Just thought this might be an interesting discussion ...
Are there any Mac songs [including solo stuff] that you cry at when you listen to them? Or at least, did at some stage or another?
I cried at Desert Angel the second or third time I heard it, which was April this year. Just the whole Gulf War thing, and the love she gave out to the soldiers really came out through the song.
Also, I think I cried at Beauty and the Beast -- on the album version and ALMOST at the Live at Red Rocks version [only the end, though, the last line].
And I think I nearly cried at Beautiful Child on Live in Boston. It was extraordinary.
I think they're the only three.
Anyone else? :wavey:

Though I've heard it a million times since 1977, if I'm at a concert when Stevie sings "Landslide" I have to fight back the tears. I feel like such a wuss, but looking around at the crowd, I can see that it has a similar impact on many others.
I wish she will come up with another song that has such universal impact. It's one of those certain songs that --- even if you have no clue who Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks are --- has a timeless appeal.

The first time I heard "Dreaming The Dream" (live in concert, prior to the release of "Time") got me feeling a little teary-eyed. Which is unusual for me.

First 20x's I listened to the studio version of "I'm So Afraid"
"Why"
And, the first time I heard AND SAW Peter Green play. (I was in tears through most of the Splinter Group's set...and grinning from ear-to-ear simultaneously)

Why....Songbird....Say Goodbye....those songs always get to me.
When I saw saw the five of them onstage at the first Dance show I went to, I cried like an idiot. I never thought I'd see that day.

Oh, my goodness... Songbird. Christine at a piano alone... I've cried everytime I've seen her do it live.
Beautiful Child on the SYW tour. Got me everytime. The fact that it's a beautiful song, but also the fact that I never ever thought I'd hear it live.
Say Goodbye. No explanation necessary.

At concerts, I've teared up during "Landslide," "Beautiful Child," "Say Goodbye," "Goodbye Baby," and "Beauty & the Beast."
I've been known to get misty-eyed listening to "Storms," "Songbird," and "Why" as well.

Same again. In a F*cking TENT near the belgian coast one of the first splintergroup gigs outside of england....
AND I was in tears about 75 % of the SYW-show in OKC july 1st 2003. My first Buck-Nicks experience after 26 years of longing.
But when i think of it I shed most of the tears in my life listening to FM.....:
....listening to Tusk (whole album), GOS, the first time I saw the Dance, and EVERYTIME I hear Bleed to love her and Silver Springs of that album....
Don't Stop during puberty when I was heartbroken again between 78 and 82, I needed to play that to put myself together again. After that " Can't go Back" took over....
amazingly much more moments too, like hearing Sorcerer sung live in 74. I guess I am a sentimental idiot.
Still connecting ChiliD?

I'm always crying to some mac or stevie song. Heck, the other day I think I got teary listening to Down on Rodeo.
BC got me each time at my SYW shows, right when Linds comes in.
I almost always cry if I listen to Goodbye Baby. Almost always for Storms. Sometimes I cry just cause something sounds so beautiful to me, a la Insider Live. Sometimes I cry cause something kicks so much ass, I can't believe it exists, a la Edge and SB. Heart of Stone, that one really gets me. Never Make Me Cry.
Basically, I could MacCry at any moment. I'm tearing up now reading other people's choices....

Over and Over, Brown Eyes live
Stevie's:
Love Is
It's Only Love
Bella Donna (in the demos especially)
Touched By Angel
Space Needle
Beauty And The Beast live
Hotel California, Circle Dance (on Two Voices Tour)
... and many more.

I wept like a psycho at the Dallas SYW show on June 16, 2004 when Lindsey played Red Rover. I mean weeping, people. LOL It was the first time I'd seen him do it live and I knew it would hit me, but it hit me like a Mack truck. After it was over, my mom looked at me like "Good Lord, are you okay?"
I cry at various live versions of ISA, especially if something bad is going on, or if I have PMS or something. LOL
I have teared up at Landslide too...I adore that song, especially the Dance version.

I don't even like Sara that much, But her singing it, and watching that footage of her smiling....well, I broke down like a little girl. It was so beautiful.

I'm new to the boards, and figure this is as good a time as any to see if I can post!
Landslide, Beautiful Child, Beauty and the Beast . . .I have cried every time I've seen her sing them, and often just listening in my truck. Occasionally, Crystal has had the same effect. And, when I heard her sing Circle Dance, I was definately tearing up! lol

Awww... I'm so glad to see this song here. I think it's the first time I've seen anyone mention it. I love and adore this song. The harmonies are beautiful. I love that it was a Lindsey song, and a fine one at that, and Stevie came in and wrapped her voice around it like a glove and made it what it is on SYW. I listen to it over and over and over...

So, basically if a song title starts with the letter "s", that's a pretty good bet you'll be in tears before its over? :D

I cried the first time I heard "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You". It was during the Tango tour, and I had not yet heard all of Rock A Little, only the singles. And I was so touched by the line "...if it's all I ever do, this is your song" and "you know I'd rather be alone than be without you".
I also cried the first time I heard the Melborne 1980 verion of Sara. The way she just wails at the end.
And there's another recording of Sara, I want to say Cleveland from that same year. There's a bunch of bum notes and Stevie misses a few cues and goes off-key a little here and there, but the ending is really beautiful and she's so impassioned. I was on my way to a memorial of a friend who had died very suddenly, it was quite tragic, and that came on my CD player. During the vocal ad lib at the end she goes "...it never really died, never really died (and her voice totally begins to soar) ooooh it was such a heartbeat". I just lost it. I had to drive around the block a few times because I couldn't walk into the memorial with these tears streaming down my face.

Well there are alot of them, but for me, #1 is probably Gold Dust Woman, for this reason. It was the first song of Fleetwood Mac's I had ever heard at the age of 6 while riding in the car with my mother in the summer of 1977. I can still remember to this day at how without ever having heard them before, my attention was drawn to the radio. I asked my mom who is this, and she told me: Fleetwood Mac. And the rest, as they say, is history......

Oh. Also, Say Goodbye, but only on Live in Boston.
The album version was way too fast, the lyrics and emotion were completely lost because you hadn't a clue what the hell he's saying.
But the Live in Boston version was extraordinary. The fact that you could hear the words, and that he was singing it right across the stage to Stevie, and her just standing there staring at him, hands innocent behind her back, singing it right back ... it was amazing.

I got a little teary hearing my favorite song (Beautiful Child) live for the first time at the SYW dress rehearsal... I never saw that coming. Circle Dance on this tour was pretty poignant too.

Storms,Songbird and Oh Daddy. These are the three that make me cry the most, but there are so so many Mac songs that can make me cry depending on how they are relating to my life at that moment.

Oh, God, almost anything can make me cry. With the exception of anything that can make me dance around like a lunatic, probably. My Little Demon springs to mind... And Don't Stop.
Let me see...
Landslide. Especially on The Dance, when they hug at the end, and Live In Boston.
Goodbye Baby.
Songbird. But not all the time.
Beautiful Child, but I haven't heard it often enough to know exactly how much it upsets me.
Oh Daddy, only sometimes.
Say Goodbye.
Destiny Rules.
Then, Stevie solo, Love Is. And sometimes Planets of the Universe.
And Lindsey solo, Street of Dreams.
And probably anything else that made anyone at all else cry.
