You know, people warned me that it wouldnt be fun coming into the ledge because alot of the people were such jerks and so opinionated, but I've found that not to be the case. Sometimes it's hard because there are some cliques , but it's nothing I cant handle. All of the people I've met have been very friendly, and for that I say thank you. I just wish Id've signed up on the SYW tour, it sucked not havin people to hang out with at any of the shows I went to.

Hey thanks for that!! Yes there are opinionated people on here - yes there are people who have known each other longer - or know each other better than others - but all in all I think the Ledge is a mighty fun place to get some great Mac news and have interesting discussions.

Well hell - I've been here going on five years and yeah - sometimes your posts catch attention - sometimes not - it's like that for everyone - but the Ledgies I've met in person are great and I still hope to meet some more in the future...this really is a cool place

It can be very intimidating jumping on board here, definitely. Not by design though -- I believe it's simply due to the fact that so many of us have been here and have known each other for years.
I've found the best approach when I join a new message board, is to just jump into various conversations and chit-chat with people. You're not going to get too many responses at first (and sometimes none), but eventually people will get to know you and you'll soon be "one of the gang."

Another thing about message boards, is the turnover. Lots of times one so-called "clique" will be dominant for a while, and then slowly but surely, members of that group move on. Eventually a new group of people will be the main chatters.
I think we're on our fourth or fifth group here.

David, I'm so glad that you feel comfortable. I can see how this board would be off-putting for many at first. I really wasn't sure what to do when I first joined. It was all too much and I didn't know how to find a place. But now I really think everyone has one. :)

Glad to know you're feeling somewhat comfortable. We have about the same amount of posts, although mine have been over a longer period of time... so you're doing pretty good. I guess I haven't felt as comfortable. My posts mostly go un-noticed unless I say something that people don't like, then I really hear about it! Story of my life LOL!!! Oh well. I appreciate having somewhere to go to share my thoughts anyway. Nobody in my "real life" will listen, they're tired of hearing about Stevie and FM.

Nobody in my "real life" will listen, they're tired of hearing about Stevie and FM. Oh man, don't I know it! The people in my "real life" who are actually somewhat familiar with Fleetwood Mac get so tired of me talking about the band. They can't believe how many inconsequential things related to the band that I care about. This is a place where those things hold much more significance!

You know, what makes it easier for me is that it's usually very easy for me to get along with people. I'm actually a little shy, you wouldnt know it by how many times I've posted, but I just try to put what's in that thick head of mine out onto the page. All of what I say comes from the heart. AS you know who says "Isn't that weird?" :D

You knoiw this really hits home with me, the no one will listen part. So many of my friends give me s**t for my passion for Fleetwood Mac, but I've adopted a very simple rule when it comes to that. Fleetwood Mac and Stevie make me happy, and I will follow them with whatever passion I so choose, and if that botheres people, thats their problem, not mine :) For example, when I went on my two week Stevie road trip recently, could I afford it? HELL NO!! but I wanted to do it, so I came up with a way (Credit card) I may be in debt up to my eyes, but it made me happy, and thats all that matters

I too was warned before I came here. Though my warning came from a member of another (though non-FM) message board. I on the other hand, have found that in many (but not all or even most) instances it certainly is the case. (And I am probably just as guilty of being an opinionated jerk as anyone else here.)

I still don't get this whole notion of cliques on the board, though - unless you count those who adhere exclusively or almost exclusively to one particular forum. I've only had issues with individual Ledgies rather than groups or cliques of them.

However, all that being said, I don't think that disagreements and even outright arguments and fighting are totally bad things. The boards would be rather dull indeed if all anybody did was talk about how great someone or something is. Brown-nosing is boring and – to say the least – not exactly beneficial for one's hygiene. ;)

I'm just glad we all have this outlet... otherwise youd have a bunch of postal Stevie fans out there, and that wouldnt be good. Although maybe we could just like take over Bulgaria and re-colonize it as Stevieland. thing is, who'd be president........??

You ? Shy ?

Get outta here.I can't tell if you're being serious or joking. It's the blonde hair, or so I continue to blame it on that. Anyway, if you're not joking--yes, I am very shy and insecure in "real life." I have very few good friends. I'm friendly but don't say much unless I know someone really well. I usually let other people do the talking and I usually go on the assumption that no one wants to listen to me talk, anyway. Also, I tend to be very reserved and quiet at times because I'm also under the assumption that people won't like me when they find out I'm gay, as that has been the case on many occasions. The Ledge is a remarkable thing for me. I feel like I can be who I want to be on here rather than the awkward person I am in "real life" because of the homosexuality issue and all. I'm getting better and better about being who I want to be in "real life," though. One day I might even get the point where I can be generally outgoing and just not give a damn if someone doesn't like me for who I am, but I'm not there yet.

I know, I know--that answer was way too long.

BTW, is that Mariska Hargitay in your avatar ? If not, who is it ? She is HOT.Oh, Sparky, you're going to be so sorry you asked. That's Celine Dion. It's one of my favorite photos of her. Usually I don't like her look post dying her hair blonde (I prefer her natural look, also before she became a stick) but I just love that particular picture in spite of all of that.

Well, dear Hillary...you come across as outgoing, funny, sincere, and completely adorable. What I hope for is that soon you find a group of people and a community that will not even think your sexuality is an issue. They will not blink and consider themselves lucky to know someone as cool as you :wavey:
Considering how many of us here in the ledge don't give a damn if someone doesn't like us, maybe some of it will rub off on you. :xoxo:

I've noticed it in my daily life in some cases. Sometimes I feel more equipped to be who I want to be and who I feel comfortable being because of my interactions with y'all. Also, I tend to bicker with my parents and friends a lot more. Can anyone imagine why?

Well, I've been gone for a while from this board and decided to check it out again last week or so. A lot has changed, a lot of people that are new to me and some "oldies". I don't think it's hard to fit in here, you just go with the flow and ignore the stupid comments :D

I pop in and out of this place on occasion, and I have to say that it's probably one of the nicest groups of people I've seen around in message boards online. I mean sure there's going to be the "popular" group of people who all know each other, but you're going to find that in any message board you go to. Personally I find it a pleasure to come here and see that a group of people could be as close as they are. ;)
