Hands, touchin' hands
Reachin' out
Touchin' me
Touchin' you

I f*cking love me some Neil Diamond. I saw him live last night & that guy still rocks. We had seats in the upper level, but they upgraded us to lower level behind the stage. We were unsure about this, but figured if the seats sucked we could just move. They turned out to be really good, he has a walkway around the entire stage so he played to us quite a bit and there was a huge screen right in front of us, so we saw everything.

Of course, at 30 we were by far the youngest ones there. Too funny. People looked at us like we were nuts. Oh, and Neil? Has groupies! There were a few chicks in the front few rows all whored up for him, jumping around & holding up signs. I like the guy, but I don't think he's hot or anything. Nice ass though, he must work out. :p

He sang for over 2 hours straight & sang pretty much every song I can think of EXCEPT "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon" (which I hate - so I didn't really care) and "Solitary Man" (which I love - very disappointed he didn't do it.)

Cherry, Cherry
Play Me (teeheehee)
You Don't Bring Me Flowers (barf)
Kentucky Woman
Shilo
Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show (possibly my favorite Neil song - he closed with this)
America (so much fun)
Love on the Rocks (...ain't no surprise...)
The Grass Don't Pay No Mind
Crunchy Granola Suite (opener)
Desiree
Forever In Blue Jeans (wait, maybe this is my favorite)
Jonathon Livingston Seagull (stupid video of this stupidass seagull)
Holly Holy
Soolaimon
I Am, I Said
I'm a Believer
Sweet Caroline (probably the only tims the majority of the crowd was up on its feet.)
There were 3 or 4 more that I didn't recognize.

Oh, and I got a kickass shirt. Its a black fitted long sleeved T that says "Diamond Girl Forever" on the front with pink rhinestones around it :o and "Neil Diamond Tour 2005" down one sleeve. They also had a cool orange long sleeved T shirt (not fitted, more of a man's shirt) that I loved but I could only afford one ($38 each) & I'm a sucker for sparkles.

Yup. I'm a loser. And I don't care who knows it. :D

Anyone else love The Neil? Favorite/least favorite songs?

Did he wear a sequined shirt? Did he?

Favourite Diamond tune: Cracklin' Rosie.
I love the way it speeds up.

Oh and Play Me
"You are the sun, I am the moon
You are the words, I am the tune
.... play me"

genius!

I would go see him. Not by myself, though. I like a lot of his songs.
Score, Paula.
:woohoo:

Ah, Trackie, I knew you'd bust it out. :blob1:

I love me some Neil Diamond. Love him. Sounds like a great show, but I adore "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon," Paula. :p Especially in Pulp Fiction when Uma is snorting heroin. I'm officially jealous, you lucky wench.

MMMWWWWWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

That's my evil laugh.

Actually, "Girl..." has grown on me slightly over the years, but still not a fave. The music? Kickass. The lyrics? Blech.

I've had a crappy day today, but just to hear that makes me feel heaps better.
Neil is still wearing his sequined shirts and all is right with the universe.

I so regret not going to see him live earlier this year.

Paula please, please, please post a picture of your Diamond Girl shirt!

I saw him a couple of weeks ago in Chicago. The shirt was black and sparkly. Beautiful!

I was disappointed he didn't sing "You Got To Me," as it is my favorite. The groupies ARE amazing, though. They were alternately the funniest yet creepiest thing I've ever seen...

... and Paula, if you felt out of place, think how I felt. At 22? Definitely got some weird stares.

Wel, ya know, I do look about 22, so...

JK - it was weird. I felt SO out of place. It was definitely an all-white middle class middle age environment. It didn't help that we were sucking the beers down either - well, it helped us, but it didn't help the people around us  . We weren't obnoxiously drunk, but there were more than a few "We love you Neil! Play ME, Neil" s yelled out.

I like this part: "But that trusty left arm took over in "Play Me." He raised it softly over the crowd, as if to urge, "I bestow these profound lyrics upon thee - now be moved." He pointed to the ground at the start of "Love on the Rocks," knowing he'd summoned the spirit of a desperate night in a smoky lounge. "

I also like the song Shilo a lot.

actually october...

morningside is my favorite

Morningside
The old man died
And no one cried
They simply turned away
And when he died
He left a table made of nails and pride
And with his hands he carved these words inside
For my children

Morning light
Morning bright
I spent the night
With dreams that make you weep
Morning time
Wash away the sadness from these eyes of mine
For I recall the words the old man signed
For my children

And the legs were shaped with his hands
And the top made of oaken wood
And the children sat around this table
Touched with their laughter
Ah, and that was good

Morningside
An old man died
And no one cried
He surely died alone
And truth is sad
For not a child would claim the gift he had
The words he carved became his epitath
For my children

Nice, Trackie, real nice. I give you what you asked for & you don't even have the decency to reply. You're probably too busy with Lionel's clay head.

Say, what other clay parts of Lionel do you have stashed at your place?
