I've posted in here that one of my other favorite bands is the Stereophonics. I've followed them since their inception in 1996, and it really frustrates me that they dont seem to get the respect they deserve in this country. I know over in the U.K their new album was #1 for awhile, but for some reason they cant seem to get past underground status here. :distress: Kelly Jones is a very passionate songwriter in my opinion, someone who writes songs froim the heart like Stevie. I'm just curious if anyone cares about them or how they feel. Incedentally, they played at a small club here in Minneapolis on May 28, and I went there before the show and met the whole band, they signed my poster and they were all nice enough to have their picture taken with me. I was really blown away by their sincerity in listening to what I had to say and by how genuinely nice they were :)

I discovered the song 'Maybe Tomorrow' around here & sent it to friends, most of whom just shrugged their shoulders. I didn't understand it.
Then I sent them the remake of "Don't Let Me Down" & they loved it. There is some very fine Fender Rhodes work on that, as you may have noticed. Or maybe you didn't.

Maybe Tomorrow is one of my top ten songs of all time. I love the singer's raspy weathered vocals on that song. I found the song on the Charmed Soundtrack! Anyway, I haven't purchased any of their albums because the only reason I really loved that song is because of the raspy vocals. Are the vocals like that on all of their songs? If so, I may have to pick up one of their records.

Sterophonics are one of my favourite bands; their songs are deep and straightforward. They're also pretty great musicians, it's a pleasure to hear them live.

I like them. I remember the the song "Have a Nice Day" off their 2001 album because I had written a song just like it called "Have a Nice Life"...so I thought that was cool.

I'm not so familiar with their albums but I saw some livework in Jools Holland's program a couple of times and in midnightlive on MTV and they friggin rocked the house down. Which album is their rawest? I'd like to check them out.

I'm surprised they were all nice when you met them! I've worked with them a few times, and the band has been extremely nice with the exception of Kelly, who has a stick up his ass. Never bothered me too much- I'd probably be crabby too if I was part of such a kick ass band that was huge everywhere but the country they were touring.
I really like them. I like the new album a lot, it's been growing on me, especially "Dakota."

Dakota is one of those songs that is truly amazing to me. Also, Have A Nice Day and Getaway are top songs of theirs for me

You know, that's a very good point. They give a damn, and not too many bands today can make that claim in my opinion. Like I said in my starter to this thread, Kelly Jones writes from within himself about alot of personal experiences, much like Stevie

It's one of the aspects that intrigues me more, the fact it's a really solid band, capable of great performances live with also such a brilliant songwriter and frontliner. Besides, they don't follow any easy trend, they keep being unique choosing from an album to another, or even in the same cd different roads.

RomyI couldnt have said it better myself. Isnt it nice to have a modern music act that actually cares about making music? :D
