I'm really interested in getting a show from The Other Side tour....I don't know why I picked that particular tour, but I'd like to try a few out. I don't collect live boots routinely, though I do have a few that I got in trades for one reason or another. I've perused a few trade sites and noticed that most boots from this tour are of lower sound quality than the normal, and already bad sound quality of most live Stevie boots. However, all sound quality aside, I was hoping to get some suggestions for a couple of shows.... I noticed that Juliet was performed early in the tour, but later dropped...I'd like to hear a show that includes Juliet.
Also, I'm intrigued by 'Two Kinds Of Love' being performed...was it good live? Really? Any comments on Stevie's Other Side performances of How Still My Love? No Spoken Word? Beauty & The Beast?

Ask Jimmy.
I'd go with the San Jose show. I only have 2, but SJ is far better quality.
'Two Kinds Of Love' is, unfortunately, as much of a drag live as it is on the album... :sorry:
The highlights (IMHO) are:
'Outside The Rain'
'No Spoken Word' (Better than the RAL tour)
'Gold Dust Woman' (looove the synths!)

Don't be sorry 'bout Two Kinds of Love. It is far from a favorite of mine. I was just curious when I saw it in the setlist. You know....kind of like I would be if Welcome To The Room Sara were in a setlist. Eew.. and Ooh! at the same time.

Here I am! :wavey:
If you want a show with Juliet that is fairly good in quality i suggest:
Stevie Nicks – August 20th, 1989 – Mansfield, Massachusetts (2 CD’s) (Quality B) (Aud.)
This doesnt have Juliet but it si fantastic Quality and lossless by the way:
9/9/89 Jones Beach Amphitheater, Wantagh, NY (A-) (2 CDs)
These 3 are the shows that most fans have and are high in quality:
Stevie Nicks – November 24th, 1989 – Rotterdam, Holland (2 CD’s) (Quality A-) (Aud.)
Stevie Nicks - November 19th, 1989 - Paris, France (1 CD) (Quality A) (Aud.)
Stevie Nicks – October 8th, 1989 – Houston, Texas (1 CD) (Quality A) (Soundboard)
I just got The AUDIENCE RECORDING OF THE HOUSTON TX 89 show and you can hear her doing the WLT Trouble video, singing Talk to Me accapella, and Two Kinds of Love accapella. It was so cool. Quality on it is about a B and lossless. Just got a bunch of lossless OSOTM shows in today thanks to Lisa :xoxo:

The worst part is the guy who sings Bruce Hornsby's part (Robert Martin?)!!! He is quite possibly one of the worst male vocalists on Earth! I'm exaggerating of course, but once you hear it you'll know exactly what I mean.
The other thing that makes me roll my eyes is Stevie's cheesy introduction; "Just how many kinds or love are there? Two kinds!"

One More thing... I just got this in today, lossless format, and Stevie really sounds great on it:
11/16/89 NEC Arena, Birmingham, Holland (B+/B) (2 CDs) -
Outside The Rain/Dreams/Rooms On Fire/
Gold Dust Woman/Alice (cut)/Stand Back/WLT/
TKOL/Edge Of Seventeen/HAEWAFY
Filler: 'Leno' '94 (Blue Denim & interview)/
Secret (w/Robin Zander)
Its a really good show. I have yet to add all these to my trade list but they will be soon.

The best show by far from the ones I've heard from TOSOTM is Houston. It's a great recording, none of the others compare. Alice is the best from thats show.
And that Robert Martin is brilliant! I was blown away by his voice the first time I heard it. He has the voice of an angel. As soon as I heard TKOL I had to run out and find out exactly who he was. I don't know what you've heard but the man can sing, oh yes he can.

I've got a boot around here somewhere (either Dallas or Austin) that has a killer version of No Spoken Word, but the sound is so low. It barely sounds like the Klonopin-ravaged Stevie.

waddy shouldn't be allowed to sing either and she must never touch his hair again like she did at the in concert hbo show. however he must always be part of her solo shows IMO.

The other thing that makes me roll my eyes is Stevie's cheesy introduction; "Just how many kinds or love are there? Two kinds!" :rolleyes:The single most unintentionally funny thing Stevie has ever uttered, in my opinion, is her introduction to "Two Kinds Of Love" at the Mountain View show:
"Just how many kinds of love are there? In San Francisco they might say, 'there are two kinds!'"
Robert Martin wasn't bad at all. He has a good, clear voice... though somewhat non-descript.
My only qualm with him, and I'm not sure if he did it at all the shows are not, was his ultra cheesy ad-lib of "girl-friiieend" during the "TKOL" coda.

OMG I was just listening to a random live version of TKOL this morning and she mumbles something at the beginning and I was having the hardest time figuring out what she said but that's it! That's the version I have. Now I HAVE to go back and listen. How cute is that! But it doesn't sound like it was unintentional if she said "In San Francisco they might say.."
I still love TKOL. It's a beautiful love song. I'm really disappointed that fans don't like it more. I'll admit the lyrics are a bit trite at times but the music in the verses is really beautiful and there are some great lines in there. I love the line "great temptations never really die".

I'm crazier. I actually still drove there after the quake! They didn't make the decision to cancel until like 7PM. Whoa what a night that was.

After digging through piles of boots, I dicovered that I have the Summit show in Houston, Texas.
I gave it a really good listen, and thought it was a pretty good show. Stevie sure did get emotional at the end, what with her prattle about Woodstock and such. No SPoken Word was great, it seemed like Stevie was really careful to get the words right....though Whole Lotta Trouble cracked me up. Has she ever performed this song and got the lyrics in the right order?
That guy singing on Two Kinds of love? Horrid. Totally, utterly horrid. His vocals are way too effected - I'm sure he's great with his own material, but I hope to never hear him singing with Stevie again. Just my opinion...

Robert Martin...keyboards, sax & vocals. He was in her band for the Rock A Little tour, as well. An ex-Frank Zappa band member. I attended her Mansfield show (no tour books yet!!! egh!). Got to see/hear Stevie perform Talk To Me and Juliet.
Even though it was early in the tour, she was already a zombie. Her band appeared to be overly splashy, perhaps to compensate for their lifeless leader. That concert left me empty.
I guess that was a step up from her Rock A Little concert I attended. That one left me frustrated and confused.
