I'm glad not to be the one typing that for once. (Though it's only because you got here first. ;) )

Do you ever listen to the Sunday Puzzle on NPR? The host (can't remember her name) and Will Shortz have talked about Sudoku a few times recently.

I don't do math for fun. Okay, it's not math, but there are numbers in it. And you have to think about them. I just can't envision this ever being fun for me. :) But I've never been a puzzle person.
Glad you like it, though.

Sudoku? Is that like a new sex technique? Or some kind of food? Maybe its a kung fu type thing I'm not aware of. Oooh, you know, I bet its some kind of undergarment. Am I at all close here?

I'm with you  I see numbers and my head begin to throb. I hate math - and even though this apparently has nothing to do with math - I am still a bit apprehensive.

OK, Pip. They just started putting it in The Buffalo News & I finally tried it last night. :distress: Couldn't figure the damn thing out & it was only a 2* difficulty out of 5. They also has the previous day's answers & I saw a bit of a pattern on that one, but I could not for the life of me complete the new one.

Now that I feel like a complete moron, I don't think I'll be trying again anytime soon.

No, I really AM a moron - I looked at the answers to the one that I tried & I can't make heads or tails of it. :( Dolt.

So my stupid ass tries another one - this time a 3* difficulty - yeah, it didn't work out. :o

Isn't each one supposed to have some sort of pattern or something?

No... I don't think they are supposed to make a pattern. You just have to make sure that each horizontal and vertical line has the numbers 1 - 9 and then that each of the 9 smaller squares has those numbers too

I downloaded the game when you posted about it, Pip, and I like it a lot- but it's much easier on the computer because it tells you when you're wrong :)

I was fascinated last night at work- I have a second job at a bookstore- and we've got like three Sudoku books on display, including a "Sodoku for Dummies"!

Yes... it is easier on the computer. I started off by having it set so it told you when you are wrong. Now I don't have any help at all. I still get stumped with the really difficult ones at times though and end up guessing (usually I'm wrong! lol). I've been working my way through a book of 200!

They are addicted to it at work. It comes inside the newspaper and what they do is photocopy and enlarge it. Now they got me doing it. I only tried the 'kids' one so far but I also have an adult puzzle that I have not tried yet.
We all getting hooked.

It's the devil diguised as numbers on a grid in the newspaper. Pure evil, I tell you.
