What's the story behind Stevie & Jose Eber?
We've all seen lots of photos of Stevie in Eber's L.A. salon after she got out of rehab:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7538913571#ebayphotohosting
The teased, puffy perm she got from Eber looks like the same hairstyle she had when Fleetwood Mac filmed the "Little Lies" & "Big Love" videos later that year. Did Eber do Stevie's hair for those video shoots?
Anecdote: When she played the Inglewood Forum on July 18, 1986, I saw Eber & Friend arrive before "Beauty & the Beast," sit down in the front, & then duck backstage after the song.
I thought at the time, "Why doesn't she make friends with someone who really digs her music instead of someone who just wants to be seen with her?" (Eber was all over daytime talk shows in those days, gabbing about all his star friends -- a typical Hollywood Queen.)
So what was the Stevie-Eber connection all about, & how long did it last?

Well I got some complaints that it scared people so I changed it. That happened before with a sig I posted which was a very, very close up of her duirng the edge walk. I think those scary pics are hilarious but obviously some don't see the humor.
The new sig is the background on my computer at work. My co-worker created it for me in Photoshop when I started a this job a couple years ago because he knew I loved Stevie. I've never changed it. Isn't it beautiful?

It was a contest, with the winner having her hair styled by Stevie. I remember they did a story about it on one of the tabloid shows (ET, I think...).
The winner came in with mousy, brown, semi-curly hair that was pretty long - at least to her shoulderblades. And when Stevie was done, she had a very straight, deep crimson/maroon bob cut or pageboy, like she just stepped off the set of a psychedelic remake of The Great Gatsby. But, the winner *said* she liked it.
Stevie and Jose also gave a short interview, where Stevie gave her "If I weren't a singer/songwriter, I'd be a hairdresser or teacher" speech. Then, they had video of footage of her posing for the press cameras which was a little strange, especially with her aforementioned scary hairdo. She was very robotic, jerking her head around then quickly stopping to pose for separate photographers. But that hair NEVER moved.

Jose IS a fan, he's gone to many Stevie and Mac shows.

OMG Livia I finally saw the finale of Six Feet Under last night (I missed the original airing last week) and I cried my eyes out for 30 minutes I tell you. That closing montage of how they all die was the most beautiful thing I've ever see in my life. It was really inspring, actually. Very, very touching and made me think about just how short life really is and how we must live each day as if it is our last because who the fu*k knows when it's all going to end. Speaking of which, why did such a great show have to end? I am truly saddened. :distress:

I think Stevie should have Chris McMillan cut her hair and Brad Johns do the color. She'd have such a beautiful glossy blonde 'do (not that I don't like her hair now, but it'd be cool to see a few different colors weaved through and a slightly different cut, but still keeping it long!).

Hi Livia ~ I have that same contest on tape somewhere, too!
"We call her red!" LOL She actually seemed pretty happy to be there, in my opinion. They probably had the same PR people at the time...it was very cheesy but OH SO 80's. I wont EVEN get into some of the do's (and dont's) that I was sporting during that era. I went through many cans of Aquanet and hundreds of dollars of Lancome eyeliner and lipgloss!
And yes, Stevie started wearing wigs on the TANGO tour...and, with the exception of the STREET ANGEL tour, we have seen wigs, wiglets and extensions galore for years. And more power to her.
Thats show biz, folks!

I don't think Stevie was wearing a wig in the Red Rocks concert. However, she did go back sometime after the Red Rocks concert was filmed and have new closeups filmed and inserted into the video before it was released. By that time, her hair was somewhat different. That is the difference that I see in the Red Rocks video.
I don't believe Stevie has ever worn actual wigs in concert, although I believe she has used hair extensions on occasion.
Of course, she has worn wigs in photo shoots and at Halloween parties (and at a birthday party circa 1989, for sure).

I seem to recall your wig phase as well, my friend! And where are those Boathouse pics? With your black and white leopard vest and red leather pants??
My favorite extensions are the Sorcerer video ones - where the ends of her hair looked like they were dipped in black ink darkness!

I'm pretty sure the TITN vid was a wig. I was watching an OSOTM boot the other night and that is definitely a wig or a weave.
She's been photographed in dark wigs, also.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure. In that OSOTM DVD I watched the other night, she had these two really long pieces on each side and she would kind of play with them as she sang. Also, her bangs were a different shade of blonde than the rest of her hair so...

Crikey, I loooooove Dolly, but I saw the cover of her new album and gasped. Leave them lips alone, darlin'!
(There's a Dolly boot from a couple of days ago on Dime right now with a bunch of songs from the new album, FYI.)

Myself and a few other fans were hanging around backstage at the Greek in El Lay after her OSOTM show there and Eber showed up and was immediately ushered into the room where Stevie was.Her hair definately was full of extensions and or additions that night it looked like it could easily accomadate a few birds and maybe a couple squirrels without much problem at all.

Ive noticed this as well. On whole Lotta Trouble it looks like she takes it off because her normal hair returns all straight and down with the top hat and she looks great.

I sort of liked this 'do for the short period of time she maintained it. But when it went all overboard for the Tango tour I quickly began longing for the more whispy, feathered look of years prior. For Tango, I would agree with some of the other posters and say there was some extensions or perhaps wigs happening. It was just TOO big, too high and too weird for words.
On the other hand, when the Wilson sisters of Heart were being styled like this in the '86-89 period I was digging it. Go figure.

Way too long if he is responsible for what I call the Rooster do in the Big Love video.
