Okay ladies, Brazilian Wax. Who has? Who hasn't? I never have but am considering it. Tired of shaving. Do I do the full monty, or leave a tiny mohawk? I hear the result's can be very erotic and sensual. Is the pain worth it? Come on, speak up.

Sorry ladies not my territory I know, but I think I am in the know here - get it done, leave a mohawk and have a glass of wine (or more) first. Course it hurts - ever heard of back, sack and crack?

It's gotta be better than trying one of the Sally Hansen waxing kits from the store.....I tried that last week....sonofabitch, that REALLY hurt. SKIN came off with the wax, not just hair. Looks like I've got a niiiiice hickey on my inner thigh. SEXAAAAAY! :o

aaaah bless you - never had a sack and crack meself, but have been afflicted with shoulder hair probs and have that regularly waxed. Several lady friends of mine have told me that it is worth the pain, which is fairly brief considering the relatively small (but sensitive) area that is being waxed

 A friend of mine had good results from a home kit, so she said. Apparently I'm an idiot and didn't do it right...but how else could I have done it? Heat wax, apply wax, apply little paper thingy, rip off paper thingy along with wax (and part of leg and/or nether regions), and let out a blood-curdling scream.

I would do it in a heartbeat if I had the money. I hate shaving. Especially shaving it all off! I don't do that all the time, but everyonce in awhile it's a nice little suprise for the BF. Regrowth is a bitch though! I tried the home waxing one and also had a bad experience. I couldn't get the wax off of my skin! I'm sure I probably did it wrong, but it still hurt like hell. I tried that foam hair remover, too. That irritated me so bad AND it didn't remove the hair.

ok...I bought that veet home waxing system..and let me say..OW MOTHER F*CKER OW MOTHER F*CKER OW!!!! OMG...I bruised...and welped*L* and I only got one side done. The plus side..(if there is one) is it DOES work...it was smooth as a baby's butt. I did the landing strip..well...ya know...one side-I don't know what you would call that *L* but the second time i did it..it WAS a little easier. Just took a rag and put it in my mouth so I didn't scare the dogs and the neighbors as I screamed bloody murder. yeah..it comes with this.."comfort spray" :distress: ooh..no*L* !!! huh uh....doesnt work. I think the worst part is...you have to pull it off yourself. Unless you can find some poor unfortunate soul that will rip it off for you. It says.."hold the skin taut with one hand and with the other hand, grip the bottom of the strip. In one swift and decisive movement, remove the strip against the growth of the hair" that's right ladies.....one swift and DECISIiVE movement..because if not...your gettin' half way thru and you're going the rest of your life with a waxing strip hanging off your leg...

OTOH, have you noticed that gay men also tend to be smooth, like pre-teen boys? Let's face it, men are sluts for the smooth! Since youth is considered sexy in almost all cultures, maybe there's some biological reason behind it.

I'm kinda like lux..I felt like a little kid or something *L* and this is totally weird talking about this with perfect strangers*L* but I guess that's what makes it perfect..anyway...I usually just do the landing strip...don't want little crazies sticking out of the undies...and then trim the rest real short....but still have something there..

ha ha, this thread is great! i am definitely a fan of the brazilian and i think the pain is totally worth it, but that is just my opinion. if you've never regularly waxed any part of your body at home before, then my advice is to get it done by a professional at a salon. they will be able to do it faster than yourself, minimzing the number of times you scream out in ungodly pain. the good thing is that it definitely hurts less with repeated waxings (whether that's because you get used to it, or you're killing nerve endings, i don't know. . .).
if you want to try doing it yourself, there's a wax that surgiwax makes just for brazilians. it sticks to the hair, not to the skin. i use it when i don't have money to go to the salon.

nope, i've never heard of that . .i was looking on drugstore.com though, and apparently the surgiwax product i was talking about just incorporated some "numbing antiseptic" into their package. here's a link (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=142181&catid=50625&trx=PLST-0-CAT&trxp1=50625&trxp2=142181&trxp3=1&trxp4=0&btrx=BUY-PLST-0-CAT) they never had that before! not sure if it works well, but i do know that this wax is 800 times better than the usual kind that you rip off with strips. now THAT is a form of archaic torture.

I have to jump in on this thread - TMI? Hey, Bikechic started it!
I've never had a wax - and for me personally, I don't like the totally bald thing cuz I think it makes the popo look like chicken skin - but every once in awhile, especially in the summer, I'll go all bare...
The landing strip - Well, being a Jewish girl, I can't tolerate the Hitler moustache landing strip, so I go for more of a triangle mohawk thing...
As for tips on shaving and maintaining: Maybe some of you already know, or maybe this will help: If you loofah that area often, especially before shaving, it will help w/ those pesky ingrown hairs. I always use a brand new razor and shaving cream (never soap) and as soon as I get out of the shower, I apply my eye gel "down there." It's got aloe vera in it and it's very soothing. I then put vitamin E oil on top of that.
That surgiwax, stencil kit sounds interesting! :D
Edit: Remember when Samantha on Sex and the City grew hers out because her bf "liked a full bush?" LOL And then she tried to dye it cuz she found a gray pube and it came out bright red. She was mortified, and showed it to Carrie, "I'm Bozo the Bush!"

Some questions...Are y'all referring to legs at all or mainly...there? And if you're referring to the latter, do I want to offer my input or share personal stories/trauma?
Also, why is it that the Veet commercials make it look like a tamer version of Nair or something? From watching the commercials, I always assume that stuff doesn't do squat. I don't think Nair is always a guarantee, either.
As for the waxing, I have never tried that on any part of my body. It really scares me. I've heard horror stories, and now I have some from this board to add to my mental list.
Also, Josh, that comment about girls not wanting to have racoons between their legs truly grossed me out. Thank you. That being said, when I look at a magazine like Playboy, I am NOT turned on by those women who look like they just started growing pubic hair. That does nothing for me. As Lux said, they look like they're twelve or something. I was about twelve the first time I saw Playboy, actually. My brother had quite a collection of magazines. I remember being thorughly confused when looking at the pictures. I actually said to my brother, "These women aren't as developed as I am." He grabbed the magazine out of my hand and exclaimed, "They certainly are more developed than you are! You don't understand!" But at the time, it never occurred to me that people would shave that.

Well, it is not to look as if you are 12, it is usually done from a personal hygene perspective. Also, it is sexy to some to have the genetalia more apparent. But, few shave it all off a la a 12 year old.

That's how I can't help but look at it, anyway. I can understand the genitalia thing, though. Also, there's the swimsuit thing, and I don't know how else to get around that. I don't know what the hygiene issue is, though. I don't see that as a problem. This thread is way too gross for me but I'm still wondering that, always wondering that. I know guys often prefer younger women but I'm thinking along the lines of 20 year olds, not 10 year olds. And then often what women find comfortable and attractive for themselves is just what society finds attractive being ingrained and reflected in them. Anyway, I'll always be waiting around for an answer.
But, many men shave too - so the same reasoning could apply to both or even somewhat negate the analogy to youthful desire

It's a fad.
I can tell you from working where I have for nearly two years, brazilian waxing? Something I would never get done. Let me enlighten you all. Firstly, if you have it done in a spa, the cost is ridiculous. $68 to be dipped in hot wax, only to have the hair grow back shortly thereafter? Dumb. Secondly, if you think you can't get ingrown hairs from having a brazilian, I assure you, you can (using witch hazel may help but grab a towel and put it in your mouth because it's going to burn big time).
Everyone's rate of hair growth differs so what could take two or three weeks to grow in for someone may only take a week or less for someone else. Also, just an FYI for the weary -- you go into the room, change into your robe and are greeted by your esthetician at which point you climb onto a table and lift your legs. After that, you straddle on all fours and they wax the back portion of you. Yes kids, that's right. Brazilian means everything including that area as well.
Also, as far as sanitation is concerned -- they use a wax pot -- and that same wax pot is used for EVERYONE. That means the stick keeps getting dipped and although they change sticks with each person, think of how many times a stick is dipped in when your waxed and multiply that by the 30 people these estheticians can fit in in a day.
I can also tell you that a large majority of the women who are estheticians at my former place of employment do not get brazilian waxes themselves and will tell you that generally, they're no good. Hair is there for a reason. Shaving is one thing taking it all off with wax? quite another.
Also, please don't go into a salon/spa with your "friend" and get waxed. I have stories that would make you puke. Also, don't tell me about how you're nine months pregnant and you want a brazilian wax because nine months ago is when you had your first and your husband loved it. Thanks.

Permanent, as in forever. Wow, what happens if the "bush" makes a come back? Although that does sound good!
The areas that I had treated have experienced minimal regrowth. I had it done about 5 years ago. For the most part there has been no regrowth at all. The whole attractive image is of females who look about 12, it's just another factor in that. Why must I get it out of my head? I thought it was just known.....? I'm not saying why you personally do it but often times I wonder if it weren't so taboo if guys would just openly perve on 12 year olds. It all doesn't help to disprove what I was told about matured qualities being less attractive.
Probably, since until the last few centuries, nearly every culture in the world married the daughter off right after, or within a year or two of her getting her period. We're "civilized" now, though. Okay, mormons excluded, they may still do that....

I don't know how 12 year olds look in Australia but here, many look far more mature than 12 and men do openly perve. Then again, i'd never allow my hypothetical twelve year old daughter to walk around with her ass hanging out of her skirt, etc.

it baffles me too. i've never been interested in going totally bald but after some pressuring from a BF and my own curiousness taking over, i tried it, and HATED it. i felt like a little kid and thought it was totally a disgusting sight on a grown woman. but it seems that almost everyone i know is into it. yuck. gotta keep some hair.

The fact is that our society has moved away to older girls being looked on...in a way I don't see why it is seen as so disgusting given it was the norm for so many years, lets face it...it is a biological thing.
Now I am young so maybe I see it differently and yer you may look twice if you see a huge guy with a beard hooking up with a chick with no tits...I mean even at my age I would never go for a girl that young only because of emotional understanding and capacity, but biologically I just don't get the sickness really.
(Sorry if that made no sense...very tired at the moment :( )
ok...I bought that veet home waxing system..and let me say..OW MOTHER F*CKER OW MOTHER F*CKER OW!!!!
How do you get all the obscure ones that are in those...sort of..."hidden places"? I'm a shaver myself. It's easier, much less painful and with a sharp blade it can be done just as smoothly.

Have you ever tried Nair or any other depilitory? I used to use them but I just hate waiting around with that stuff all over my legs. I never tried it on the bikini area though. No, I've only ever shaved that area. The directions for those waxing creams always scare me when they say DON'T get the cream directly on the genital area. :(
That is just because the skin is more sensitive to irritation. If you get it on there just wipe it off.
Alternatively, pluck it!

Between this and the Stevie's men thread, gawd, FINALLY something to talk about. I shave. All of it. Every day. It's for my comfort and it's something I'm used to now. It's also great for the guy, as MyLittleDemon pointed out. ALSO and a BIG added bonus..mindblowing orgasms. No hair in the way of anything. Also, it feels more hygenic and there's no odor ever.
As for the guys checking out 12 year olds, yep. When I was 12, I looked 20 and older guys were always hitting on me. 20s, 30s and yep, looking back, it was sick. In their defense, they thought I was older. But let's face it, when a 12 year old opens her mouth to talk, you know she's 12.

Is it that cream you buy at the store? I have heard bad stuff about that. That it burns like hell. Have you tried it? I am interested in whether or not it works. My birth control pills have somewhat destroyed my normally orgasmic self.

It's kinda nice isn't it? Strange that I feel more comfortable discussing my personal life with complete strangers more than people I physically know. Maybe I just need more girlfriends who aren't family members!

Well, considering a certain Ledgie, who shall remain nameless, dispatched me once to buy Febreze and pads for her  I almost DIED in that store. I waited until just about no one was around and bolted to the counter cash in hand  NEVER do that to men - it horrifies us
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, I bought it at a Fantasia Party (home sex party or as we call them here F**kerwear Parties). It's called Jardin "Secret" Garden, female orgasm enhancing cream, here's their website, http://shunga.com/pages/en_home.asp?ctry=1 I think it works but I was already doing pretty good in that department  I also bought the raspberry flavoured "Sweet & Blow" gel, hubby really likes that

Yes but they used to burn witches so is that a biological thing too?
How would that have been biological? I guess I missed something.
In any event, it IS a biological thing. Why have women found ways to cover up and lie about their age for centuries? Why have men left their wives of 40 years for a twenty something? Because young women are seen as being able to produce more children than older women. There is a finite amount of eggs a woman can produce. That's why in some of the older cultures Amber was referring to they sold off a young daughter. Even if they weren't yet physically able to have kids, the buyer knew they would soon be ready. On that same note, when do women tend to dress their sexiest? When they're ovulating, thus most likely to get preggers.
But, hey, it works both ways. If a woman had to choose between a janitor who looked like Chris Farley or a janitor who looked like Brad Pitt, she'd probably go for the guy who looked like Brad Pitt. He is the stronger, healthier of the two. Now, if you had to choose between the janitor who looks like Brad Pitt and Bill Gates, Bill Gates would probably win because women know he could provide endless security.
I hate to burst anybody's bubble, here, but we ARE animals, too. As such, we too have animal instincts.

Why thank you! I've always wondered if that kind of stuff worked. Most people say it doesn't, but like I said it's stuff you can buy at Walgreens they are talking about. I'm going to have to check out this website. ;)
