I got email from Tori today. (Yes, I KNOW she typed and sent it herself - don't burst my bubble, bitches! :D ) She's the latest artist who will record and release "official bootlegs" of her shows.

http://www.toribootlegs.com/

It looks like there will be 6 sets altogether, with the first 2 due next month. Each one of her shows has a unique setlist, and even if she does repeat a song, you can be sure there will be something *noticeably* different about it.

Just a heads-up for you Tori collectors and even casual fans, or for those of you who wanted to see her on tour this year, but couldn't. The CDs are cheap - you can pre-order and get 2 bootlegged shows for less that the price of an actual ticket to one concert.

Excited! :blob2:

but that is good to know she is jumpin' on the "Official Bootleg" bandwagon....Hopefully other artists will now join the likes of Pearl Jam, Dream Theater (Not only are some of the older standout DT live preformances released officially, So are some studio rarities such as their complete version of the Metallica classic "Master Of Puppets"), Peter Gabriel, Kiss & Mark Knopfler in releasing "official bootlegs" to their fans.

Do you mean from the Shopbootlegs.com site? I noticed the redirect, but didn't click up to the main level until you mentioned that.

They have a good selection of musicians on there - I'm surprised. I had heard about the Pearl Jam official boots & a few others, but didn't realize this trend was really catching on...

of the official Pearl Jam bootlegs, They are some of the best live recordings I have heard...Not some lame and dry board recordings without any audience noise, But they are instead professionally mixed recordings that sound just like an "official" live album that most artists release.

I could see Stevie releasing one or two shows from a tour, opening/closing night or one random show and then a special AHI show. I just can't see an extended set of discs when her setlist barely changes over the tour, or when only die-hard fans would really notice a difference in the songs from night to night.

Besides, you're right - there are only, what, 2 official live recordings that she's released on her own? Edge of Seventeen and HAEWAFY? That's it, right? Well, plus At Last and the Divas thing, but those don't really count.

Wow - that just made me very very sad.

Cool. Didn't they release every show from a certain tour a few years back? I remember seeing rows and rows of them in brown paper covers in a music store... Have they kept up with the practice? (My apologies - I don't even know if they're still touring. :o )

Pearl Jam released each show from the 2001 & 2003 World Tours as "official bootlegs". They have already stated they will once again sell "official bootlegs" on their next world jaunt.

I find it funny that for the amount that 2 Fleetwood Mac high priced tickets from the SYW tour cost I could've bought ALL of Pearl Jam's 2003 US tour shows on "official" cd's through their official website.

Some good seats are coming up right now for her 8/21 show in Boston. Sixth row on the left, which she has her back to apparently, and 18th row center. I think I'm going to wait and try to get closer. She rocks.

I've never felt so connected to an artist. Whoever is doing her PR, fan communications, websites, promotions, is doing a damn good job! Not to mention all the stuff on iTunes, AOL sessions, live TV appearances...

If we were discussing "official" Mac bootlegs, I fear we'd just now be hearing about shows from the Tango tour. Or earlier. And the website wouldn't be up until the demand for them had come and gone. :distress:

And lullabies? Do you sing your children to sleep with "Hoochie Woman"? (I know what ya mean, tho... )

Yup. Two years later & I still can't believe 2 SYW tickets were $250 - for the very back of the lower level of the arena (which was less than 2/3 full).

I like Prince's idea of giving away the new CD with admission. For those who've already bought it, they can give it to a friend, or sell it at a used-CD place. AND, I'd add a voucher for a CD or DVD of the concert you just heard -- you'd just have to log onto some website, pay the shipping & enjoy.

Yeah, I know - good idea, but...

No, she for sure emailed me first. She said in it "you are totally the first person getting this email, 'cause I think you're awesome!" I TOTALLY agree with you on the "keeping the fans in the loop" thing. I get more emails from Tori Amos' people than any other artist I've encountered. They are ON it!

I'm missing a chance to see her in Montreal in two weeks 'cause I'm going there the week before. Just works out that way. I'm seeing Garbage here when she's playing there. NO COMPARISON, I know. But whatevs. I REALLY want to see her again though. She's way up there for me as far as live shows I've seen go.

Her new stuff is so soft though, you know! I know lyrically, she still has stuff to say, but her delivery just leaves me wanting to fall asleep. I actually tune her out about three songs into an album and then when it's over I realize I just missed an entire album, which I never do with music. I'm always very aware of what I'm hearing. Her last two have been really disappointing. I think it started with To Venus and Back (the studio part). There are some great songs on there but about half of it bores me. I want her to come back to her former glory! WHA!

Thank you! :o Ok, I posted a review on my LJ, which is normally "friends only," (I just don't want to make my LJ public because I don't want it to affect my job, etc.), but I'll make my Tori review entries public so people reading this thread can read them, .

The reviews are the top two entries--read the second entry down first if you wanna go in order:

http://www.livejournal.com/users/lalittlecricket/

Hope you enjoy! By the way, I never got an e-mail from Tori. :distress: How does one get on that mailing list? Wait--is it by sending your info through toriamos.com (by clicking on the mailing list link)? I just noticed that and sent in my e-mail. I'm a little late with these things, .

P.S. Tommer, I can see where you're coming from because at first I really didn't care for Scarlet's Walk and The Beekeeper--at least not compared to her earlier stuff. But they are both really growing on me! I think she still has good music left in her. Or should I say, songs are still "chasing" her. ;)

scarlet's walk is still pretty decent if you judge it by the songwriting, it's the production that's lame and uninteresting, not to mention tori herself, who became too mellow and boring. the beekeeper on the other hand is bad in every way. if she keeps on making albums like the beekeeper and strange little girls i'm done with her, i fear that slowly but surely she's becoming a feminine version of Sting.

By the way, I forgot to mention this: part of the reason Tori made Strange Little Girls was because she was trying to escape her record label (she owed them three more CD's) and she didn't want to give them any more of her original songs. She chose to do a 2-CD set, one of the CD's being live material (this became To Venus and Back), and a CD of covers. It's amazing what artists will do to "get free." Reminds me of Prince pulling the symbol and "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince" stuff. Anyway, her explanation of Strange Little Girls is in her book.

On the other hand, that doesn't explain The Beekeeper. Although I don't think I loathe it like you do.

The show was really great Saturday night. We got to the box office early and ended up with 4th row center seats. :D

She began the Piano Bar segment by saying that the songs she'd be perfoming were out before most people in the audience were born, but that her brother had loved them and he used to play her the records all the time. Then she started playing "Dreams." I cried. It was such a beautiful cover. And then she played "The Long and Winding Road." Fingers crossed that a bootleg surfaces.

Here's the setlist, if anyone cares:

Original Sinsuality
Little Amsterdam
Leather
Amber Waves
Goodbye Pisces
China
Playboy Mommy
Dreams
The Long And Winding Road
Cars And Guitars
Northern Lad
Crucify
A Sorta Fairytale
The Beekeeper
Gold Dust
Tear In Your Hand
Toast
Baker Baker

Her parents were in the audience a few rows behind us. :)

Oh, Mikki - I forgot this was the show you were going to! "Jealous" doesn't even begin to describe my feelings...

I first read about the show yesterday, and I've been scouring the Net for hints of a recording. If I hear about or find one, I'll post info here. (And PLEASE do the same... :xoxo: )

And what an awesome setlist - altho I read the show was kinda weepy, since it was basically a tribute to her brother. But I love that she doesn't hold back in the sense that if she *needs* to play a subdued or somewhat sad show, she will - and just trust that the audience will go along with her.

And don't feel bad - I've gotten to hear "Landslide" twice at her shows. And both times: Boo-Hoo City. The funny thing is, I've never cried when Stevie sings it. The best time was the second time I heard it - it was in Austin, and when she started playing it people were obviously confused and trying to figure out which song it was. Then, I started to hear "Stevie Nicks" whispered around me, and then her name moved through the crowd like electricity. It was like people were conjuring her spirit as Tori was playing.

But I love that she doesn't hold back in the sense that if she *needs* to play a subdued or somewhat sad show, she will - and just trust that the audience will go along with her. Yeah, the show was very subdued. She only spoke to us twice, I believe. Before Dreams, and before Little Amsterdam, when she mentioned the heat, and that her mom had told her that she was born not too far from there. She said that was probably why she liked it hot. :)
