I am at the point of obssession! This song has almost replaced my all time favorite Sara!
Id like to know how others feel though. And the injustice of it not being released on an album and hitting the charts is unfathomable!

You are not alone. Many people are obsessed with this song and many consider it one of their top Stevie songs ever. When we did a poll or some kind of survivor game a while back this song came up I believe as the all time #2 Stevie song behind Edge.
Many adore it, I am not one of them however. I think it's a beautiful song and I like it a lot but it's nothing to write home about and my no means a favorite of mine. I'm glad you love it! That's the best feeling to fall in love with a song as you have.

Hi - I have been a lurker here for sometime and this topic has brought me out of the shadows. I was at the taping of Storytellers - sat first row center in the chairs. During the Q and A session another audience member had asked Stevie what Sleeping Angel was about and she nicely said she didnt want to talk about it.As you could imagine my lifelong dream was to meet or talk to Stevie and during the taping , both of my wishes came true. She called on me and I asked her if she would please tell us the story of Rhiannon, she laughed a little and said "Well of course I an going to tell you about that - later! " I was nervously embarrased, bowed my head and said thank you and she asked me if I had another question. I replied " Well my question was going to be about the story of Sleeping Angel but you said no." Stevie replied sweetly "Would you like me to tell you about the story of Sleeping Angel?" I said "Yes, please." Stevie said "Alright then". She began to tell us that the song was all about her dating record exec. Doug Morris, about how they would be together forever and grow old together- hence the lyrics about him unbraiding her soft silver chain of hair. She also talked about seeing Fast Times with him at the movies and hearing the song played and what that was like. I thanked her so much and was able to hug, kiss, and talk for a second after the taping. My question did not air, but I was able to obtain the unedited version from a friend. Thanks for a cool topic that brought me out in the open . Sleeping angel is my favorite Stevie song.

Me too! I snuck into the theater to see "Fast Times" just because I wanted to hear the new Stevie song! (I was 13 or 14 at the time, and it was rated R...) I immediately loved it - great song, great vocal, and used perfectly in the movie, unlike nearly all of her other soundtrack songs.
The worst part was that I had to save allowance money to buy the soundtrack, and it took a couple of weeks. It was truly hell.
And, great story Nicksluvver! Welcome!

I thought they used her songs wonderfully in Practical Magic!

Sleeping Angel is stunning. I love the mandolin part so much. It moves me.

She actually said his name was Doug Morris? I had not heard that name before. The only record executive I had heard of her dating was Paul Fishkin.
Question for the people who have seen the movie: What is happening when the song is played? Is a lot of it played? I saw Heavy Metal, and they barely make use of "Blue Lamp". It is just played for a short bit while the taxi driver is walking into some bar or something.
I love the mandolin part so much.
The mandolin makes the song!

Question for the people who have seen the movie: What is happening when the song is played? Is a lot of it played?I think it's played during the part when the Jennifer Jason Leigh character is on her way to the abortion clinic. I guess they play about 30 or 45 seconds of the song, which is pretty good for a song in a movie like that.

Yeah and Judge Reinhold's character is laying in his bed pondering it all and Jennifer Jason Leigh. I think the songs begins when he turns on his radio in his room.

My mistake! It was Paul Fishkin, not Doug Morris - not sure how I got that name in my mind! When you watch Storytellers, during the credits you see 2 girls with long brown hair who look like sisters standing and clapping in the front row, the shorter girl is me!! Anyome who has the unedtied version can see my question. As for when the song plays in the movie ,the song starts when Mike D'Amone is on the phone trying to get money for Stacys abortion, I think.
