Since Livia pointed out that this seems to the "Ledgies Touching Stevie" tour, I thought it would be fun for everyone to recount their Edge stage rush experiences. This would include hand shaking as well encouters with the Birds of Rhiannon.

Somehow I was fortunate enough to rush the stage both in Houston and in Dallas. Houston was magical because it was the first time I had ever gotten so close to her. I was mesmerized by her, and after shaking her hand, I made a point to touch her Frakenbocks. I could feel their power!!! And in a word, the birds are GLORIOUS. The second night, in Dallas, I remember much more vividly. She grasped both of my hands with her hands and just smiled down at me as gibberish poured out of my mouth like "Stevie, you're so gorgeous!", etc. She was truly angelic and one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen, and her hands are silky smooth like satin. *sigh* I'll never be able to hear another Stevie song without remembering her gentle smile radiating down on me.

AWESOME! :blob1:

My hands touching hands are as follows:

-SYW LIB. After Goodbye Baby, I got a hand grasp. I had to climb on top of a speaker so she could reach me.

-SYW Cleveland: Bless those little girls for standing beside me. I got a high five that night.

-Edge of 17/Pittsburgh/Don&Stevie: Ry and I were the last two on the left of the stage. It was a magical experience. That's the night of my "I love Street Angel" mumble and Paula's infamous LEGWARMERS comment. :) A BLAST!

-Edge of 17/Cleveland/Stevie: The stage was so low I got her groin area in my face. :o I touched her from the back of her neck, down her arm, to her hand. That was also an awesome night with Lori and Amy. :woohoo:

Chicago: She was grabbing someone elses hand and since she wasn't going to grab mine I just kinda touched hers. Cheap. I practically got butt raped at that show from so many people behind me pushing.

Grand Rapids: I was front row (Thanks to Miss G. and the dude sitting next to me!!) and she grabbed my one hand but never looked at me. I was too speechless to really try and even get her attention.

Milwaukee: I was standing behind someone and she grabbed her hands and said something to her. I was spazzing so much I was like "STEEEEVEEE" and she looked at me and smiled but never grabbed my hands. My brain didn't react fast enough and neither did my mouth for me to say "I love you!" or something like that. I can just imagine the look on my face when I was saying her name. Ahhh, it's even embarrassing to think about.

I always have to wonder what it's like to be her in that situation. Put yourself in her place - all those grinning faces staring at you, outstretched arms waving - probably kind of a blur to her.... must be a little surreal.... and possibly scary at times, too

I had the lillies in my right hand and I held up my left hand and said "Thank you, Stevie!" (Thank her for what exactly...doing the Edge walk, for her cool music, for the great show...yeah, all that. :) ). She grabbed my left hand (her hands were tiny and so soft!) and I kept going "Stevie! Stevie!" so she would take the flowers. She took them and looked right into my eyes, smiled and said "Thank you!" So, I got hand holding and verbal acknowledgment...awesome.

first night in atlantic city, she held both of my hands for a decent amount of time, but very little eye contact.

Second night, she held both hands with excellent eye contact; so I mouthed thank you so much, you are awesome. And she mouthed back "you are too"

IT WAS SOOOO GREAT!!

Assuming I get to shake her hand Saturday night, anybody have any suggestions of what to say other than "I love you" or "Thank you" (both of which I've said before). I have a few I've thought of but I'd like to hear what other people would say if they had the time to think about it. It must be something very short but poignant!

Best I've come is House of Blues, Millennium show, she smiled and waved as I tried to jump over this humongous guy to grab her hand.

Then SYW tour, she took a stuffed bear from me, but didn't touch my hand. Or even smile, but that's the SYW tour for you.

I'm determined this go around. I'd like to think of something clever to say to her, but I'm sure I'll just yell "I love you" like everyone else. :]

I've been trying to think about that, too, in case pigs fly and I ever manage to touch her hand. I haven't really come up with anything, yet. Maybe I'll just smile real big and say:

Yeah, you're probably right. I don't think I'd be comfortable with it if I were her; I'm amazed she can do it night after night and keep smiling so sweetly and look into so many people's eyes, etc.

That said, I did get to hold her hand in Grand Rapids (I'm the Miss G. Jessica was talking about, :wavey: ), and she was looking at me and I said, "Thank you so much, Stevie" and she gave my hand a tug before letting go and moving on. :o

She also talked to me once from further away, while she was onstage! It was back in July of 2003 at one of the SYW shows. I had just had Lindsey sign my black & white Fritz picture, and I guess he was surprised that someone had a Fritz photo because we could see him talking to Stevie about it on the side of the stage between songs. Later in the set, Stevie was looking in my direction so I held up the (then autographed) picture for her to see. She looked at it, pointed, and mouthed the words, "long time ago." I just nodded and then melted into a puddle because OMFG she talked to me!!!  :o The people around me at the concert got an absolute kick out of that,

Enchanted: (I was only 7) My mom was holding me the entire time Stevie did the walk and she finally came to me, crouched grabbed both of my hands and said hello. All I said was hi because I was so struck. But she was with me for at least a minute.

TISL: I was standing on the security gaurds chair for this one and when she came to me she did not crouch so 3/6 seconds I was holding her I was staring at the birds, they were so giggly. But then she grabbed both of my hands and said "Hi baby"

No Say You Will touches from Stevie but lots from Lindsey.

Two Voices: When she came to me I felt her white dress by accident then she grabbed both of my hands and smiled and stared right into my eyes.

Oh my hell. I feel old now.

As for my short story, it was TISL Vegas...she had cancelled, and I was very distraught after driving 8 hours. So she rescheduled not one, but two shows, which made me happy.

I had eighth row for one show and I was determined to get the front of the stage. As soon as Edge started I rushed the stage and ended up getting smashed right up against the dumb security guard. He was pushing us back and we were all yellin' that Stevie was going to come over to touch our hands. It was a mess. But anyway, we were all getting scrunched to death, and Waddy kept looking over with concern. Finally, she came and I had my hand stretched up as far as possible....I didn't think she would take it, but she did and I put my other hand over hers and, of course, I said, "I Love You" or something and she smiled and walked on.

One thing...she has the smallest hands ever!!! And when she smiled she had crinkles around her eyes. Very cool.

You're GUSHING!!! I'm so glad you got there...but after seeing where you were sitting I knew you'd have no problem! Remember me? Remember all the stuff I had....well, she TOOK it with her left hand, grabbed my right in hers and said 'thank you"....and the gibberish also flew from my mouth...thanks, I love you, blah, blah, blah...I was sitting in the center of the aisle, but had forewarned all those sitting closer to the aisle to "move or be run down". I didn't get up to see all of the rest of "us". Shy. Nervous...whatever. ;)

In Cleveland this past time, I got to the very front and put both of my hands out and she took them both in hers and I yelled out "I LOVE YOU!" No response, but a warm smile. Afterward, I couldn't remember if she shook both of my hands or not - my husband had to tell me. As for the softness of her hands, I cannot even remember what they felt like. It's like my mind become a giant blank.

In Virginia, I had a drawing and bear for her, along with my camera in my hand. She took the bear and drawing, but didn't say anything, and then I offered her my hand with the camera in it. She looked at me like, "Am I supposed to take this?" and then I quickly brought out my free hand and she took it. Once again, I have no memory of the softness of her hands.

But how is it people get her to talk to them? She never even responded when I yelled out that I loved her, but oh well, she can't say something to everyone. I had kind of hoped she'd at least glance at my drawing - it took a long time to finish it.

I always have to wonder what it's like to be her in that situation. Put yourself in her place - all those grinning faces staring at you, outstretched arms waving - probably kind of a blur to her.... must be a little surreal.... and possibly scary at times, too This is something I've wondered about too. On the Red Rocks DVD, those people are GROPING her! I can shake her hand, but I'm not about to feel up her leg or butt or back or anything! Just not my style. :sorry: If it were me in her shoes, I'd run for my darn life!!

PS...If I looked as cute and small as my avatar character, maybe I'd get invited backstage. :D

Vegas May 13, 2005: She was face to face with me and our faces nearly touched like we were doing Eskimo kisses or something! Her smile was so bright and so genuine and I couldn't believe it... she grabbed my hand with both of her hands and sqeezed them. Her hands were so soft and mosturized I couldn't believe it! Then I screamed "I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you!!!!" And she laughed and said "I know!!!"

Tampa July 13, 2005: I reached both of my arms out towards her and she grabbed both of them and squeezed them tight! It was amazing and I remember this much clearer because I wasn't in shock as much. I mouthed "I love you" to her and she smiled and squeezed my hands again. I didn't want to let go, but I had to! Then, she leaned over me to shake hands with another fan and her chest was right in my face... WOW!!!! And then I touched her reeboks and and her leg warmers. I had to say I had touched the infamous frakenboots!

I've been very, very lucky - I've had three hand-shaking encounters, including eye contact and exchange of thank yous, and one exchange of funny words from the stage. But I've droned on about them soooo many times that I'll spare you all!! But suffice to say, I will never forget a single moment.

In 2004 she stopped just before her mike & I got just a wink rather than a handshake. :distress:

As I recently recounted, last Saturday I got both hands, though I was worried she would not make it to my end because of the wire running across the stage to the back-up mikes. She grabbed my hands, I said something & my eyes went birdwatching, & she kind of rolled her eyes with an Oh brother, could you be more obvious? look and turned her attention to my friend, who had the class to look at her eyes, and Stevie held her hands for awhile. In my defense, Stevie was leaning very far forward when she took my hands, & her fine skylarks were pecking through their cages. Just thought they might need some wood to perch on. (Skip the twig comments - You folks are so predictable. :) )

Brian (Liquidblue5000) and I bolt up from 5th row, 7 seats in for the aisle, to the front in Pittsburgh 6-11-05. We are thinking we will have to fight the crowd - we are instead the first ones there  . When the Edge guitar riff starts, we calmly walk to the stage & stake out our spot. I take a pic, security yells at me for the 4th time. I ask Brian to block me so I can take video when she gets to me. He does a great job.

I can't really see her during Edge, there's a monitor blocking my view. I am at Jana & Sharon's feet. I start the camera when she starts the walk. She comes toward us, grabs Bri's hand. I am reaching for her, terrified she will pass over me. She moves over a bit, grabs my right hand with her left. It feels like she holds it forever (I've timed it on the vid - she holds my hand for about 4 full seconds, while grabbing 4 or 5 other people's hands with her other hand. You may think I'm greedy, but I like to think I provided her with some support so she could lean over better.) I squeal "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" like an ass. I "Bird watch" for a second.

She lets go & moves along. Her right foot is in front of my face. I put my hand on it, groping the frankenbok and the legwarmer. She maoves away, it's all over. I now squeal "Woohoo, I touched the legwarmer," capturing that immortal phrase on my camera.

So neither of us got the chair - so there I was short again - and I was worried that I wouldn't get a hand touch -then this large butch woman picked me up and propped me up until I was able to grab hold of a speaker

I am still floating on air from the fabulous show Sunday night. The Dallas show was amazing. I never thought I would be able to get so close as too touch her hand but right before the Edge rush I said screw it and went down. I worked my way to her and planted my but right in front of her mike stand. When she got to me she held my hand and I said thank you. It wasn't like the moment in OKC in 2003 where I got to tell her I love her and she said she loved me. I thanked her for her music and that I know that she has sacrificed so much for her fans. These two memories are precious too me! I LOVE THIS WOMEN! You can tell she is happiest when interacting with her fans and performing on stage.

Mansfield 2004~ I think this was the first night that Stevie started shaking hands on the SYW tour. Security was terrible and wouldn't let us up to the stage at the beginning of the concert. I'm not sure when we were able to start leaning on the stage, but it had to have been before Landslide b/c someone passed me a sign that said Happy Birthday Stevie on it and security yelled at me twice for holding it up. The only reason she started shaking hands was b/c there was a priest sitting on the other side of the front row. At the end of the concert, she went over to him and talked to him for a min or two. That was when Lindsey signed the back of my ticket. :D So Stevie started to walk off the stage and I held my hands out. She came right over to me, ignoring the people to my left, and took my hands in hers. I think I said something like, "Glad you're back" b/c this was after they had just canceled a show two nights before. She just smiled at me and squeezed my hands. Then took more hands down the line to my right.

Tampa 2005~ Alex was hogging Stevie's attention, so instead of holding her hand, I touched her sleeve.

Ft. Lauderdale the next night~ I was being squished against the stage and Stevie held my hands and looked into my eyes and said, "You take care" and squeezed my hands. I told her that I would and then she was gone.

Okay, I'm going to my first Stevie solo concert this Sunday. I'm in the 5th row, about 7 seats in. Do any of you experienced hand-holders have any advice for me? At what point do I go up to the stage, where is the best place to stand, what should I watch out for??? Thanks!!!

ps--this is all just a total run of luck for me. I'm going to California on business, have never been there before, and found out that Stevie is playing 15 minutes away from my hotel on the night I arrive, so I ordered a ticket. She's not even coming out to the Midwest, where I live. How lucky can I get?!?!?!

I've been trying to think about that, too, in case pigs fly and I ever manage to touch her hand. I haven't really come up with anything, yet. Maybe I'll just smile real big and say:
SISTER HONEY!

You absolutely MUST say this!

Not to rain on the bird parade but I wonder if she's got some nasty scarring going on under there?

I shook her hand at each of the Atlanta shows on the TISL. The first time, we had seats in the front row, right in front of her, so I was right there for the walk. A very good friend of mine who is not a SN fanatic said she would be right behind me. Good thing! There was this drunken, shirtless fool who could only cry (real tears) and scream "STEEEEEEEEEEEVIEEEEEEE" at the top of his lungs into my ear. My friend, a big boned gal that she is, elbowed her way between he and I and probably saved my hearing in that ear. As she came by, I took her hand and said "God bless you! Thank you!" to which she closed her eyes and gave me an appreciative nod. Then she was off. Meanwhile, Mr. Drunken Obnoxious Crybaby, who did get to her hand also over the shoulder of my friend, was crying all the harder and now holding up some necklace with a cross on it. He seemed to get more upset as she moved away, and decided to wing the necklace at her. Being drunken and not able to see real well with tears in his eyes, launched the necklace which promptly flew across the stage in an unintended direction, landing between some of the drums. Seeing this, he dissolved into a puddle of tears and vanished, probably down a drain. A squonk!

The second time was on her return visit. We were in good seats, just not in front of her. Since I already touched her, I asked my firends if they would like the honor. They are not SN fanatics either, but said yes. So I told them the game plan, and they agreed with some trepidation on their face. So, EO17 starts, I yell "RUN!!!" and we are up there. Mr. DOCB was thankfully not there, and everyone in the crowd was singing and having a great time. Here she comes! I direct them to "PUSH!!!" and they get right up there. I got her hand again and said "You rock! Thank you!". She smiled at me and moved on. When it was all said and done, my friends thanked me profusely for helping them up there. They had never been to a concert where that happened and thought it was so cool that she actually does that.
