Well today I was driving home from camping in Michigan and I was listening to Lady From the Mountain on my MP3 player and I really realized something. Up until now all the music that I listened to before I knew about Stevie was just like a phase. I am 13 now and I just got introduced to Fleetwood Mac when my dad started going to thier Say You Will concerts with his then-girlfriend. Then he gave me The Dance CD and I was hooked. Before all that Brittney Spears, Usher, Destiny's Child...all that music I listened to were like phases a kid goes through. So I'm sitting there listening to this wonderful song and I'm like woah. Stevie and her music are going to stick w/ my for the rest of my life. For some reason I never thought about it that way before. It was GREAT! So finally I have settled down and found something that I will love forever becuase you know there arn't many things out there that you could love forever. Stevie is deff one of them!

Great post, CrystallinePoet, :o . That's the problem with a lot of popular music--it's faddish and doesn't have "staying power." Part of the reason we all like Stevie and the Mac so much is that their sound is classic and something you can enjoy for a lifetime.

Welcome to the forum! :wavey:

You sound like an absolutely brilliant 13 year old! Took me til I was 17 to make the discovery. But I think you're absolutely right - today's artists are flashes in the pan. I've often wondered... who's going to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 20 years from now?

Interesting little anecdote: Eight years ago this week, I bought The Dance when it was released. I too was 13 (just about to turn 14) and I had never really heard anything by Fleetwood Mac before...I had seen the special on MTV and I really liked it...so I bought the CD on a whim.

For me, I thought that it would just be a phase. Little did I know that eight years later I would still be just as obsessed.

this post, coupled with the AMAZING series finale of Six Feet Under have me so in tears. I love Stevie's music so much and it has meant everything to me at times and it's so weird to think about how long I've been a fan and that it will be with me forever too.

I think it's awesome that you have found Stevie and I am thankful too. She will never let you down. Welcome to the Ledge and best wishes on your journey with La Nicks.

Welcome to the board! It was one year ago this May that I realized that Stevie's music was not going to be a fad for me. I was 14 years old then, and now I can't imagine what my life was like before that day. Not only does being a Stevie Nicks fan allow you to listen to some of the best and most comforting music, it will also introduce you to a world of interesting and understanding people. You can't go wrong with it.

Welcome! I discovered FM in '97 with The Dance as well, and there's been no looking back! TISL is what got me hooked on Stevie as a solo artist, and that's been even more of a fascination. I love it all. :)

Amen!

The first time I heard that song, I knew whoever was singing it had to be amazing! Been hooked ever since. Stevie's songs will be there for you in good times and bad. I echo what everyone has said about glad you found her at a young age. I wish I had discovered her earlier.

Welcome to the Ledge! :wavey: Stevie fans are the best!!! :xoxo:

Congrats and welcome from someone else who fell for Stevie & FM as a child and is still totally enamored. It is a shame that so much of current pop music is just aural fast food, but what is quality is classic and timeless and will always be with you. (Not that I'm dismissing *all* current pop; I still & allways will have a weakness for the members of *NSync. But too much of modern pop is disposable.)

Damn, y'all make me feel old. And I'm only 36!!!

I've been a fan of both FM and Stevie since I was a kid. I really got into Stevie around the time of Gypsy and Stand Back. I'm not sure which I heard first. They kind of run together. But I do remember watching the Belladonna concert on HBO and wondering if she was going to sing either of those, not realizing it was from an earlier concert. I also remember thinking that instead of singing "White Winged Dove" she was singing "one window". LOL!

I've said it before but Stevie's music has gotten me through some of the hardest times in my life. Every time I've been going through a period where either things were really hard or very intense, one of her albums would come out or I would discover an unreleased gem and there was an answer, advice or just words of encouragement. I know it's not like she was answering me personally, but just knowing that someone out there could relate to something I was going through always made me feel better.

Funny thing is that I remember getting Rumors for the first time in college and I was amazed that I already knew most of the songs, just didn't know they were Fleetwood Mac.

I just realized something - when I first became a hardcore Stevie fan about 3 years ago I owned 3 Stevie/FM CD's - 1988 Greatest Hits, The Dance, and Timespace. Now here's the funny part - I bought The Dance when it came out in 1997 because I really liked Stevie but I NEVER listened to it. All those years I assumed it was dance remixes of their greatest hits lol. Then I finally went back and listened 3 years ago and from that point on I was a hard core fanatic so I guess I fell in love with Stevie from The Dance also. Too cool :).
