I was just curious, if you were a big time star - Stevie or whoever, would you collect your own stuff they put out? I am not sure if I would "collect" per se, but I would want one of whatever they issued - just so I knew what was out there. Or is this (as the Beaver would say) "kinda creepy"?

I probably would - like you said though, I don't know about "collect" but I would want stuff I was in.

I mean I keep everything NOW - so why not if I was famous...I have newspaper clippings, magazines etc that I was in...so I'd probably keep them - and even if I didn't - I'm sure my mom and other various family members/friends would :p then they'd send me various copies....

Exactly what I'd do. Try to get one of everything - not to display or anything tacky, just to have for my own personal history.

However, I'd make sure I got lots of copies of certain highly collectible things and all my major releases, to sign and give out to fans who sent me nice notes, or came to multiple shows, etc.

One of my favorite Stevie stories was the one where she gave a fan her bracelet during a concert. The fan noticed it was about to fall off, and alerted Stevie about it. So, she took it off and reached out to give it to the fan. But then, someone else grabbed it out of her hand, and Stevie freaked. She stopped the concert and screamed at the guy to give it to the intended person.:laugh::laugh:

It was reported in one of the music mags, during the WH or RAL tours. No I can't be more specific. :sorry:

I would. It would be cool to have for children, grandchildren, ect... That and it would be part of my personal history, so why not?

 I don't know if I would. Of course I'd keep copies of cds and videos, but I think it would be a little bit creepy to have newspaper articles and pictures of myself around the house.

I don't know. I was an extra in a low budget movie and I still don't even have the DVD. Hey, I don't even know if it is on DVD.

haha...I would definitely do the same! But I don't think I'd put any of my stuff on display outside of that specific room, otherwise it's just too tacky :p

LMAO! I've never heard that before, what a riot.

I'd probably keep stuff for, like you said, my own personal history, but I wouldn't fuss over any of it or display it. I'd be too embarrassed and it would be too tacky, imo. No way would keep articles or newspaper clippings, not that kind fo stuff. Just my professional work. I see that crazy wench Whitney Houston with photos of herself all over her house and I shake my head in disbelief. You've really gotta be in love with yourself to do that and if you are, that's scary.

Yes, and commonly called narcissism.

 Yep. I *think* it was Rolling Stone. And they even had a pic of Stevie onstage at the mike, obviously pissed, holding up and staring at her bare wrist.

I tried Googling to find it, but evidently the history of the world doesn't go back that far.

Hey Jill - have a scanner by chance??? :D

I would try to keep everything, but I wouldn't display it in my house or anything. I might display awards if I had some, or maybe frame a record or something, but I certainly wouldn't have my house decorated in me. That would be so bizarre..and narcississtic, like Richard B said.

Well I keep all my newspaper clippings in a folder somewhere - I tell myself that one day I'll scrap book them...and I have to awards and stuff...I use one as a door stop and another as a book end  The others are in boxes somewhere waiting for the day when I get an actual office.

So I don't have pics of myself all over my house or anything - but like on my desk at work I have pics of me w/ various NPR personalities....is that narcisistic (I think I just butchered that word)?

And at home I've got some of my family and I'm in them...I always get paranoid that I've got too many pics of myself around

I doubt I would collect stuff on myself. Perhaps some of the major articles, awards, etc. but not everything. Most stuff is just crap and takes up space.

If I were famous I probably would collect everything I was in, just because I'm a sentimental pack rat that way.

On the other hand, I don't think I'd ever want to be famous. Because although I might get a kick out of collecting myself, I'd be totally creeped out by the idea of someone else collecting me. I think it would just be too weird if countless strangers had pictures/posters of me hanging on their walls. It's just wrong somehow. 'Course that's not going to stop me from collecting my favorite celebs... but ya know... I've always been slightly hypocritical.

Depends on how good I looked in the pics....
Naw. I'd probably have stuff, but I sure wouldn't Whitney it up.
I'd want to have it for posterity, but actually collecting things would be way too time consuming, so it probably wouldn't be me that did it, I'd probably have one of my hire ees do it. :p There'd be some giant storage room i never went into...

You would have to hire someone to keep track of it all. NOW there is a Stevie job I would do!!!! (oh come on.... keep it clean!)

It's an idea that sounds good, but hell I don't have tapes or dvds of the 90% shows I have worked on. More than 90%. I don't even photo all my work anymore. Just the really sweet stuff. I probably should, but I don't. Ain't gonna pay the bills. I'll probably wish I did when I am old. It's a lot of work. And I'm not famous, I just create a **** load of stuff all the time.

This is a good question, because I was wondering recently ..

When I was lucky enough to speak to John briefly backstage in Sydney, I asked him to sign my copy of the Cool Water record (B-side to Gypsy). He seemed a bit confused. I was like "It's the song that you sang on.. I thought..?" Then he's like "Ohhh, yeah" like it was a flashback to the past. I joked that it was a terrible waste of his burgeoning singing career that they reduced the volume on his vocals so much. As he left he replied that it was probably for the best, and gave a wink. ;)

Annnyway, I was thinking recently.. Oh no, I should've just given the record to him. Is it naiive to think that he would have Fleetwood Mac B-sides floating around his house? Oh well, I've got it now :sorry:
