What are your favorite sounds - other than music or specific voices of musical artists?
Some of mine:
The wind through trees - when it sounds like a raging waterfall
waterfalls
rain
When my dog "talks to me" lol
when my dog is happy to see me and gets all "grunty"

Some of mine:
The springler going back and forth on a hot summer day-
The tick-tock of the clock that my Father left me (It's an old wall clock that has a key to wind it up-neat tick tock rythym)-
The breeze through my windchimes, lower notes and especially relaxing-
Waves crashing on the sand from an ocean storm-
The sounds / cries of the Loon's at night, on the lake-
Sleet falling against my bedroom window-
Wood logs crackling in the fireplace, and the roar of the fire too-
My dog's tail wagging in the morning when we get up- (Every morning same thing- He hears us stirring and starts waggiong his tail and it hits the bureau, so it's always thump, thump, thump to wake us up.-
My husband's laugh-
Just a few of mine...

Great ones!!!
I, too, like the ocean sound on rocks and sleet on my window...and there is something so comforting about wind chimes to me - they remind me of being at my grandma's when I was little.
Here are some I'll add:
The squeeky wheel sound effect they use on Scooby Doo
Marimba played well

My Father-in-law had to have two valves replaced in his heart, and they are the mechanical type. If it is very quiet in the room and you are sitting next to him, you can her a click-clack sound....It's cool... and it reminds us that we can thank medical technology, that we still have him around :xoxo:

That is the most random thing, EVER!! Zoiks! LMAO!! Awesome.
I love being outside when it's snowing, it's so peaceful and quiet. We don't get snow very often, but when it does, it's so calming to be out in it.
After Candy (my dog) passed away, we went to Garden Ridge and I bought some wind chimes. Everytime I hear them, I think of her speaking to me. I love the sound they make. :)
A sound I hate...a phone ringing...gah...HATE!!

If you have not heard it, listen to Mozart's "Concerto in A Major for Clarinet and Orchestra" -- it is one of the most beautiful things ever written -- and the french horn is soooo subtle in it. Let's hope not for his sake...othewise, his possible children and other family members may never be able to show their faces in a 50 mile radius of Vegas. I heard he was a Celine back up dancer. I saw her a couple of times back when Spyboy was still together and those shows were stunning. She did a version of "Love Hurts" at one of the shows that had me bawling like a baby. Then I saw her after Red Dirt Girl came out and "Bang the Drum Slowly" had the same effect on me. Those opening lines are heartbreaking in the context of the song. "I meant to ask you how to fix that car/I always meant to ask you about the war."
Can't wait for her new album, some of the things posted on her site about the sessions make it sound as if it's going to be even more left-field than her last few albums.

I found a lovely chicken, blood, and urine toile a few months back. It was priceless.
How VIVID.
I cannot think of the name of it now, but, to paraphrase, I like toile and chinoisoire on furniture and metal. But, it has to be really well done or it looks like too much sugar for a dime.

Emmylou Harris' voice. I feel home when I hear her sing. Quite possibly the most beautiful voice I've ever heard.
Ah my favourite "new" sound (alright, I know, I'm waaaaayyyy behind the times with my musical education). If only I could pick an album to buy first and stop downloading random songs.

Well, we would have to see it. Ordinarily, I like wooden beds and four posters at that - though Diss. would not like that. But, brass is okay if done right, it is just not my thing.
I don't do four poster beds. Yuck. I have a nice sleigh bed made of wood and metal that a friend made for me cheaply a few years ago. The wood is stained black and the metal is a dull, beat up silver. Had it in storage for ages and just started using it about two months ago. Very lovely. My bedroom is black and white with very few colors, so it goes nicely in there.

What. The. ****.

Toile can be horrid if overdone. It is also considered horrid when it is on a paper border in a house, though that application is very very popular. I am not a real big fan of any design on a wall. I like paintings on a clean color and I love darker colors in earth tones on those walls.
In the end, it is all about what makes you happy.

Red Dirt Girl is her masterpiece, imo, and one of the greatest albums ever recorded. Wrecking Ball, Red Dirt Girl, and Stumble Into Grace are all good ones to get if you like her experimental, alternative work, but if you want her earlier and bluegrass stuff, I recommend getting Anthology. :)

At 6'4" -- a sleigh bed really does not work for me. And - you are all about the monochromatic with color used sparingly to accent, which is very Andree Putnam. I used to do that look - but now have moved on. I am a fan of larger furniture because I am large and thus, do not care for Sheridan, Hepplewhite, etc. - though I appreciate the craftsmanship.
I grew up with a lot of Mallard and Seignouret period stuff, which was sort of Fench colonial - it really is too small for me though.

BUT have you heard her version of Love Hurts with Gram Parsons?
One of the best ever duets/harmonies ever IMO!

You could always get a custom-made one like I did if you like them enough. I'm over six feet and wanted it to be big, but I also have a very large bedroom and can fit it in there easily. All I know is that I'll go to the Mattress Barn and pick out something before I put a four poster in my apartment.
As for Putnam, I don't think I can forgive her for Pershing Hall. Gawd, how I hated that one. Lovely bathrooms, but I really loathed the rest.

I am not a fan of pedastel sinks - I find them completely non-functional. However, some put a ledge above them to put things on, which I think she did there.
As for the Beaux Arts style - and other French influence - I grew up in that. So, I like it a lot.
