If not, why not?I don't want it.

3- If YOU were in charge, would you have suggested that Lindsey NOT have a guest on the show? What would you have said to him?I don't really care that much, but maybe I would have. I am sick of all these guest spots. Too much of a variety hour atmosphere.
4- What THREE songs would you have added onto the show if you had "all power."That's All for Everyone
A Satisfied Mind
Over the Hill
5- Do you think if this thing sells well Lindsey might get a little braver about doing a. a solo tour; b. a solo album; c. another solo DVD show.a. No; b. No; c. No. It's a moot point really -- nobody but the fanatics will buy such a product.

I haven't, because Lindsey Buckingham isn't that great enough of a reason for me to get a credit card. Must be shocking to Americans, to see someone without a credit card these days. ;)
2- Did you get to attend the recording of the show?
No. I did not wish to fly in for all of that from Finland, I counted on a scumbag bootlegger to record the whole thing. My bad.
3- If YOU were in charge, would you have suggested that Lindsey NOT have a guest on the show? What would you have said to him?
I don't mind a guest at all.
4- What THREE songs would you have added onto the show if you had "all power."
"That's How We Do It In LA"
"Loving Cup"
Something we haven't heard entirely before, like "Is It Right" or that piece they're jamming in the Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac video clip at the beginning, or something else.
5- Do you think if this thing sells well Lindsey might get a little braver about doing a. a solo tour; b. a solo album; c. another solo DVD show.
No to all three.

Nope.
3- If YOU were in charge, would you have suggested that Lindsey NOT have a guest on the show? What would you have said to him?
I would have told him to leave out any guests. No point in having any guests, really.
4- What THREE songs would you have added onto the show if you had "all power."
"September Song"
"Walk A Thin Line"
"Oh Diane"
5- Do you think if this thing sells well Lindsey might get a little braver about doing a. a solo tour; b. a solo album; c. another solo DVD show.
No to all three. This DVD will be the last thing we'll ever get from the man.

No.

I was worried that it wasn't gonna happen, like Carol Ann's book which went on sale but never actually got sold. I'll do it now that it's official.
2- Did you get to attend the recording of the show?
If your answer is YES, name ONE of your personal highlights of being there LIVE. (No cheating, just one!)
Yes - impromptu Frozen Love (right on gldstwmn).
3- If YOU were in charge, would you have suggested that Lindsey NOT have a guest on the show? What would you have said to him?
I'm fine with a guest, as long as she didn't do any of her own songs (which she didn't).
4- What THREE songs would you have added onto the show if you had "all power."
At the time I kept yelling "HOLIDAY ROAD" but since we have some versions of that live, my choices would be:
Crystal
Loving Cup
On the Wrong Side
5- Do you think if this thing sells well Lindsey might get a little braver about doing a. a solo tour; b. a solo album; c. another solo DVD show.
If it sold phenomenally, sure. Otherwise, no.

No money right now. And I quite literally mean NO money... well, negative money actually.
2- Did you get to attend the recording of the show?
No.
3- If YOU were in charge, would you have suggested that Lindsey NOT have a guest on the show? What would you have said to him?
I wouldn't have suggested that he NOT have a guest. I would've suggested that he not have STEVIE as a guest. We've seen them sing together too much already. It should have been "Soundstage: Lindsey Buckingham featuring anybody-but-Stevie-Nicks."
4- What THREE songs would you have added onto the show if you had "all power."
None, really. He did "Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind." The DVD's gotta be worth it for that song alone.
5- Do you think if this thing sells well Lindsey might get a little braver about doing a. a solo tour; b. a solo album; c. another solo DVD show.
A. no, B. no, C. no - As much as I would love to see any and all of these things, I'm not going to hold my breath. If it happens, I'll be thrilled. If it doesn't happen, I won't be disappointed because I won't be expecting it to happen anyway.

This "DVD" you speak of is obviously a bad idea that you had. From this point forward you shall be know as "Otegatron - the man with no fingernails."

One day, Mr. Buckingham will realize that it is not only hapiness and milk that makes him truly happy. When that day comes, he will realize that no one was truly with him that fateful night in September, 2003.
3- If YOU were in charge, would you have suggested that Lindsey NOT have a guest on the show? What would you have said to him?
My charge being granted so suddenly is truly a blessing. I don't even know where to begin my reign of terror, but I assume the J.J. Peppers is the way to go. You will soon find the cosmetics isle in a horizontal position.
4- What THREE songs would you have added onto the show if you had "all power."
I've always had a special place in my heart for "Hit Me Baby One More Time." Throw that in there twice and add in "Smells Like Teen Spirit" in for good measure.
5- Do you think if this thing sells well Lindsey might get a little braver about doing a. a solo tour; b. a solo album; c. another solo DVD show.
Mr. Buckingham knows the importance of rebates. As long as his publicists don't drag him down into this "list price" fad, he should really be in business.

No, I didn't get to attend. I would have loved to, but it couldn't work out with my schedule. It's great to read of some of the fans that got to attend.
3- If YOU were in charge, would you have suggested that Lindsey NOT have a guest on the show? What would you have said to him?
I would definitely have suggest NO GUESTS. I'd say something like, "Lindsey, your fans have been waiting for years- since the OOTC tour, for you to do something this special alone. You just toured with Fleetwood Mac. Why cut out three additional songs YOUR fans want to hear?"
4- What THREE songs would you have added onto the show if you had "all power."
Without A Leg To Stand On

Thanks for your answers. I'm really surprised at how few people ordered the DVD. I guess maybe some folks are waiting to see if it's worth it- but considering the chances of this being available later, I not taking any chances.

Just curious, but how can you prefer just Lindsey alone AND all of Frozen Love?
I mean it makes very little difference to me if Stevie were there that night. She was after all pretty much just a glorified back-up singer. But I think I would have been livid if she weren't there AND then Lindsey performed Frozen Love. That would be like Stevie doing Go Your Own Way at solo show.

I know this is just your opinion, but...
I think that's stretching it quite a bit. Disregarding the resepective songwriting credits (and btw, even though Stevie wrote the lyrics, the writing credits go to both SN and LB) "Go Your Own Way" is a song that was sung by Lindsey. Stevie only provided backing vocals. "Frozen Love," on the other hand, was more of a duet with both Lindsey and Stevie singing the vocal.
Also let's not forget Lindsey's stunning guitar contribution on "Frozen Love." So stunning in fact that to me it nearly eclipses the vocals and lyrics. This contribution alone makes the song just as much Lindsey's as it is Stevie's.

I completely agree. I have to say, though, that it's rather unfortunate. He's well aware that he has huge fans out there and I can't believe that after the success and happiness he personally felt when OOTC came out and he toured for it, he just wants to abandon all of that. It's like he was intentionally teasing us with all of that "I started writing again" bull****.

As far as the solo, from what I heard from a man that works for LB, he is spending the rest of this year working on his new cd, and was planning on doing a solo tour next year. It was supposed to be this fall, but he's not done with the cd yet. That's what I was told, anyhow!!!

I know that I am a minority in my opinion. One of my best friends would even disagree with me on this, but I think about David, who just speaks his mind honestly and I have wanted to say this for a while. I wish The Ledge wasn't as dirty, as you call it, or earthy as it has come to be. I think it really does detract from things at times. Time and place, maybe. I have a sense of humor and a sense of fair play. But too often threads do get hijacked. Too often they disintegrate.
We lost a lot of really good moderators, and I was disappointed to see them go. Barbara and Les, you both more than you can imagine. I had noticed they were all way too quiet for a long time. I don't know why that is. Maybe they were tired to dealing with the complaints and issues that came up. Maybe they had other reasons, things that were more important in their lives. But I wonder if some of it had to do with the degeneration of common civility here. I've read The Ledge and have supported it for many years. Too often the basic FAQs are violated intentionally. It's disappointing, because I see the potential and I know how bright ALL of you are.
You have probably all read the FAQs and by joining this board you implicitly agree to follow them. I would not want to be a moderator and have to continually remind and enforce them. But I want to just remind us all of what they are. I don't want to make you angry. I do want you to think about the purpose of this board.

I've probably ruined the whole point of this thread, to get people to have some communication and talk about the new Lindsey project coming out. I am sorry for that. I am sorry if I offend anyone personally, because all of this is not to single out anyone in particular. It's just to suggest a trend. And I hate to see The Ledge go that way.

1- Have you already ordered the Lindsey Soundstage DVD?
http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?PID=6924191&style=movie&frm=lk_bizrate2
No
If not, why not?
I'm waiting for the actual release.
2- Did you get to attend the recording of the show?
No. :(
3- If YOU were in charge, would you have suggested that Lindsey NOT have a guest on the show? What would you have said to him?
Yes.
"This is supposed to be about you and your music....a solo concert. Don't try to increase sales by adding some so-called "popular" guest to the bill. To hell with sales. Your creativity as an artist on your own should matter more than sales. It did once." :o
4- What THREE songs would you have added onto the show if you had "all power."
Miranda
D.W. Suite
September Song
5- Do you think if this thing sells well Lindsey might get a little braver about doing a. a solo tour; b. a solo album; c. another solo DVD show.
a. yes
b. yes
c. no

As far as the solo, from what I heard from a man that works for LB, he is spending the rest of this year working on his new cd, and was planning on doing a solo tour next year. It was supposed to be this fall, but he's not done with the cd yet. That's what I was told, anyhow!!!
Oh, I hope that this is true! I wonder when we will see the album and when he will tour? The Mac are supposed to tour next year, too. I guess that it is going to be a busy year.

Here's someone who agrees. I too was dismayed when I saw the thread go the way of dirty jokes, but since even a moderator was encouraging people to reply to it as opposed to keeping the thread on track, I guess it's not considered to be against the TOS.

I have to say, people around here are just funny and sooner or later that is going to turn into some sexual humor. I think some of the threads about that are pretty scary - but are so labeled. I think the extraneous stuff that is unrelated to the thread's topic is still pretty funny though and in some cases hysterical. I guess its different strokes for different folks

I wanted to reply in general to the concerns posted on this thread. While I don't feel there was anything that violated the FAQ, my job is to be fair and objective and since Tango and Nancy were obviously upset by the comments made here, I feel like it is warranted that I respond.
Obviously the intent of this message board is to discuss Lindsey and his work. I know people come here for different reasons. Some just want information, some like to hang out and BS with their friends, but we are all here for our love of all things FM related. I would hate to see anyone not post here in Lindseyland because they were offended by something someone posted in jest. Nor would I want to see anyone leave because this board is "uptight". So maybe a little self-censorship is in order and a realization that not everyone shares the same sense of humor.
Tango, thanks for posting your thoughts. I hope when (and unfortunately I feel I have to add IF) Lindsey's Soundstage airs we'll have fun dissecting every nuance of the performance!

I probably shouldn't have called the Lindsey Ledge uptight. My comment wasn't really aimed at Tango or Nancy, I was thinking of other things that have happened to me here and my experience as a whole. There's just a different vibe here, which is OK... not enough to keep me from lurking or occasionally posting.
I still think Mr. Buckingham is a bit uptight.

Finally, a law that upholds the values and principles that are so important in today's society.
You know, there IS (sadly) a great reason to have that rule.
Hey, look, guys! A poll about Lindsey! YAY! YAY! YAY!
1- Have you already ordered the Lindsey Soundstage DVD?
http://www.cduniverse.com/productin...frm=lk_bizrate2
If not, why not?
I haven't, mainly because I've been out of the loop and actually had no idea they were releasing it AS a dvd.
2- Did you get to attend the recording of the show?
If your answer is YES, name ONE of your personal highlights of being there LIVE. (No cheating, just one!)
YES! I was there. I'm going with everyone else and saying "Frozen Love." I had yelled it along with someone else at the exact same time. It was ten seconds of fantastic. Although I did love hearing "Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind" and "Red Rover" live for the first time. Wait, that was cheating.
3- If YOU were in charge, would you have suggested that Lindsey NOT have a guest on the show? What would you have said to him?
Yes. I'm over the guest star thing. I mean, it was nice, but boring. I wanted to see Lindsey, and if Stevie was going to be there, I wanted something truly fantastic or off the wall. Not same old same old.
4- What THREE songs would you have added onto the show if you had "all power."
I would've liked to hear I'll Tell You Now, Walk a Thin Line, and Countdown.
5- Do you think if this thing sells well Lindsey might get a little braver about doing a. a solo tour; b. a solo album; c. another solo DVD show.
It's not going to sell well, so it's a moot point. I think this'll probably be the only DVD we'll ever get out of him, but a solo tour and solo album may be in the cards... I think stuff just happens to keep him from doing that stuff. Like, in 1996, he and Mick were actually booking shows across the country (Park West in Chicago) to do a solo tour together for the album he was working on, and they scrapped it to work on the Dance.

I thought Tango and Nancy were objecting to the sexual humor and it being off topic and distracting. So, I addressed that.
But, to your point, my comment was on point in this thread and it was a humorous way of saying LB is metaphorically constipated with his work. In other words, it is difficult for him to release the final product and was a response to the prior comments about LB having no sense of urgency about releasing his work.

We lost a lot of really good moderators, and I was disappointed to see them go. Barbara and Les, you both more than you can imagine. I had noticed they were all way too quiet for a long time. I don't know why that is.
Thanks for the kind mention, Tango. The reasons for such a big turnover of moderators were varied. Some moderators of the least active forums had sort of already phased out, possibly from having nothing much to do.
In my case, it just felt like it was time to step down after five years of mostly lurking, problem solving and dealing with bad guys. It just wasn't fun anymore, so Les and I did a Butch and Sundance and went off the cliff together!

Thanks to both of your for all of your many contributions over the years. I know that the moderators had many responsibilities that the members here wouldn't know about and weren't obvious from reading the forums. There was also a lot of work put into updating and transfering the old Discography, SHN and BLA, and a lot of that work was done by some of the moderators.

I'm afraid too many Ledgies don't take advantage of the mother lode of information to be found in The Penguin. I know Les and Johnny Stew both are regular contributors to SHN and BLA.
When I first became aware of The Penguin around the time of The Dance in '98, I lurked for a couple of months reading the articles in the Blue Letter and messages on The Ledge before ever getting up the nerve to post. The Ledge population was much smaller then and we tackled weighty issues like Lindsey's hammock, how he smelled, who he was looking at on The Dance video, was it Kristen?, stuff like that. . .
I'm always stunned when I read a post by someone who doesn't know something very basic about Lindsey since it's so easy to find.
An amazing amount of work and love has gone into making The Penguin the best Fleetwood Mac web site on the net, and I think The Ledge is the best message board, hands down. Marty should be very proud.
I'm looking forward to being able to post more frequently, now that I don't have to behave. ;)

You would find the Penguin and then spend the next week reading every bit of information on every page until you thought you were going to go blind....and then you'd move on to every other FM related site and devour those!

It seems there is some confusion amongst a few of you. You believe I am referring to Lindsey’s lyrics and affronted by the discussion of their sexuality. Since I have never objected to this before, I have to wonder why you would think I would do so now. In fact, we have had threads about such things on this forum in which I have participated.
So I’ll tell you something you should already know, but perhaps forgot in the fervor of counter-argument. I agree with the fact that it is impossible and even silly to try and avoid such discussions. I agree that it makes perfect sense to discuss whether or not “rock cock” would be censored. I even agree that it’s fun to quote sexy lyrics. Therefore, any statements about how ridiculous such a stance is really have no bearing on what Tango, Cour, and I are talking about.
But I’m always happy to help. Here you go, guys. For your edification, I will reconstruct the deterioration of the thread into dirty jokes. I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have afterwards.

I'd love to have a Q&A here on The Penguin with Lindsey and be able to ask him these things directly. Maybe one day. (If we could get him out of the hole!)

1- Have you already ordered the Lindsey Soundstage DVD?
Nope.
If not, why not?
I'm probably going to buy it when it hits the stores. I prefer going to a locally owned record shop.
2- Did you get to attend the recording of the show?
Nope.
3- If YOU were in charge, would you have suggested that Lindsey NOT have a guest on the show? What would you have said to him?
Not really. While he has a HUGE ego, he also seems a bit insecure to me. As to what I'd have said to him, I'd suggest that he and Stevie cover "Four Strong Winds." And, I'd ask him why in the #$%* he's only released THREE albums (either Mac or solo) in 20 years. Then, I'd rip him a new one for being so negative about all of the other Mac guitarists.
4- What THREE songs would you have added onto the show if you had "all power."
Four Strong Winds
For Lovin' Me
Oh Well, pt. 2
5- Do you think if this thing sells well Lindsey might get a little braver about doing a. a solo tour; b. a solo album; c. another solo DVD show.
Well, this thing probably WON'T sell well. How well has LIB done? And, that had the advantage of being released under the Fleetwood Mac moniker, which has more weight to it.
a. No. I don't think he wants to be an opening act.
b. No. At the rate his been going, his next solo album will be releast posthumously.
c. No. I think he now realizes that if it wasn't going to sell well as part of Fleetwood Mac, he has no hope in the world of making it as a solo artist these days.

I was asked to moderate and I gladly accepted. Having over 9000 posts on this board, I am not an unknown commodity. I do not think that I would have been selected if anyone had any doubts about my integrity.
This is starting to feel like a personal attack Nancy, which is clearly in violation of the FAQ's.
So I will ask that this stop right here. If you have any concerns about the way in which I conduct myself, please direct them to the appropriate parties and in private.
Carry on. :)
Woah, there, girl. Did I say I doubted your integrity? Did I single you out as a lone offender? And are you seriously telling me that my mild criticism borders on being a violation of the TOS? Please enlighten me. What part of these posts is the horrifyingly vitrolic attack upon your person that is almost strike-worthy? Or is that fact that my criticism included you? An unsettling precendent if that is the case.
After all, I've been on the Ledge 4 years and posted over 2500 times, but I've never once been threatened by a mod. I didn't suddenly have a personality transplant. I've been posting this way for ages. But perhaps they were just slacking, eh?
I must admit I didn't expect this kind of reply from you. I actually thought my previous post would diffuse the situation, and I get slapped with this? I'm truly shocked. Wow. What are you going to do when people REALLY get nasty if you overreact to the little stuff like this?
Good luck moderating.

[QUOTE=strandinthewind]I thought Tango and Nancy were objecting to the sexual humor and it being off topic and distracting. So, I addressed that.
[QUOTE]
Assumes facts not in evidence? Please re-read MY post. I was addressing a global Ledge issue. I never made mention of Lindsey's lyrics. I never mentioned anything specific.
"I know that I am a minority in my opinion. Too often they disintegrate."
Thank you to those that responded to my poll. Again, I am sorry. It's all my fault.

Please don't apologize. Just because you dared to be critical doesn't mean it's your fault if someone else reacts to it in a way that's less than ideal. And hopefully the Ledge has not become a place where criticism is only acceptable if it's directed at the unpopular or disempowered.

1- Have you already ordered the Lindsey Soundstage DVD?
No, I have not.
If not, why not?
Ordering it now is not going to make ii get here any faster.
2- Did you get to attend the recording of the show?
YES
If your answer is YES, name ONE of your personal highlights of being there LIVE. (No cheating, just one!)
Well, I really can't think of any highlights to be honest. It was just a thrill to be there.I did not feel very well that night :(
3- If YOU were in charge, would you have suggested that Lindsey NOT have a guest on the show? What would you have said to him?
I don't see a problem with his guest. They did not take up too much of his time.
4- What THREE songs would you have added onto the show if you had "all power."
Loving Cup
Lola
Wear You Down
5- Do you think if this thing sells well Lindsey might get a little braver about doing a. a solo tour; b. a solo album; c. another solo DVD show.
I really doubt that it will sell well. PBS runs these shows at the oddest times so I doubt many people will get to see it in the first place.
Hopefully Lindsey will release a solo album and do a tour anyway!

ALLLLLLLLLLL those folks who wanted to play Lindsey's guitar on the SYW tour should have to buy his album and go see his tour. Yeah, we're all about Lindsey when he's letting us play his guitar and paying attention to US, but when it comes time to support him, eff it.
I'm just in a foul mood today. Yesterday was horrible and I'm just bleh today. Sorry.

I have not. Sheesh...I have until October.

No.

A guest is fine but if I said no to a guest it would be because he does not need one.

Holiday Road, Wrong, Oh Diane

He is brave. Lindsey is a Libra. Very lazy sign and Libras always procrastinate. Ugh.

if it is, I'd suggest that Lindsey only plays newwrittensongs, record it, extract them from the new set and bring it out as a Fleetwood Mac-Live-album.

The Chiffonies and the Buckheads are two different animals. It's pretty much fact. This Ledge is quiet a lot because Lindsey is usually hermitized (I just made up a new word. ). It's not an uptight factor, it's just LB fans are just different personalities, I think.
You're right, and from different countries too ;)

Fleetwood Mac is touring next year??????? I didn't know that . Well, I don't understand how LB can do his solo tour and tour with the Mac in the same year???? I hope LB doesn't put off his solo tour to go with the Mac, not that the Mac tour is a bad thing, I just was very anxious to see LB on his own !!!

Hopefully, he will squeeze in a few solo dates before The Mac tour. Seriously, I think that if I hear Rhiannon or Dreams one more time I will just lose it! I kind of wish that he would scrap a Mac tour for a more extensive solo tour.
Just remember to play Providence. OK Lindsey?

Ditto that! The Jaarbeurshallen in Utrecht maybe, or for a lot more atmosphere (but less room), the Paradiso in Amsterdam. Or Oosterpoort :D (Groningen).
