View Full Version : Why?

1. Why did Christine wear Stevie's clothes & boots during the Tusk Tour?

2. Why didn't Christine sing more of her Tusk songs over the years?

3. Why didn't Christine switch to the Hohner Pianet T after the Combo went out of production?

4. Why did Christine show up to a Bob Welch concert in September 1978 wearing a B.B. King jersey?

5. Why did Christine crimp her hair at the end of the Rumours tour, while Stevie crimped her hair at the beginning of the tour?

6. Why did Christine buy the house of a guy who is widely considered one of the sappiest, worst composers of modern times (Anthony Newley)?

1. Why did Christine wear Stevie's clothes & boots during the Tusk Tour?

She wanted to know how it felt to look like a fool night after night.

2. Why didn't Christine sing more of her Tusk songs over the years?

Flick Meetwood.

3. Why didn't Christine switch to the Hohner Pianet T after the Combo went out of production?

You tell me.

4. Why did Christine show up to a Bob Welch concert in September 1978 wearing a B.B. King jersey?

Because she has good taste.

5. Why did Christine crimp her hair at the end of the Rumours tour, while Stevie crimped her hair at the beginning of the tour?

Steflea was hogging the crimper.

6. Why did Christine buy the house of a guy who is widely considered one of the sappiest, worst composers of modern times (Anthony Newley)?

3. Why didn't Christine switch to the Hohner Pianet T after the Combo went out of production?

You tell me.[sigh] Very well . . . .

The T was built with a different sound-generating mechanism from that of the earlier models. It sounded much more vibraphone-like -- like a Rhodes -- & this sound was simply not suitable to Fleetwood Mac's live shows.

Agree? Disagree? I'm merely hypothesizing.

Oh goodie a quiz.

1. Why did Christine wear Stevie's clothes & boots during the Tusk Tour?

Didn't Margi Kent make Christine's clothes as well as Stevie's for the Rumours and Tusk tours? And anyway, Chris looked very "1978", very hip and happening to me back then, it was THE look I imagine. That and punk, but I can't imagine Chris in tartan and safety pins.

2. Why didn't Christine sing more of her Tusk songs over the years?

Because who wants to hear Never Make Me Cry when we can hear Don't Stop for the 19th billion time?

Over & Over and Brown Eyes sounded magnificent live though.

3. Why didn't Christine switch to the Hohner Pianet T after the Combo went out of production?

Because the CP-30 reminded her of her favourite movie of that time, Star Wars.
I think it would have been even cooler though if Chris had broken out a vintage theramin on stage. Never Make Me Cry on theramin. Nice.

4. Why did Christine show up to a Bob Welch concert in September 1978 wearing a B.B. King jersey?

To show she was still a blues girl at heart of course.
Either that or she had just stayed round Dennis Wilson's house and that's the only suitable clothes he had.

5. Why did Christine crimp her hair at the end of the Rumours tour, while Stevie crimped her hair at the beginning of the tour?

Obviously they had a deal going: Stevie had the crimpers for the start of the tour and Christine had them for end of the tour. Oh and didn't Stevie get a perm? Girlfriend don't need no curlers no more!

6. Why did Christine buy the house of a guy who is widely considered one of the sappiest, worst composers of modern times (Anthony Newley)?

Did you know that Anthony Newley was a major influence on David Bowie. That's pretty cool don't you think? I don't think he's one of the worst composers of all time, I mean the Willy Wonka songs are classics.
Plus maybe it was a damn nice house. Maybe Joan Collins decorated it, who knows?

Welcome back, Lis. :) I just got a little something in the mail that might be of interest to you. ;) I'll send you an e-mail shortly.

By the way, I thought that softball thing was around Mirage time. Looking at Lindsey's hair, that picture looks to be obviously from 1978. I really can't picture Chris (or Stevie, for that matter) playing softball.

BTW I always estimate time frames by LB's hair as well LOL.

I can't see any of them except John being athletic, to be honest. okay, Stevie can twirl a tambourine, but beyond that...i dunno. ;) Lindsey is far too delicate  .....although he did swim.....!

Hi,
I am pretty sure that photo is from one of the Tusk era photo shoots.

BTW...I like Christine in a skirt, much more than in her slacks and jacket. Even better is Chris in the mini...she's got the bod to work that skirt. I think the shawl thing she wore during some of the Tusk shows was a lace table cloth with a hole cut in the center...lol. Actually I think she was the first one in the band to wear a shawl...I think Stevie borrowed the idea and turned it into her signature outfit...Ms. Nicks didn't originate all of the fashion trends in this band. Once again Chris being underrated and not given enough credit.

Welcome to the board! :wavey:

I agree, btw. Let's think of the time frame here, kids: shawls, platform boots, peasant skirts & blouses, etc. Classic 70's. It's not like Stevie patented the look. If Chris ever walked out on stage wearing a black leotard with a black handkerchief-hemmed skirt & high black boots, then I might wonder. And if either of them had walked out in a polyester pantsuit, I might vomit. :p
