I love Fall From Grace!!!! I think it is one of Stevie's best songs, because of the great harmony, fast-paced beat, and i just find the words so catchy!! It is one of the very few songs that describes the highlights of Stevie's music career. Whenever i'm upset, or sad, or just had a bad day, i always end up listening to Fall From Grace to pick me back up when i'm down. It is such a high-energy, upbeat song, and i love it!!!! :]

This song rocks hard. I have to admit, I did not love it at first on the CD - thought it was OK, but nothing too spectacular. But when I saw her do it at the Blockbuster Awards 4/01 w/ Sheryl - holy crap! It's incredible live & I think Stevie really enjoys doing it.
I love most all of the lyrics, but especially:
"High priestess, she's the keeper of the peace in this"
and
"And now alone in my room
As it all begins again
Was I so wrong
Why am I always so intense "
I love love love FFG! I love her piss and vinegar songs directed at Lindsey, particularely this one!

I LOVE IT!!! This song kicks ass! Like Paula, I admit I initially didn't pay a lot of attention to it but once I heard it live it became one of my favorites and probably my favorite on the album. I just love the intensity of the song, both in the lyrics and how Stevie sings and performs it. I'm really glad she decided to keep this song in the setlist this year.

I didn't like it at all when I first heard it. The more I listened, the better it got. Now it's the first thing I play in my car while going to work. It's a good energy booster the prepare yourself for a 12 hour shift @ the hospital!
I've loved everything about this song from the first time I heard it! It's my second favorite on TISL (after the title track) and definately one of my all time top 10.

Does anyone else think that parts of this song are directed at Christine? I know Stevie's said it's about Mac, and fame in general. But two things stand out to me:
"well I came all the way here just to watch you walk out that door" Reference to The Dance tour? Just when they got going, Chris wanted to stop. Also:
"It's not enough that you say you love me" - were those exact words put in for a reason? Or is it just coincidence?
Much of the rest of the song is, IMO, directed at LB and/or Mick or the band in general. But nobody ever mentions Stevie ever writing about Chris - ever. Just a thought.

I think about this EVERY time I listen to this song. I didn't refrence it to the dance tour specifically but I always think Christine when I hear "say you love me". Now that Stevie has said with Jim Ladd that it is pretty much about lindsey, throwing christine into the mix would make sense as well I think.

I loved this song from the first time I heard it which was the Blockbuster Awards with Sheryl (even though I dont' like her the performance moved me). When I heard it on the album I went crazy and it's different from any other song on the album. I don't understand why this song was not released as a single. It could have been a hit if you ask me. Even the kids who like rock would have loved it. It's definitely a favorite and probably the most rocking song Stevie has written in the past 15 years. I also love the production and the lyrics. What a huge treat it was to see this in Vegas. It's one of those songs I could listen to over and over and never get tired of. Favorite line:
Wake up with a stranger
It's not something you plan
One night in a world of pain
And you finally understand
I love it when she talks dirty! :p

I think CM is in this song because I think this song is more than just about LB - it is about FM and the events leading up to them not extending The Dance tour, which I think was CM's decision (which I think La Nicks was fine with) and the realization that she and LB, for a variety of reasons, could not take their realtionship higher than it was. I do think, however, the walk out the door line is about LB.

I love, love, love this song and I have since the moment I first heard it. My favorite lines are these:
Maybe the reason I say these things
Is to bring you back alive
Maybe I fought this long and this hard
Just to make sure you survive

I didn't like it all that much at first, particularly the music. It had a generic rock-sound to me. It's grown on me, but it's not in my top 20.

I like the lyrics (straightforward, for Stevie, and aggressive) more than I like the music. Someone said "generic rock" and I have to agree...

:xoxo: I'm right there with your obsession. It's probably one of her best vocal performances of the last 20 years. I'm glad it's a fan favorite.

I disagree...it may be generic rock in some people's eyes (not mine) but it's not generic Stevie which is one of the reasons it's such a great song.

I have never liked this song and I guess I'm in the minority! Something inside me cringes at the "not all the king's horses" line. I know that most people love it to death so I keep trying to sit through it to appreciate it but I just can't, no matter how many times I play it.

When I first got the CD, I fell to my knees and thanked something when I finally got to this song. The lyrics kick (literally) and so does the vocal. Seriously, I was like "finally, a song that rock rocks!"

A saving grace in the latter half of TISL, especially after those mid-tempo tracks. Not among my biggest favourites, but still a powerful performance.

I love this song. It is a big favorite of mine. Live is just kicks major ass.
I do not think any of the song is about Christine but of course the Mac, in general, is in there. The lines "the applause from it all was so defining, it bounces off the wall at you, when the miracle was happening" obviously refers to the Dance tour. She pretty much admitted on Jim Ladd the song was about Lindsey, didn't she? Sorry but I just cannot even begin to imagine a scenario when Stevie would say to Christine
"It's not enough that you depend on me, it's not enough that you say you love me, its not enough...to just save face". Christine depends on Stevie? I am not feeling it. Me thinks the "say you love me" line is just coincidentally the name to an old Christine song. If I remember correctly Stevie was specifically talking about the "walking out the door line" on Jim Ladd when she mentioned the song being about LB. So, I think it is safe to bet that it was Lindsey, not Christine, who was walking out that door. The "I came all the way here, just to watch..." lines I think refers to her emotions. Emotionally she came this far. Yes, physically she had gone through the tour and towards the end something happened and he had to "go home". However, I feel like Stevie is referring more to how far she had come emotionally. I have peeled away so many layers, I have opened myself up...come this far..and now, bam, you (LB) fell from grace again.
Paula mentioned above that no one ever talks about Stevie writing about Christine. In my opinion, it doesn't seem like she does. And if she has, we have not heard the demo. Perhaps there are lines here and there that refer to Chris or situations with Chris but Stevie has never mentioned any of her recent songs being inspired by Christine. I doubt Chris writes about Stevie either.
Oh, Jason, you mentioned you think Stevie was fine with Christine's decision not to continue with the Dance tour. While I think Stevie respected her choice, I do think she was extremely disappointed and perhaps even a little angry that Chris limited the length. I also think there is some type of tension to this very day. I know many people disagree with me on this point but that is just my feeling. I hear it when Linds and Stevie talk about Chris. Stevie admitted she had not even talked to Christine for several years before they met up in London during SYW. I mean, to me, that smacks of some type of discord. Honestly though, I do not think the length of the Dance tour had, or has, anything to do with any tension that might still remain between the three of them. (Buck, Chris, and Stevie)

^ Kelly, I know what you mean & I do remember Stevie telling Ladd that it's about LB. I just think a few lines may be referring to Chris & her decision to stop the tour. I don't think the song itself is "about" or "for" Chris, however.

Plus, Kelly is always willing to accept it 100% vwhen Stevie says something is about LB and not the 900 other times Stevie says something different
Having said that, I do think FFG is mostly about LB.
