View Full Version : Rock & Roll Hall of Fame....Stevie in as a solo artist this year?

Is Stevie eligible to be in Rock Hall in 2006? 25 years is the rule right? Bella Donna was 1981...so she should be a shew in right? Or if you consider Buckingham Nicks...1973...she was eligible a few years ago. What can we do to assure her induction? She deserves it...and unlike many artists...I think she would be so honored....Can you imagine her induction speech? Or the all star jam with Paul Shaeffer's Band? Wow...what a night that will be!!!

Another question...would her induction as a solo artist create even more tension and friction within Fleetwood Mac? Mostly with LB?

she deserves it... but i have a hard time believing the R&R Hall Of Fame will recognize her work outside of FM.... they should, but only time will tell... we shall see..

Someone has to pay the couple thousand dollar fee if I'm not mistaken. Who will it be?

It's my understanding that record companies also lobby for certain artists. SHe absolutely should be inducted my hope is that she will be soon. I don't think it would cause any big huge conflict with LB he is a big boy and I think he knows the score. Of the two I think Stevie would be so honored and thrilled were I get the feeling it wouldnt be that big of a deal to him if he were inducted.

My only concern is she hasn't had a hit in a long time, not counting the planets of the universe mix. The last big one was Rooms on Fire right?

You know, if she played her cards right she could still have a hit. Like Cher with Believe.

You are so right. I would love to be there that night. I'm sure she will get in , but them again they wouldnt let in Lynard Skynard and they did let in some fool, i forgot who though. We will start a petition if not!

Here's my question....WHEN she get's in, what Rock And Roller do think should induct her at the ceremony? Ms Crow already did for the Mac's induction so I would cancel her out.

Tom Petty would seem like the natural choice...

Lindsey. ;)

I was just waiting for someone to say his name. It was inevitable.

As much as Stevie's music has touched a lot of people, including myself, I doubt she'll be inducted into the RRHOF. She was inducted with FM and I don't think they'll look at her work as a solo artist. A lot of really deserving artists never get inducted. A while back, I posted a question in the Rumours forum about this subject. If it hadn't been for Rumours, FM would have never been inducted, even though they had hits with WA, Tusk, Mirage, etc. Without Rumours, they wouldn't have been enough. I really hope I'm wrong about Stevie being inducted and I will be THRILLED if she ever is, but I doubt it.

I think either Petty or Lindsey would be good. I do not think LB would be jealous at all, I think he has finally come to terms with things and actually would be quite proud of her. Or how about Dylan? Anyone but Sheryl Crow or the damn Dixie Chick. Ugh. Oh ****, NOT Don Henley either. No please.
I seriously hope she gets in next year because it would mean something to her. She considers it such a big honor where alot of artists really could care less.
Yes, record labels do have some power to push for certain artists. Uh, so hopefully Iovine could help her too cause things with WB are sketchy.

Having a recent hit single is definitely not a criterion for induction. I mean, when was the last time the Beatles had a hit single??

I think Stevie will be inducted some day.

And on that day, yea, there will go up such a whoop of celebration from among Stevie's throng of admirers that the heavens will shake & resound with a mighty roar.

I want Tom Petty to induct her.

I agree - Tom would be the perfect person to induct her as a solo artist.

And can you imagine the party around here? We'd have to choose a few central locations and hold induction parties! :woohoo: Like Curtis, I'm not sure it'll happen this year (I'm hoping!), but I do think it will happen at some point...

me and brian talked about this last night... i think it'll happen. at least it could happen. when BD came out, she was just HUGE and that album kept selling. wasn't it #1 girl album two years in a row? someone will look it up ;)

anyways, she has remained active and especially coming off of the success she/FM has recently enjoyed i totally think it could happen.

and petty would be a great choice. only in my dreams would LB be the one (and it is a very sweet dream)...

If they won't give her a Grammy for her solo work they're sure not gonna let her into the RRHOF as a solo artist. I just found out "Lil Kim" has a Grammy. LIL KIM and NOT Stevie! WTF is that about?? Oh yeah, cuz 30 years from now we'll all be talking about Lil Kim and her great contribution to songwriting and all the lives she touched and changed :distress: . I have truly come to believe that Stevie will never get the recognition she deserves until she is dead, and then everyone who ever passed her in a hallway will be gushing about how great and talented she was and how they always thought that from the beginning. Don't even get me started cuz I could rant about this crap forever! :sorry:

Oh... can you imagine... a retrospective of her career in song?

First with Lindsey, then John Stewart. I'm sure she'd have Mick up there for part of it. Tom Petty... Don Henley... Sheryl Crow (I'm not saying I'd like it all)... more Lindsey... more Lindsey... and a good dose of her solo. I couldn't even begin to compose a set list.

Can you just frickin imagine?

That? Is a show I'd consider dropping $1000 to see.

Her and Tom would do "Stop Draggin..." then she would do "Stand Back" with LB on guitar and Mick on drums, close with a 10 min. version of "Edge of 17" with Sheryl Crow on backup vocals along with Christine McVie would surpirse Stevie by walking out on stage during the set....top that.

The all star jam is usually everyone else who was inducted right?
She should perform in no particular order:

Stop Draggin' My Heart Around with Petty
Edge Of Seventeen
Stand Back
If Anyone Falls
HAEWAFY
Rooms On Fire
Rose Garden
Sleeping Angel
Planets Of The Universe

I will be extremely pissed if she is passed over this year. I wish we could put our two cents in. If she doesn't get in, that would be f*cked. I'm just waiting to see what's going to happen. I hope it's in NY so I can try to get a ticket. That would be so cool to have the balcony packed with Stevie-maniacs screaming our heads off when they induct her. I will be extremely pissed if she is passed over this year.A lot of tremendously talented artists don't get inducted their first year of eligibility. If she doesn't get in this year, all is not lost... nor is it a reason to be too disappointed.

I do think she'll get in at some point in the not-too-distant future though.

I know but if you look at the female artists who've made an impact on music, there aren't many who have had the staying power and songwriting talent of Stevie. How many of the younger artists say she influenced them? Obviously Janis Joplin died prematurely but she didn't have that many hits. She was extremely influential to those who came after her, including SN. I have a hard time coming up with other women artists who should be inducted before she is, especially since her career began years before she went solo.

I think that she makes the effort to go to ceremony when she is not on the road and the fact that she is still a venerated artist by young and old bodes very well for her. I also think that if she releases a new record in the next year or so, WB will "make" that the year she is inducted. I mean it was no coincindence that FM got in around The Dance reunion
