I have never seen it or even heard of it. If anyone has a copy they would like to trade please email me at

I don't have much Stevie and FWM stuff to trade, but I do sell Avon and mark. and you could pick something out ..... (for men, there are guy things too).
Sounds really neat to see something Wild Heart era.
Whats the video like? Is it long? I'd love to make trades for Stevie videos if anyone is interested. You can browse at my website (but Avon makes you have to register before browsing - sorry). It's at http://www.youravon.com/laurieriley/ Anyone email if you want to do a trade for Stevie videos. Thanks!

Not sure what it's from, but I love it. The arrangement of WH she's singing is really cool. And she looks so cute in that yellow dress.
I have it on a DVD compilation with all kinds of cool Stevie stuff (Civil War Stand Back, etc) the quality is not great, but I can get it copied at the video duplicating service if anyone wants it (runs around $29 per DVD)...There are 43 different clips on the DVD, Interviews, and Jay Leno etc...
Email me if you would like a copy made at the duplicator"

Thanks for puttin that up Tiff! Now I really wanna see the whole thing! Stevie looked so pretty there! Who was that standing in front of her with her back towards the camera? It kinda looks like it could be Lori, but I'm not too sure.

OMG, Stevie looks adorable! So young and sweet and playful. I have never seen that before either, I must know where that is from.
That is a great clip from the video, Tiffany...
The whole thing is longer, but basically the same, very very cool, the poor makeup girl just gives up trying to put lipstick on the singing la Nicks...LOL...

The title at the bottom of the screen said it was when Stevie was getting ready backstage for one of the Bella Donna shows -- possibly the first. Looks like that to me. She's singing to an instrumental by Fleetwood Mac that obviously became "Can't Go Back" on Mirage, so the time frame makes sense too.

You're welcome. The woman in front of her is her assistant/make-up artist. (The same one helping her "touch up" when she goes backstage after Edge in the In Concert video).

Ha, it's so cute, she looks like a little kid, like she is incredibly proud of her song and wants to sing it for everyone! Look everyone! Listen to my song! Isn't it great? What a doll.

I think I figured out what its from. I have a video of the Rolling Stone Photo Shoot, the one with Stevie and Max the bird on the cover, and Stevie is wearing the same outfit, same hair, same makeup artist. Although that portion where she sings wildheart is not on the RSPS video, I'm postive thats just a clip from that photoshot. Go check it out! Its in the photograhers studio, looks like a big NY apartment with big windows used as a studio.

Why must she be high as a kite in this clip? She seems normal to me. Looks like she is concentrating on her singing and making a harmony to the vocals she is singing along with. Looks like a songwriter working on a song.... nothing screamed "oh my god, look, she's so high" to me. Just because things got severely bad around RAL doesn't mean she was high 24/7 before then. I mean, maybe she was high, or maybe she had a few drinks. Or maybe she was "normal" and sober. What points to her being high in the clip?

well, it's possible she's not, but just how her eyes look, and how she is behaving makes me think she is. There's a bit of an extra glow, and intensity...wait, that's not quite the right word...insistence? to her performance. You could be right, though. I mean, I don't know stevie or anything... :p

She does have such dark and intense eyes anyways, it'd be so funny to be her parents when she was a teen - - -they'd never be able to tell - lol!
Dad: "Come here you! Have you been smoking that funny stuff while you were out tonight?!?!"
Stevie: "No dad, no mom, I was just out with some new boy, Lindsey, and we were just pondering life. I was telling him about some boy who I had loved and lost, I was sad, but not blue, you know? ...Blue...yes, Lindsey had on the softest faded blue jeans....and his face, and the sunflowers...they just fascinated me...."
Mom: "Oh...okay dear. That's fine. I understand."
Stevie: "No, no I don't think you do...I feel like I've climbed a mountain, and I've turned around...and I see my reflection..."
Dad: [ever more insistant] "Okay dear. We believe you!"
Stevie: "...races, races are run, you know?....Some people win, but some people, oh, they always have to lose..."
Mom: [not even looking up from her knitting] "Yes honey, go write it all down in your diary. Goodnight dear."

All that other photo shoot video came from Maureen. I have about two hours of that on VHS. Some of it is fascinating & some of it is mucho boring -- which, I imagine, pretty much sums up photo shoots!

The same interview has what appears to be outtakes from the Rooms On Fire video with the girls all dressed in red and there is also a shot of Stevie twirling on a gorgeous marble floor in head to toe red chiffon shot from above. There is also a shot with I think the same photo of the cover from the single of Rooms but it looks like she's in one of those glass "snow balls." You know the kind you shake up and it snows?

:p I have this too - I think in WH thing, Sharon is off to Stevie's left, and that's who she keeps looking at...
Yeah, that RS photo shoot is painful to watch, yet very entertaining. All those trips to "that room," while Annie is patiently waiting...and Stevie can't stop babbling long enough for Annie to get a decent shot. "Stevie, I need eyes, give me your eyes!"

I have this video too on a mixed dvd, but could never figure out where its at or when it was shot.... I love it but just wish it were better quality. She's sooo adorable! Its so cute when she's sorta bouncing a little in her chair, and then puts her hands on her hips when she's singing :D The little yellow dress, and those sweet little hair ribbons....such a little girl at heart! And the expression on her face, she is GLOWING! (whether that's from a natural high, or not  )
I'm not sure if I would want to see the whole photo shoot though. As much as I love stuff like that, if its a little disturbing with the drugs & everthing, I think I'll pass (I've got family members who were/are substance abusers & I think it would just upset me a little :( )

Me too. I try to forget about Stevie's drug days (and I'm sure she does too) and I hate when people have to always bring it up, why  what's the sense? Can't we just try to believe that maybe, just maybe Stevie did have the odd day where she was happy and having fun without being stoned, at least that's what I like to think. My husband gets just pissed at me if I bring that up when I'm showing him an old video or picture! He always says, thanks, did you have to ruin it for me!

I'm surprisingly familiar with this one, probably because she's singing to Can't Go Back. It's interesting to hear it this way.
I always thought she was singing along to an instrumental demo of WH...I think at the beginning of the clip, she's talking about this great song she wrote called WH, and asking someone to start playing the tape. I could be mistaken. Anyway, there's some choppy editing and then you see what Tiff posted.

I have had this video for a while. I wish I could see the whole photo shoot!
Yes, the background music is "Can't Go Back" and Stevie is singing the basic lines from "Wild Heart" over the music such as
"Where is the reason, Don't blame it on me...blame it on my wild heart" over and over and over again...
And other lyrics like "Say I'm leaving, say you don't even know how to start"
But for some reason the two songs fit together which I would never have imagined. Plus, she DOES look so cute with those ribbons in her hair!

I agree... But it really buggs the hell out of me when non-fans (like some peope in my family), have to shove it in your face! Whether its Stevie, Janis, Jimi Hendrix.... they seem to have this endless rage against any musician whose had a drug problem, and regard them as the biggest low-lifes, considering they know Absolutely Nothing about them or their music!!! Yet, they don't even look at the dim-wits in our family & act like it never happened, like they never had a problem  I can't even go to my aunt's house for dinner, wearing a Stevie or Janis shirt with out getting criticized :distress: And although its not easy, i try not to think of the drugs either when listening to her music & looking at pics :)
Here's a typical conversation at dinner:
Grandpop points to shirt
~GP: Who the hell's that?
~Me: Oh, that's Stevie Nicks (smiles)
~GP: Oh her, that woman was high as a kite!
~Me: Poppop, you don't know what your talking about...
~GP: Are you calling me stupid?
~Me: No, I....
~GP: Cause I was in Korea.....
~Me: What does the Korean War have to do with Stevie Nicks?
~GP: Everything!
~MOM: Dad, that's enough....
~GP: You just had to send her to that art school..... now look at what she's being corrupted by!
~Me: Well, no matter what, I still think Stevie rocks!

I have a cassette tape with that Can't Go Back/ Wild Heart mix and I used to play that so much. I love it. There are other Mirage songs on it too... I was so excited to hear it on that video. It's probably the same tape she's listening to maybe?
My video copy is very old and bad but I love just watching her sit there and get ready. You get to see she's a very cool chic. I very much appreciate this tape.

The reason why I mentioned her being high bc shes obviously coked up. Her silly speedy behavior in the video shows that. I love Stevie even more for being wasted during a photo shoot lol! Its silly to deny that she might not as high during these times as she was later on. She seemed to be more drunk during the RAL years. Fleetwood Mac admits to cocaine being around everywhere during the Rumor sessions. Its not like she took a break off in 81 from the shiit.
Once you have partied yourself, or been around people who have, its quite easy to point out people that are high!

I'd never hold it against her, or really anyone back then for doing drugs.... It was the 70s/80s, its pretty stupid if you get into it these days, knowing the risks.... If the drugs kept her up for three days straight, giving her the ability to write/record some kickass music, I don't think she regrets it. You are right though, the drug use did become more frequent towards the 80s..... very hyper early on, but by RAL, she did seem more boozed up. I just think some people would rather not even acknowledge the drugs (even though its quite apparent), because it can be painful & disturbing . IMO, the whole image is very sad.... reminding me of Joplin...she was very lonely, no one would love her, & then ODs at 27. It freaks me out a little, knowing that could have happened to Stevie. Makes me wonder why no one tried to knock some sense into her early on

Anyone who has seen the entire photo shoot dvd understands Madgeboys "high as a kite" comment. Stevie's addictions are a part of her history. I understand wanting to try and forget about it, I do that with the weight gain years. However, Stevie's insecurities and vulnerabilities are partially what led her to her addictions...it was not just she wanted energy. Unfortunately, it is a part of who she is. She is as vulnerable as the next guy. People sometimes have this image of Stevie, that she is perfect, that she does not struggle from the same traps the average person does. People see her getting up on stage with the mass adulation of so many fans and think that means Stevie should have all the confidence in the world. (note..I am not directing these comments at any of the prior posters in this thread) I love Stevie and want her to have all the happiness in the world but the fact remains, she has self medicated in the past to deal with problems and stress. It does not take away from her talent and it is unnecessary to talk about it all the time. Some of my recent chatter about this topic has been purely out of concern and fear.

I always thought she was singing along to an instrumental demo of WH...I think at the beginning of the clip, she's talking about this great song she wrote called WH, and asking someone to start playing the tape. I could be mistaken. Anyway, there's some choppy editing and then you see what Tiff posted.
I've got to agree with Lux. I'm almost positive it's Can't Go Back. All the other songs that are played are from Mirage.

She does. And she sings beautifully in this video. It's amazing how she and Lori harmonize on it.

So true. Plus back then, it was very chic to be high on cocaine. So I'm certainly not bagging on her for it.

Makes me wonder why no one tried to knock some sense into her early on
~Carei
Just a little Joplin factoid- I think it's Myra Friedman's book that states that Joplin was pregnant when she OD'd.
With respect to RAL, I agree with you. I think she was using the booze to offset/balance the effects of the coke.

I didn't know originally that people were talking about the whole video. I just didn't see anything in her behavior from this little clip posted here that showed anything coked-out or high or unusual. Now I understand though, a few of you have mentioned seeing the whole entire thing and so have that in your mind when saying how high she was. So now I get where the thought came from - from seeing the whole video of it. Thanks for filling me in about it.
I don't try to forget her history. But she wasn't high all the time back then. And she always seems very excited, happy, easily amused (the fish in the Destiny Rules documentary, etc.). And I'm the same way. I never used drugs, never even tried them, yet had that "aura" when I was younger by some people who didn't know me well. Even now, I don't think I go a day or so without some major laughing fest where my stomach aches and my eyes are watering. Hubby and I get a lot of laughs out of life. And when I get into something, I get really into it. And when in a good mood and on a roll, I can talk and talk and talk...... (yet other times and very quiet). So - go figure. But it's all au' naturelle! ;) I'm just weird. :p

I've got to agree with Lux. I'm almost positive it's Can't Go Back. All the other songs that are played are from Mirage."Can't Go Back" was probably not even titled yet. It was probably just one of a bunch of instrumental tracks lying around, or being worked on slowly, that Lindsey recorded. The band was still at larrabee working on "Mirage" & they had a long way to go. At the time, Lindsey said that a bunch of instrumental tracks or lyrics were sort of circulating among the three writers: they'd borrow one another's work & take & adapt what they needed or wanted.
Stevie was apparently doing her photo shoot with Annie & brought along the Mirage tapes for listening & partying.

But we don't know for sure. That must have been 1981 and I don't think her addiction was as bad then as it got by 1985.
I watch some things, like her on SNL and I think to myself, oh she is high there, but again, I don't know for sure.
I grew up with two parents who shot up heroin and usually I can tell when someone is high but something like the SNL performance seems more drug induced then her silliness on that video which she just may have had some drinks.
But we can't let that taint these precious little treasures. It was a part of the culture at that time and we can't always assume she is on something or nothing will seem special from the first 10 years of her solo career. I personally wouldn't want any Rock a Little concerts and I have a hard time watching some of her OSOTM interviews ( one interview she'll be so like up and the next she's absolutely monotone) but again, she's Stevie no matter what pills or drugs or alcohol she may have consumed....
She's better now! That's what always makes me happy.

The first time I saw this clip was back in 1998 just after I bought my first PC and got on line. I was so excited by "finding" this rare gem, I called a music lover friend of mine and he came over just to see this clip. We must have played it and the MP3 of Stevie & Lindsey's version of Sorcerer over and over about a hundred times... I found both during the same internet session and decided that day I needed to be a full-fledged Stevie fan.

Watching her do Stand Back On SNL was a bit upsetting. But with that cast of Saturday Night Live back then, I am sure there was a lot of stuff backstage for her to sample! Too bad though. That was pretty horrible. I loved her doing Nightbird, it came out beautiful, although she looked so out of it during it, so wasted. But Stand Back was like - holy crap! : o
But silliness, and being really talkative, or excited about something - that can be normal for some people (I'd have to wave a hand to that myself). Or could be having had a few drinks, which is nothing horrible or unusual for a rocknroll star, or anyone young and hanging out with friends, having a good time. But I have not seen the whole WH dressing room (or photo shoot) video. From what others are saying, it shows more that causes them to think she's "under the influence." I still would love to see it though.

I didn' tknow she cancelled a part of that tour. That's a bummer. I missed her when she cancelled a few shows during Timespace. :( But I'd be even more upset to have missed an older show like during WH times like you did.
I wish they did release a WH concert video. That bootleg one in Maryland could have been okay to release. They could have, and I am sure would have edited out all her talking in between. But the songs themselves were good. Or atleast I thought so. I taped that concert from video onto a cassette tape way back when i got it to listen to all the time just because I love it. Gold Dust Woman, Sara, If Anyone Falls....they really seemed to have a *wild* feel to them, for a *Wild Heart* kind of tour! Even Dreams and Outside the Rain - it all sounded so fresh and exciting, I thought.
On my bootleg and another of that same show that a friend sent me, both do not have Edge of 17 or Rhiannon on them. I wonder if she did them, but for some reason they are cut off, even on the bootlegs. It would be so great to see her do those two songs during that time.... It was part of that Other Side of the Mirror TV extended interview that aired somewhere in the UK. That's where I first saw it -- the interview in the big castle.
Thank you! A long time ago when the Enchanted email list was going strong, there was a huge debate over weather or not the music is Can't Go Back. I think it's pretty obvious.

There's got to be a full version of that Landover show somewhere. One would think. They didn't just turn the cameras off after Gypsy or whatever.
I have the whole show on audience audio, but my video ends where everyone else's ends. I don't think this video was ever intended for commercial release (nor was Fleetwood Mac's Landover '79 film). I think some films were generally just intended for marketing & promotional purposes: I know both MTV & some national entertainment shows used parts of the Landover '83 film for their own profiles on Stevie.
But even if that Landover show were complete, it really isn't the one I want. I'd actually want a show from October or November. Back in June & July, Stevie looks & sounds like a perky young lady who's been drinking brandy. But by October, she is like Turandot, having her suitors beheaded at the slightest nod of her bespangled head. She's a hieratic, sexual predator in those later months onstage. She stalked the floorboards like Hamlet's ghost, & you can get a taste of that in her Saturday Night Live & Solid Gold appearances.
I really, really deplore the fact that she didn't tour in 1984. In hindsight, I wish I had traveled to Dallas for her Starck Club performance. By 1985, at those benefits she did in L.A., she was blowsy -- still fun & funky, but blowsy.

I feel bummed for you for missing out on seeing her. Did she cancel due to illness, or just, umm....too strung out...? :(It wasn't exactly a "canceled" tour -- more like aborted. Like Fleetwood Mac's plans to tour Europe in 1998. It just never happened. I don't know exactly what the reason was -- I know Anaheim Stadium was getting ready to announce a big rock festival that Stevie was going to play -- but it probably had to do with her deciding to start recording her third album instead.
I got to see Stevie about five times in 1983, but in retrospect that is not nearly enough for me.
But as John Stewart says, "You can't go back to Kansas." It's all over now. It's time to pick up the pieces & go . . . home.

Yeah, thats it, Annie Leibowitz studio. On the Rolling Stone photo shoot video, before they start taking the pictures Stevie is having her hair and make up done by the window. She is wearing the same dress, and its the same person putting on her make up. She has a tape with her that is playing, Smile at You is on the tape. Then the next part of the video is Annie taking her picture and then trying to get a picture with the bird. So its from that photo shoot, although the Wildheart portion is not on the photo shoot video, its not the whole thing. Its possible a clip of it was included in the uk interview, I don't remember seeing it there. The Wildheart clip I had was just on a video of various stuff.
I guess it's from that, then -- the photo shoot with Annie Leibowitz, right?
No, it's part of the program. It's the same interview where Stevie & Sharon & Lori sing "Doing the Best I Can" at the piano.
All that other photo shoot video came from Maureen. I have about two hours of that on VHS. Some of it is fascinating & some of it is mucho boring -- which, I imagine, pretty much sums up photo shoots!

I actually thought it was a tape recording of another track, possibly one of Lindsey's, that she's singing along to. the person she's looking at is probably Sharon so they can keep the harmonies and lyrics right...you know, timing. that's my best guess/recollection.

It's not someone playing the piano, it's a recording. Here's an mp3 of it.
http://s39.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1DXUU50RXABDQ3HOWSFLF5YGHK
Now you can do your own Stevie karaoke. Although it's not as much fun without someone to sing the harmony with. I really love the ending with the extra high notes, I never noticed them in the recording with Stevie because I was so busy listening to her. It really is a pretty piece of music.
The first time I saw this I thought it was backstage at a show. Stevie starts singing "Love In Store" when the music comes on. She says, "this is the one I was telling you about" and I thought she was mad at Lindsay for starting to play a different song while she was singing "Love In Store", so she decided to get back at him by singing different lyrics to his song.
It's interesting to see how two people could get very different songs from the same piece of music, though. Have you guys heard that demo of Eyes Of The World. Lindsay is playing and singing the little "bum bum bum" parts and Stevie is singing "Woah woah woah I hope you make it" which obviously became Enchanted. Now pay Eyes of the World and Enchanted back to back and you'll hear how similar they sound. I was amazed when I first heard that.

At first I thought it might be two different concerts, but after checking every WH HSML, I didn't find a match. Now that I know the full audio does exist, I'm guessing the part after Gypsy is possibly Landover?

Back in those days, everyone graded it a D. But it goes all the way through Rhiannon. Good show, just like all the Wild Hearts.

This is one of my favorite shots of her,it really looks enchanting and stevie like" is this where she goes from red to black, after talking about ALICE.?

It's not someone playing the piano, it's a recording. Here's an mp3 of it.

Holy Crap! That was all new to me. you just blew my mind with that entire post. I will need time to digest. In the meantime, I will be singing along to this recording. ..................
Wheres my harmony!
