago, started having recurring dreams about the ghost of a girl named emily. Apparently, she started out friendly, then as the dreams progressed, got nasty. In one of her last dreams, my friend was driving her car home from work, emily was next to her. They were at a light, next to a blue mustang, with a liscense plate that I dont recal, but my friend saw and remembered in her dream. Apparently, emily was telling her she had to race this car-and in the dreams, whatever Emily said, my friend had to do. So, they raced, and just as they were coming up on rt 70 in the dream, my driend said "if i keep going, we'll get into an accident" and she woke up.
Well, the next day she was really freaked out. Apparently, she was driving home from work, and had to take a detour around an accident. so, she found herself almost near rt 70, when she heard a crash. When she got to the overpass, there was a car, no one else around, that was in the middle of the road, smashed up. No badly, but enough. The scary part was, it was a blue mustang - with th extact same liscense plate as the one in her dream!! Furthermore, it was in the same place that she had been in her dream when eshe said there was going to be an accident there.
So, b/c of this, my friend is especially intrigued by this movie.
I myself am a little freaked out. I think these kinds of movies look interesting, and I always want to see them, but when I do, I end up freaked out for days. I saw the Ring, and that still bothers me.
