You know, I really like this forum, because as much as I love Stevie, it really annoys me when people think she's the only thing that makes Fleetwood Mac go. I'm not trying to diss Stevie at all, but I think it's really important to remember that there are other people in the band :)

I think Christine was the balance in the Rumours lineup.
Now they sound like Buckingham Nicks backed by Fleetwood & McVie - which actually isn't bad but something's missing.

The heart is what's missing. :distress:
But, I'm happy that she's happy. She's certainly earned it.

Another thing I think isa important to note is this; if Christine wouldve balked at having another girl in the band back in '75, we might not have all the great music that was created after that.

Remember even Chris herself described it now as Buckingham/Nicks with Mick & John in the background.

You know, I appriciate Chris even more because she was her own woman and just decided she'd had enough of Fleetwood Mac, and I'm glad she left on good terms with the band, becasue as we all know, there are more than enough bands to go around with VERY acrimonious breakups

A Lady knows when to make a graceful exit. She was never obsessed with being a "star", just a band member. Quite odd that a "band member" had more hits than the others combined! :sorry: She knew it was time for her to retire, and made her graceful exit. Really, in your 60's, with millions of dollars in the bank, WHY would anyone want to trek all over the globe? I'd make the exact same decision she did.

I think I would as well.
She'd had enough of the touring, of L.A., of her ex and came back to the peace and quiet of the english countryside.
There was no financial reason to make any more records - just the sheer love of making music. She was able to do it at her own pace. No other band members or record company executives nagging her.
And we got (probably) one last listen to the marvellous voice.
Good on yer girl!

Isn't it completely AMAZING how her voice has gotten consistently better over the years. Like fine wine. I can literally think of know one else who can make that claim. "Some" sound like a bag of roofing nails, being regurgitated, now! :sorry:

You've not been here very much lately, Hillary. Everything okay?Hm, I wonder who you were talking about. I can't find it amuisng; I love her voice too much. Or perhaps it's my sort of weird mood, too. Anyway...I didn't know people noticed I'd been gone. You're very sweet. :xoxo: Thanks for asking about me. Everything's okay. School and work just started so I have these small intervals during which I can get on the computer and talk to y'all. I'm missing my lazy summer...my summer of that one overwhelming and oh-so-enthralling and all-consuming crush. (Did I mention that it was/is a pretty big deal? ) Anyway, I don't have a computer in my dorm room. I have to hang out at the university's computer labs. Presently, I should be reading something by Plato and that damn Epic of Gilgamesh, typing notes about Ancient Britain, and/or seeing if my students need help. *insert screaming emoticon* I'll be okay, though. Sorry for the long response; I know you didn't ask for one of my epics. But then, who does? :sorry: :)

davidI've been trying to get into the habit of getting on here in the morning before class/work. Lately I've been up here on the computer around eight in the morning. I'd hate to lose touch with the board completely so I'm going to try to stick with that habit. Same with the Christine board over at her site. Well, I'm heading to the library to snag some weird book I have to read. Again, thanks for your concern. You are very good to me. :)

Arg! You morning people. :( I guess I'll have to read all your posts way after the fact. My last two years of school, I never took a class before 11:15. It was better for me to take a much harder elective at 11:15, than an easier one at 8! Mornings(shudder....).
Hit da books, girl! :woohoo:

I agree with all of that, except I hope you're wrong about In The Meantime being the last listen to that fantastic voice(although I am realistic).
I would have done the same thing she did too, probably even quit a bit sooner than she did. I think we're lucky we got as much from her as we did. By the way I have a magazine interview with her from back in 1984. She said at that time she only wanted another 10 years in the music business, then she wanted the rest of her life to have some fun. She came awfully close to that. She ended putting in another 13 years through the Dance reunion. Perfect timing....
