I agree with what you have written about how you think we should be respecting Stevie, but I highly doubt that you have any insiders info, as I have asked twice where you are getting direct info that shes hurt by what has been said because she definitely knows about it and you have yet to respond. BTW, I am a newbie too.

Tried that - won't work. Anyway I started this thread to see if Ghostracker will finally post a response, otherwise Ghostracker should not incinuate that they know for certain that Stevie is upset by things on this board, without the proof to back it up. It seemed to cause alot of useless controversy. IMO anyway.

Personally, I don't think he has to prove anything, as anybody else who says the contrary. You choose to believe or not believe them, IMO.

Because he doesn't want, or doesn't care, or didn't read your thread, it regards only him and this is a message board not a court session. JMO

I don't think it was in bad taste to talk about Stevie's men and I think she would find it funny. BUT, for Ghost Tracker, here it is..when I first joined here, somebody warned me about the doubtful on this board. If you do actually know something:
1) You will be called a liar
2) Or delusional
3) Or a stalker
And if it what you know goes against popular belief or theories here, you'll be burned at the stake, lol. So, I'm not saying anybody in this thread is guilty of any of that (Lindsay is a friend of mine! Hi Lindsay!) but Ghost Tracker, it might be better to keep what you know to yourself. It isn't worth the headache. If you know something, be satisfied in knowing you know it. That's enough.

Nickluvver, I am curious about something. Why not question posters who say that Stevie cares nothing about message boards?? Why only focus on one who says the content of some hurts her? I remember reading that someone had "heard" from a source they deem reliable that Stevie could care less about the internet...Ghostracker says he has "heard" that Stevie can be hurt by the content. Why zero in on him?
IMHO, there is no way in Hell Stevie is reading these messages boards. Whether she "hears" watered down versions of topics, on occassion, is unclear. I think Paula commented awhile back that it appeared that some of our comments and questions were being addressed by Stevie very quickly in interviews, etc. People started saying Waddy was cheating on his wife with Stevie and in the next few weeks she stressed at shows how she had "known him since 1971" and that she "views him as a brother". There were a few other things as well, like the Rhiannon movie. Maybe they were just coincidence. I dunno.

Being new here, I never saw anyone else claim to know things about Stevie or not, so I was only curious in this particular instance. I did not intend to make this a thread to bash or upset anyone or zero in purposely on Ghostracker and I apologize if I did. We are all entitled to our opinions about Stevie as this is a free country and I realize that Ghostracker is entitled to keep how they know Stevie doesnt like derogatory things said on this board to themselves. I choose not to beleive it and I will leave it at that. Sorry I started this thread at all.

Listen, I know you're new & I assume you did not mean to cause a problem. Don't worry about it & don't let all of this cause you to stop posting. You have a right to ask someone how they know something & they have the right to either tell you or keep it secret.
For future reference, if something is already being discussed in another thread, people probably shouldn't start another thread about it (even if the person is ignoring your question.) And using someone's screen name in the title in order to demand they answer you might be considered rude.
THAT being said, I also think it's rude for someone to claim they know something as fact & then refuse to prove it or give sources. What's the point? To do the "I know something you don't know" routine? Classy. It's one thing to state general info like "I heard from someone that Stevie is in Hawaii right now" but "I know for a fact that Stevie's mad" seems a bit too personal. Of course people are going to wonder how you know these "facts" so if you don't want to elaborate. Duh.

IMHO, there is no way in Hell Stevie is reading these messages boards. Whether she "hears" watered down versions of topics, on occassion, is unclear.I don't think what she hears is watered down. I think it's dressed up in an extremely virulent, even viperish, anti-Internet mentality. In short, Stevie has probably been brainwashed that her fans on the Internet are a bunch of loathsome, cruel, sick nuts.
Ginny used to tell many of us that Stevie was upset or disgusted by much of what fans said on the Net. Ginny herself felt that way, despite scoping out newsgroups for many years, generally under a pseudonym (IP addresses were traced & found to match). God knows what Ginny & her cohorts were telling Stevie about online activities all those years, but it wasn't pretty.
I can only guess how others see it, but I use the Internet to entertain me. Pleasing or displeasing Stevie Nicks never was my concern, & it still isn't. I pay my monthly ISP bill, not Stevie, & will post my opinions as & where I wish. However, I also expect my own character & sense of decorum will keep me from flinging truly hateful garbage right & left on public forums about Stevie or any other innocent bystanders. That really doesn't get me off. The problem is that definitions of "hateful" or even "inappropriate" seem to vary from person to person.

I just think it is silly to think La Nicks reads these and then changes her act based on the craziness of some 100 (and that is being generous) people. But, who knows if she does and until she tells me she does, which is unlikely, it is all speculation.
However, if she is reading this, I think she would be flattered that these 100 or so people care enough about her to discuss her. That on its own is flattering.

With all due respect, alot of the backlash comes in the presentation of the knowledge  Also, just saying you know something is cool, but people have a right to ask how. That is usually when the person with the knowledge gets all upset. It is sort of like a "how dare you question me" kind of thing. I also think that if people are really close to the band, they will say nothing as I am sure the band would want it that way. So, there are lots of factors at play in this. But, I agree, if you know something and do not want to be questioned on how you know it, it is better off not to say it.

Agreed. Someone posted on one of the funeral threads not too long ago about some of the details of the service. I believe someone asked how she knew; she answered without going into a lot of detail, end of story. So while people surely tend to jump on those who claim to be close to the band, I don't think it's quite the snake pit that lagringader&r described.

It is just a pity that some folks confuse the ability to express criticism, with their apparent base need for "flinging hateful garbage," as you put it.
But that's true for all parts of society.

I can't remember which interview Stevie said this but it was something to the effect that "sometimes she has to worry more about the people that are around her..."
