Well it's been in the 90s and way humid here - until Tuesday -the humidity broke -and it was lovely.
Today it's 80-something and humid - but it doesn't feel as hot.
I'm glad I'm not in New Mexico though - where it's hotter than Satan's Crotch!

107 yesterday with 30% humidity, Should be even warmer today with even more humidity (Thus far it is 38%).
My sister lives not far from Death Valley, And she would take their arid climate over the typical Oklahoma summer climate anyday of the week...Hell, I'll take desert climate over humidity anyday of the week.
Just think, August is yet to come which is when the temps run 100+ everyday...Making this the second warmest area in the continental US just behind Death Valley

It has been in the low 100's here in LA. Pretty miserable driving around, but great at home. I just don't want to leave the pool.

Yesterday, I swear, was the hottest I've ever seen it here. It was 97 and our humidity stays around 70/80%. So, it was miserable yesterday. We had a hellacious storm last night, and right now it's only 83 with 64% humidity. Not a bad day at all! It's going to be bad again Sunday and Monday around here.

No, if there is air conditioning and pending how humid it is, it's fine. I'd prefer a dry heat over humidity anyday I think.
Speaking of heat -- I left work an hour and a half early (my final day is August 13th so basically, i'm leaving early if I want to  ) and when I walked outside, there were dead worms on the sidewalk. I have no idea where they came from but they were fried to a crisp. Stupid me wanted to go into the city tonight. Let's hope I don't end up like a dead worm on the sidewalk because usually the city is at least 5 degrees warmer than the burbs.

I've lived in Las Vegas my whole life and have gotten to really hate hot weather. I used to stay for months at a time in England with my Grandma and I loved it. I'm one of those odd people that likes the rain though.

My skin doesn't handle dryness well, so I don't mind humidity.

I LIVE for the heat. I love it. Love the sun. Love the humidity. This has been the best summer in a long time - it's been sunny and frickin HOT as blazes here since at leats mid-June. Maybe earlier. Crazy hot - like upper 90s to over 100 F (though for us, it's actually in the mid to upper 30s C, with the occasional low 40s). I even go running in it.
Contrarily, I hate and detest the cold. If I never had to go out in winter, I'd be a happy camper (even though I hate camping. :D See other thread). My favourite thing about my house when I bought it (truly a major selling point) was the private access garage with an automatic opener. I think my core body temp is a degree or two colder than average, which is why I am hypersensitive to cold, and not affected by heat. My dream is to live in the desert.

I live for the heat, too, but July is always rainy here, and in August when it clears up I'm back to work & busy. :(
I'm not temped by the desert (I need trees!), but more power to you. :wavey:

elderly and homeless...
it's sort of sad- i worked downtown for 3 years and there were lots of homeless people... and you would see the same ones every day... but every year in july, you'd stop seeing them... and you'd never see them again... then a few months later you'd see a whole bunch of new ones... and you'd see them every day until the next july... then THEY'D disappear... and so on...
i'd like to think they got jobs and went somewhere else

Surprisingly, I see less homeless here than I saw when I lived in colder climates, but that might be because I'm not downtown all that much.
But I'm guessing that Vegas attracts homeless from all over, and that there are relief agencies with that in mind.
