1. Tori Amos - Under the Pink (Space Dog and Pretty Good Year are always in heavy rotation here)

2. Jeff Buckley - Grace (soulful)

3. Annie Lennox - Diva (Why? Because she too is soulful)

4. Alanis Morisette - Jagged Little Pill (guilty)

5. Pretenders - Last of the Independents

6. Liz Phair - Exile in Guyville (RAw)

7. & 8. Sarah Mclachlan - Surfacing, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy

9. Tori Amos - From the Choirgirl Hotel (Is there a better Tori song than Northern Lad? No there isn't and it is amazing to see Tori's evolution from Little Earthquakes to UtP to Boys which was crazy and then to follow it up with an album featuring a full band)

10. Sheryl Crow - Sheryl Crow (Every song is enjoyable, and the "in your face" message to her Tuesday Night Music Club folks always makes this a tad rebellious.)

11. My imaginary Corrs Album (all their best)

12. Barenaked Ladies - Stunt (Light up my Room which I was fortunate enough to see live)

13. Tom Petty - Full Moon Fever (was this '89 or '90, if it was '89 then switch this out with Wildflowers)

14. 10,000 Maniacs - MTV Unplugged (Natalie at her best)

15. Jewel - Spirit (slammed by critics and fans I think this is the only Jewel album woth owning and what an album!)

I love that album. I think it's the only one she has that doesn't feel pretty dated when I listen to it. I hardly ever listen to my Miami Sound Machine stuff anymore.

You saw BNL do "Light up my Room" live?!? I am SO jealous! "Light up my Room" is my favorite BNL song as well as one of my favorite songs, period. It's magic. I love their pre-Stunt material dearly but I still have to go back to that song.

Yes it was for Aids research. There is a whole series of this albums, but the one I love is the first, the tribute to Cole Porter (I'm a big fan of Porter, Gershwin, Rodgers & Hart music). George Michael isn't there, but there are a lot of beautiful covers: some of my favourites are Well, Did You Evah with Iggy Pop and Debbie Harry (also the video is hilarious), So in Love performed by K.D Lang, Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye sung by Annie Lennox. It's an album I'm never tired of.

I can't stand Nirvana. :sorry:

I am not that wild about them, though I like the song about the chick who knoks on the door after midnight "ready to go" - other than that, they sounded to me like what they were - a really good garage band. As an aside, I thought their lyrics were really good and some even great.

90's music was just so strange to me because the 70's were soooo heavy and then disco. The 80's went from punk to discoelectronica with heavy metal hair bands in the mix. Then, grunge and boy and girl bands, which I though amateurish in comparison.

But, there was some greatness and here is my take.

Madonna - Bedtime Stories/Erotica/Ray Of Light - all so bold

R.E.M. - Out Of Time - the end of an era for them and it went on a high note

Jewel - Pieces Of You - the poster girl for those minor voiced girls that worshipped La Nicks and I LOVED her yodelling

Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill - HELL HATH NO FURY

The Cranberries - Everybody Else Is Doing It.... & No Need To Argue - so great and odd

Depeche Mode - Violator - his voice anyones me to no end on the slow stuff - but Policy of Truth and others are sooooo good

Fiona Apple - Tidal - angry young girl who was musically brilliant on the piano

Finally -

Annie Lennox - Diva there will never ever be another one like her, they broke the mold - personally, this marked the end of an era for me, my memories of that time are so fond and she is singing in much of the background. To my dear friends then, some of whom are dead, I cry for you when I hear this record and I cry with happiness - I miss them terribly. I can still see us driving or sitting around singing "Keep Young and Beautiful" and laughing about the wave in our hair. Also, my best friend came over one afternoon while visiting town and while I was helping her prepare dinner, she put in this "new" record and "Why" came on. We both stopped and looked at each other slackjawed to the floor and were silent in awe - those were the happiest days of my life, which has been a happy one

Annie Lenox - Medusa - two in a row, what a woman and I will never forget "No More "I Love You's"

I love her so much it hurts sometimes. I still remember when Sweet Dreams came out and I just about died, esp. when she was walking with that bass in the that field. And - do not get me started again on how BEAUTIFUL Here Comes the Rain Again is, esp. the video and the fact that I played Love is a Stranger everyday for like three months on the way to high school. Yeah, I love both albums too. Never could get into Darren Hayes' solo stuff though. Pity.I like about half of the songs on his debut solo album but I just recently bought the newer one, The Tension and the Spark, which I heard was supposed to be really good and I didn't like any of it. Some of the songs on her first solo album really reminded me of Savage Garden but the newer one doesn't seem to be like Savage Garden at all, and I think it's way too electronic or something that I can't put my finger on.

Have you heard the Producer's Cut that Chris had made and distributed through their site a few years back? Some of the cuts on there are better than the album ones, though they aren't as slick and are much more raw. It has a great live version of Zeppelin's "Black Dog," too.
