O.k...everyone says to "jump in there" so...I want to know what you guys are OCD about, if anything. So this will either be a fun little thing...or another newbie "bites the dust" with no replies *LOL* ;)

anyway..here are a few of mine:
in no particular order
(btw..sorry if this has been done)

I ALWAYS have to wash my clothes, sheets...curtains..anything before it is used.
I cannot STAND when people push their eyebrows against the growth of the hair...*twinge* just really gets me...*L*
when I get a straw, I push the straw out of the paper wrapper and blow thru it to make sure there is no "residual" paper left over. I know..crazy..hahah..even when the wrapper is plastic I still do it out of habit.
that's all I have for right now*L* I'll post more as I think of them :)

As I get older, I seem to be accumulating more and more of them.

The fax machine is my worst enemy. I check the number I put in, say a thousand times, to make sure it's correct.

I have to watch my washing machine fill up with water.

I think those are my main two.

I'm totally OCD'd. Like on really stupid things too. Like if I bite a nail on my left hand, I have to bite that nail on the opposite hand. Just to make it even. Let's see, what else...

- Door knobs. They must be turned a certain number of times. (Ever see As Good As It Gets? )

- I must knot my shoes four times.

- My bed's covers must be perfect before, during and after I sleep in them. And I WILL flip out and fix them in the middle of the night.

I'll post more...

The meat and bun on my hamburgers must match up. If there is extra bun hanging, I push the meat all the way to the opposite edge, eat the overhanging bun, and then get back to eating my burger.

Other than that, I'm just a clean freak. Nothing psychotic though like Mark Summers (spelling?) having to straighten out each tassle or fringe on his rugs.

Even. I'm one of the least OCD people you'll ever meet, but, when I am putting stuff up on my wall, the shapes have to align in a certain way. And, on my body, I like things even. I could never have one of anything pierced.
Mainly just with my walls, though. And, I suppose, my clothes. I like to have all shapes and colors, anywhere, aligned how I want them. I guess that's not real serious, though. I have few "clean" issues. Like ryan, I don't like when my nails are different sizes. I hate when other people attempt to help me with "cooking" or "cleaning my own house" but I don't think that's OCD.

I only take certain pathways to my destinations, though. When I'm walking with a friend, and they try to walk on a different street than I usually take, I don't go with them. But that's because, I pick the prettiest streets! that's probably my worst OCD thing. :)

I like that one, I'd be the same way. But...I'm more careful, because I like to drive fast and recklessly... I always stop behind the line. That drives me nuts.

I am horrible with cleaning and organization. If anyone moves ANTHING in my room an inch, I notice and have to move it back immediately.

When I carry my books? Big to small. Can't have it any other way.

My notebooks for school? The papers have to be perfectly in the pockets and perfectly aligned.

If other people tell me to watch their stuff or something, I will go through and organize it. In 7th grade, people paid me 10 effing cents to clean their trappers.

Things on the wall? Cannot be crooked. Drives me insane.

If I'm wearing jewelry, the bigger bracelet goes closest to my hand, so it doesn't touch the smaller bracelet. (Does that even make sense to anyone but me? LOL)

In my closet, I have a spot for my jeans, then t-shirts, then sweatshirts. My shirts are organized by color.

If I get some kind of sandwich from a restaurant, everything has to be perfectly lined up. The meat on a burger cannot be sticking out.

Nailpolish MUST be the same color as my shirt and shoes. I cannot wear a black skirt with black pants. Shirt and shoes always must be the same color. Also, if you are going to wear the same color shirt and pants? One better not be a different shade than the other. Like, if your shirt is a black, and your pants are faded black. No, just no.

I can't think of anymore! If I get more, I'll post. LOL

I definitely have some OCD tendencies. A couple...

It doesn't matter how late I get in from a trip, I have to unpack and put every item from my suitcase in its spot before I go to bed.

I'm one of those people that has a specific pencil at work that if it goes missing or someone else uses it I'll flip. I went so far as to put my name on it. Then again, I draw for a living and its a specific drawing pencil so..... oh forget it, I'm a total freak.

I always have to quadruple check every morning to see if I've unplugged my straightening (or curling) iron because I'm certain that I haven't and that I'll burn my place down.

I'm pretty neurotic about a lot a of things, but these are the ones that bother me the most-

1. Cleaning the house. If there's anything out of place I can't get to sleep.

2. Any magazine I have has to be face down. I feel like whoever's on it is looking at me. :o

3. My car cannot be dirty inside or out.

4. My cds and books must be in order alphabetically and by year.

omigosh, you are the master. I forgot about jewelry stuff, I have issues there. Oh, wait, I said even on my body.
I totally want you to work for me.
It's weird - my grandma is totally....anal....about everything, so my mom was totally chaotic. Her philosophy was....cleaning and organizing is not important, really, or less important than most people think, and it's also really boring. At least, compared to making art. I mean, why clean and organize when you could be doing something way more fun? (although I did clean stuff, and all that)
But now...I feel gypped! I could've been way cleaner and more organized!
But...did you know....cleaning and organizing is something you will do constantly, and forever? Isn't that daunting? Like...."for the rest of my life, I have to do this boring thing. A LOT. EVERY DAY." :distress: If I want something to stay clean, I have to spend time every day making it clean! That is really daunting, to me.

"Cleaning and organizing is something you will do constantly and forever" YES! Thank you for making my day.

I got yelled at the other day, becuase I was sitting in my friends room and she had CDs and CD cases all over her room and none were put together. So, she left, and I put all the CDS in the right cases, and for the hell of it, alphabatized it, too. I slept well that night. :)

god bless you, if you like to clean. I understand, sometimes I like to organize. But really, the closest I come is that thing about decorating. that's where my ocd comes out. - I can't wear denim (I saw ya'll talking about it. It made me think. )

- I organize my CD's a LOT. Usually by band, but on occasion by color, alphabetical order, or general ranking of how much I like them. And I spend a while on that.,

- I must be wearing clean socks. Dirty socks make me feel so scuzzy.

I'm obsessive about cleaning. Like, Joan Crawford in "Mommie Dearest" obsessed. I clean every day. I can't tolerate messes, dust, clutter, and I must vacuum every day without fail. I even wash my bedclothes every other day.

I'm also pretty obsessive about changing around the paintings and photographs I have in my apartment. Everything I have matches each particular room, but I like to change where everything hangs in each room almost every day. For example, my bedroom is essentially black and white with very little color and I have lots of Mapplethorpe black and white photographs (not the sexual ones, you perverts), so I change them around to keep things different.

OH. MY. GOD. Tooooooo-tally! Everything has to have its place in the fridge, in the cupboards, in the closets. I always tell people when they're over that they can help themselves to anything in my fridge (which is true) but it irks when, say, the ketchup didn't go back in its place. But of course you can't say anything for fear of looking like the chick from Misery.

Since the vacation thing was mentioned, I just remembered something.

I had this MASSIVE suitcase when I went to California last week, and everytime it was stood up, my clothes got all moved around. I think I organized the clothes in my suitcase about 50 times. It was VERY ANNOYING.

Oh yeah, the music on my iTunes. It all has to have the correct name and band, the album title and genre, with perfect capitalization. I hate when people have the name in caps or something and spelled wrong. I cannot tell you how many times I've changed my friends iTunes around when they're not looking

Also, the pictures on the computer. You know when you put a picture in paint, and if the picture is smaller than the white space around it, and you save it and paste it somewhere and the white space shows up too? THAT annoys me. I never do that, but I have to fix it if anyone else does it. Did anyone understand that? LOL

EDIT: I just cought myself doing something. I have AOL, and when I have more than 1 IM going, they both have to be directly next to each other and perfectly aligned and NOT overlapping.

I'm done, I'm probably starting to annoy you guys.

I'm often too tired to hang up my clothes at night, so they just get draped across a chair... and they might get put away the next day. Maybe the day after. Maybe not til they've gone through the laundry.

Any takers yet?

Some days, I even forget to make the bed. And did I mention the fur from the dog who sleeps on the duvet?

I wish I had that cleaning gene. Truly. My place is not a pig sty by any stretch, but it's far from spotless. I hate clutter, but sometimes fatigue wins out. :o

Uh... can some of you crazy cleaners come visit me please? Any old time will be fine. I have a dog.... there is always FUR about.... and even a layer of dirt that comes in with said dog.... I'm often too tired to hang up my clothes at night, so they just get draped across a chair... and they might get put away the next day. Maybe the day after. Maybe not til they've gone through the laundry.

Any takers yet?

Your post made me rock back and forth. So, I'll clean it! I'll volunteer Diss too, we'll have your place immaculate. :)

I have to check my alarm clock ten times before I go to bed. Odd. I know.

No it's not- Curtis-I do the same, especially if I have an important meeting that I can't be late for..
How about....
Always making my bed perfectly, Sheets turned down, pillows plumped and propped up, duvet (no wrinkles), and toss pillow perfectly arranged before I can leave the house...goes back to when I was younger-If I had a terrible day, I could always come home and crawl into a bed that looks like its from "Beautiful Homes Magazine", would always make me feel better when I was having a **** day...I know that bed is just waiting for me-crazy but it's me
Being the perfect hostess/bartender- Everyone has to have the correct glass, and perhaps the umbrella-whatever the drink calls for, and I have seasonal little napkins, to place the drinks on, again looks like "house beautiful"
Some of mine are the same as others have mentioned- CD's in alpha order (how else can you find what you want to play?-Nails have to be the same length- Money has to be all going in the same direction and in order $20 down to $1-sweep kitchen floor every day (dog hair)- no dishes in the sink.

Basically my house looks like a model home for some development. (I am not bragging, I am just saying that everything has a place, it's always clean, and always looks perfect for surprise company)..It comes from my Mom- Her home was always (and still is) lovely. I like people to feel "at home and comfortable as soon as they walk in the door-So when I walk out the door (even if I am running late,) I have to have everyuthing all set for whoever sees it next :sorry: -a little OCD don't you think????
but hey
Everyone loves my house and coming over to enjoy dinner/cocktails...

Side note funny quip- When I was a kid both my parents smoked and my Mom was obsessive about making sure the ashtrays were clean...My brother,(also smoked) he would sit in the chair with an ash hanging off his cigarette, and getting ready to tap it into the ashtry and he would ask my Mom if she was ready??? Cuz she would be grabbing the windex to clean it up...  Silly but true...Lots of little fires in our trash can from smouldering butts that she cleaned out of the ashtry, before they were cold.
AH memories... Luckily we don't smoke..or I may have another compulsion to add to the list.

Eclipse: I also must have my money right side up, facing the front & in order of amount in my wallet.

The sheets thing - I identify with Ryan on this one. I cannot tolerate sheets/blankets that are crooked, rumpled, don't line up, etc. The sheet cannot hang over on the side of the bed farther than the comforter does. The sheet must be at about the same height (under my chin) as the comforter or blanket, or slightly lower. It CANNOT be higher. Ever.

Also, I have to "whip" the sheets & blanket in the air before I get into bed to eliminate any wrinkling or bunching up at the end of the bed. This drives husband absolutely crazy. If he goes to bed first, he'll literally just crawl in no matter where the sheets are - they could be half on the floor & he'll still get in & go to sleep  . Then I come up & have to tear the sheets off of him & whip them. Whip them good.

Food - I don't mind if my food touches as long as no juice or sauce gets on the other food. For example: It's OK if my baked potato touches my steak, but it is NOT OK of steak juice gets on the potato. I also don't ever slop up sauce with bread like some people do. Soggy bread - ew.

CD's are alphabetized. Who's aren't?

When fidgeting, I must fidget equally bilaterally. I mean, if I touch my thumb to my pinky finger, then I have to touch the rest of the fingers in order on both hands. No skipping & no getting crazy like touching the pinky, then the pointer, then the middle, then back to the pinky. It must be pinky, ring, middle, pointer or the opposite.

That is all. I think.

Oh many....

When I leave in the morning, I can't walk out of the house unless all my blankets, shoes and anything else that is placed or arranged around the house is put in it's proper place.

I cannot go to bed with dishes in the dishwasher.

At my store, ALL my bills HAVE to be faced to one side--not one bill out of place. They also all have to be arranged in perfect piles.

My clothes in my closet have to be in "color" order.

My underwear all have to be facing the same way in a pile.

My socks all have to also be facing the same way, in a pile.

I cannot leave trash in my car! A water bottle is allowed but that is it.

After 8 PM hits ( or when it gets slow) I cannot work anymore at my store unless the floor is swept and the tables are residue free.

At work, I have medium and large screens, I cannot have the large mixed with medium, they MUST be in their own neat piles.

My wallet has to be faced too.

There are more but I am very, very, very strange.

Hmm...

When I eat anything, the food has to be flat and nicely even on the plate. The same goes for a bowl of cereal, after every bite I flatten it all down. There cannot be any type of rise or bumpiness.

I cannot abide clean and spotless rooms. My room must be messy and cluttered or it doesn't feel like home. I'm totally not joking.

Oh, another thing to do with eating - seperate foods CANNOT touch each other! Never ever!

I cannot sleep with my door open.

I absolutely MUST press any buttons I see. This is vital.

herm...that's all I can think of now.

The meat and bun on my hamburgers must match up. If there is extra bun hanging, I push the meat all the way to the opposite edge, eat the overhanging bun, and then get back to eating my burger.

Me too. I don't really like eating hamburger meat, so not having bread to go with it...drives me insane. Remember the Wendy's ad back in the 80's (with Clara "Where's the beef?") and that gigantic bun and the little bitty meat patty....that's my ideal burger. Lots of bread, very little meat. LOL

I have lots of stuff that has to be a certain way. I'm an only child, that may have something to do with it...also, I was brought up by an overprotective mom who never fails to tell me to lock all the doors, and then check them again. I like symmetry. If something is off balance, I fix it.

And....uh...my clothes in my closet are situated by color.

I'm weird. I know.

Wow, I thought I was the only person that had to sleep with their door closed and I've lived by myself for 5 years!

I think I might have different kind of OCD with my CD's...I have them organized...by colour. Like when you lay them sideways, the colour of the jewel case that shows. Anyway I have two cd towers side by side and one is the cool colours and one is the warm. So one side goes from white, to yellow to orange to red to black (and yes its detailed, like pale yellow to deep, etc) and the other goes white to green to blue to purple to black. It actually looks really cool but its works purely as an interior design element, and **** for organization.

I'm not very neat at all and it is something I am working on. Like Amber, my grandmother is a complete fnatic so my mother rebelled and went the other way. We did not live in filth by any stretch but our home always had that "lived in" look. Also, we were rarely asked to clean our rooms so my room was always a complete sty. Its messy right now and part of the reason is I am still trying to work out how to live in such a small space!

Anyway, Eclipse, I will be up soon because your place sounds wonderful. I'm with you on the glasses thing too, I like to serve my company their drinks in beautiful stemware and they love it.

well well...this thread conjures up the worst in me. I am way OCD in many many ways. My particular problem is with counting. I do it constantly. I count on my toes, count my teeth, count corners, rows, spots, anything I can find and I always have to make it out to be even. A lot of things I do come down to things being even. I chew my food the exact same amount of times on each side. I am obsessively neat and what things in their place. I could go on, but there's not enough bandwidth.

When I was little, my friend wanted to play with my My Little Pony and I had it all nice and neat on a top shelf and I told her no. She ran to my mom "Christy won't let me play with her toys!!" and my mom comes in and goes "Christy, let her play with whatever." and I  and got it down for her....she played with it maybe 10 seconds and went "Let's go play outside." I was  I was like, "No, we are playing with the frickin' thing, you even got my mom in here." GAH!! So, I sent her outside while I put it back nice and neat on my shelf. LOL

I've done this recently. I hate public restrooms. Did you see The Aviator? Man that Hughes was creepy.

I'm also an obsessive counter, I count all the time. I used to have this thing in school where I would count syllables out in groups of 5 and get all anxious if it got quiet and my multiple of 5 was not complete. In my head, I was drawing a star, so if the star was not done, I was not happy. You people are the first to know! Issues.

Yep. Yay, Brian!

I used to have this thing really bad...it still crops up...I would have songs in my head, or put songs in my head, and I couldn't stop saying them in all initials...
over and over...but with all different songs. I couldn't really think of them regularly, only in initials. Like, right now Fire Burning popped in my head. When this was going on, inside my head it would be sung like this: Tee Iiii Enn Efff Beee Jay Aay Eh-Esss Ceeeee...(TINFBJASC - There is no fiyah burnin just a sou-oul cryin').
anyway. as you can imagine, that got pretty annoying. In my head. My head still pops out initials for sentences at quite regular intervals. I can always translate anything into that really fast. (ICATAITRF)

It is on Will Farrell's best of SNL, I think Volume 2. Oh man, I've got to bust that out and watch it again. It is a skit with BOC recording. Fallon is "playing" drums. Farrell is on cowbell and he is overweight with his stomach hanging out and playing the sh*t out of the cowbell. Yet, after every take Walken comes out saying he needs more cowbell!

These people seem like they could just have a regular conversation with you, and I think that would just be so cool!!!

Have a cocktail, maybe some dinner and just you know, chat, laugh and just get to meet them, on a one to one basis- no publicity no cameras, just two people talking

I'm so glad it's called OCD now - I always hated being called anal...

I used to work for a bank and the manager had this thing about making sure all the chairs were pushed in up to the desk when customers were not using them. 20 years later and I still feel the urge to push them in when I go in to a bank.

My CD's, like most who have posted, have to be in alphabetical order. I also hate it when the title on the end of the CD (or record album) doesn't face the same way as the others (especially when it was designed that way).

The paper towel and toilet paper roll has to have the flap over the top rather than underneath.

okay, maybe I am anal

She said, "Ovuh oh cuvuh?"

I said, "Yes, it is warm outside today."

She looked at me funnily.

When I noticed her confused look, I said, "I mean, it certainly is warm weather."

Finally, the haircutter girl next to us leaned over & said, "Should she cut your hair so that it's OVER your ears or slightly COVERING your ears?"
And this relates to toilet paper in what way, David? ;)

Sir David need not be constricted by the boundaries of our "logic" and "rules". He is outside, or above, or something. The cheese stands alone, and all that.

Also, I can't believe no one thought my initial OCD was weird.

and you know what, homie? My TP is under, when I bother to put it on the thingy. :)

That, he is. His verbal skills are far beyond that of we mere mortals.

BUT, you have to look....., hunt...., and find the end when it's underneath. Wasted time. And Homie is ALL about time. And you don't bother to even put it on the thingy? Boy, you're really not much of a housekeeper now, are you?

But I love you guys anyway!!

We were talking about "over or under," so that reminded me of "over or cover" when the Asian woman cut my hair!!

P.S. Get a load of my bitchin' tmesis!!

If you have to hunt because your TP is under, you are a moron. And yes, it has been well established that I am no kind of housekeeper at all. However, I'm sure you will appreciate how fast it is to grab it when it's inches away from me on the side of my tub. :) Truthfully, I don't care if it's over, either. I just happened to put it on when you said that, and it turned out under. Yep. It's all pretty free rollin' and casual at ol' Amber's house. Be yourself, and all.....unless you talk while I want to be quiet...

Well, I knew that, but it was difficult to explain. On the upside, did you notice you've been knighted? I thought you'd be happy. I got my "knighting" certificate online awhile back. It sure came in handy right then!

Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiichelle *she says in her best KY accent* you have your own thread, I'm so proud :p I have some pretty weird OCD tendencies...

I'm really big on like last/first type of things:
I have to wake up to Rhiannon on the first day of school, if this means creating a seperate cd of just this song, so be it.

I got my first kiss w/ Say You Will playing on the radio in the background, it was too good of an oppurtunity to pass up *completely random here, but I really miss the fact that SYW doesn't get played at all anymore, there was like that first month, then nothing! :distress: *

I had to have Rock A Little playing the first time I drove

If it's going to be the last one of something, like the last episode of a show or the last game of a season, then I have to go through this whole routine of songs that I listen to before hand, followed by a cleaning spree, I have no idea why.

My cd's must be on the left side of my bed, and they must be in a particular order, if they aren't I can't do anything until it's fixed.

My tv/stereo/various other remotes have to be lined up on my nightstand, it's the same thing as the cds.

I'm RIGHT there with ya girly!! I have probably 3 or 4 rolls...a couple on the sink, a few on the bathtub..hell..a few may have fallen IN the bathtup*L* that just takes up too much time...and if you have high traffic...it's just gonna have to be changed again, so why bother-same with making the bed. It's just gonna get messed up again..why bother?? *LOL*

I'm getting ready to get creamed, I know..hahah

My money (bills) must all be right-side up and facing forward in my wallet. I cannot stand when people hand me my change and the bills are turned every which way. I have to rearrange them immediately before putting them in my wallet or else I'll keep thinking about it!

So for me it's all bills facing forward, right side up, in increasing denomination from front to back...NO EXCEPTIONS! :D

I'm with you on this one!!! Respect your money, and it will respect you!

Okay, I thought of another OCD thing I've got. I've got a bunch of "wave" petunias outside. 12 pots! :( :( :( You have to pick the dead blooms everyday. Well, I have to count the dead ones. It's usually about 300/day, but I've had over 800 a couple of days! I don't know why I need to know how many I picked, but I do.....
BTW, this is TOO much work! They look great, but I'm never planting petunias again. Just something that needs watering ONLY.

OMG...o.k..this may be a pretty normal thing....or..not..haha
but anyway
went to the grocery yesterday
when I pile up my groceries on the sliding belt thingy *L*
everything has to be put on in a certain order
boxes first, and they have to be lined up very neat-NOT just piled on top of each other. Then comes cans-perfectly spaced, then jugs-(milk, OJ, etc) the frozen bags, then all the other odds and ends, then chips/bread. It's the way it is..there is no other way to do it. And it really bothers me that they just take my perfect organization and just throw it all in a bag.

and in regards to the money thing...I usually dont' have any*LOL* but when I DO have it..it's just lined up how the bank hands it to me*L* who am I to change that?? ;)

I have a fear of tall glasses (I'm afraid they will get knocked over and spill), I only use the short tumbler ones. Wine glasses scare the **** out of me! That's only one of many....... :o Maybe that's not OCD but a phobia instead?

I must have two push pins on each end of anything posted on my info board at work. I cannot just stick one pin in the center and let the paper get all dog-eared.

The toe line on my white cotton socks must be aligned properly with my toes. I can't just pull the socks on and go.

I can only use large sized paper clips. The little ones have got to go.

I can't ever have lemon in my iced tea.

That's all off the top of my head for now.
