Man, I was only gone for like a week and this place is so crammed full of new threads it's like an entirely new place! So, why not start another one!

I say, let's keep them within the first five rows. My best seats:

Magnetic Fields in Vancouver: 3rd Row
Ani Difranco in Banff: Front Row
Ani Difranco in Banff: 3rd Row
Fleetwood Mac in Calgary: 3rd Row Centre
Fleetwood Mac in Toronto: 5th Row
Diana Krall (back when I kinda gave a ****) in Calgary: Front Row Centre
Holly Cole (see above) in Calgary: Front Row Centre
Alison Krauss (coming up soon!) in Calgary: 3rd Row
Emmylou Harris in Vancouver: 3rd Row
Jane Siberry in Calgary: Front Row
Lyle Lovett in Calgary: 4th Row
George Jones in Calgary (coming soon! and yes, i know it's funny I'm seeing him): 3rd Row
Morrissey in Toronto: 6th Row - i know it's 6th row but I did get up to the front half way into the set and held his hand!

I'm sure there are more but I can't think of any others right now.

My best seats were front row for 6 FM concerts on the SYW tour! MInd you I don't think my bum actually touched the seats at all!

When I saw Stevie in Vegas in 2001 I was 5th row.

4th row for FM in Atlanta May 2004, which turned into standing under Stevie for majority of the show.
Same as above for Jacksonville in May 04.
Front row for the Tuesday Vegas show.
I had bought 8th row for Stevie/Don in Atlanta but was able to sit on Suzanne's lap for the first 30 mins of the show on the 4th row. But did the right thing and moved back to my seat.
Currently looking for something in the first 5 rows for Vegas.....

Front row for 99% of the SYW England shows. Thank you to Pip for helping us with the England shows! Actually in Birmingham, we had 3rd row, but got to stand at the stage (thank you security!). There was one night, we had 25th row and MAN, what a downer. LOL Although, that night was the best ISA I heard at the England shows. Thank God someone recorded that London show!

Had front row for both the Dallas and Houston 2004 SYW shows.

I had front row for a Michael W. Smith concert once.

Luckiest.Man.Ever.

I was in front for the two say you will shows that I saw. One cost a bumload of money, the other was $25. It's hard to go back from front row.

I had front row for 5 Fleetwood Mac shows and 3rd row for another one which basically was front row since they let the first 3 rows up to the stage anyway. :D

$25? How did that happen?
I don't remember how much Mirage was....I'm thinking like $14......maybe $20.

LOL! Well a couple fo the shows I got front row through the fan club which was amazing really since the fan club did nothing for the US shows. The rest of the tickets I snagged about a week or so before the actual gigs. Just happened to check at the right time as they released a whole load of front row seats. I emailed everyone I could think of and quite a few ofthe folks from my UK list snaffled them!

As it turned out they were letting the first few rows up anyway so it was all good...

I bought the cheapest ticket, but got up front anyway. Trust me, the amount I spent on the other ticket more than made up for it. Blergh.

I have been fortunate to have a lot of good seats for concerts. :o

The four times I have seen the Mac on the Say You Will tour from the front row.

The third row center seats I had for The Dance tour show in Memphis.

The third row and eighth row center seats I had for Stevie on this tour.

The front row seats I had for Paul McCartney on the Back in the U.S. tour in 2002.

The second row seats for Pete Best in Knoxville.

Tracy Chapman--I sat on the floor right in front of the stage at the Fillmore in San Fransisco.

The backstage pass that I got in college from my roommate( My roommate's dad was Billy Ray's accountant.) to see Toby Keith and Billy Ray Cyrus. This was during Cyrus's peak. We all got to sit backstage and watch the show, hang out with them, got to go on their tour buses, etc.

I took my mom for a birthday present to see Toby Keith and Montgomery Gentry on the second row.

The eighth row seats I had for Prince on his Musicology tour.

I stood in front of the stage for two, Bob Dylan shows. One show his opening act was the Black Crowes, and the second show his opening act was Willie Nelson.

I sat tenth rows from the stage for a free Steve Winwood concert in Knoxville.

I have eighth row seats on July 27 for John Fogerty and John Mellencamp.

As long as I can see the band from a good vantage point then I don't mind not having close awesome seats but I have had some nice seats

Lynyrd Skynyrd 1987 New Haven Coliseum on left side of stage three rows up almost level with the stage.

Lindsey Buckingham 1993 New Britain The Sting was G.A. so I was up front :] :] :blob2: :blob1:

Stevie Nicks 1996 Boston Common was G.A. and I was up front for this one also.

Stevie Nicks 1998 Hartford The Meadows 3rd row

Fleetwood Mac 2003 Worcester Centrum second night 2nd row

Fleetwood Mac 2004 Hartford The Meadows 10th row

Journey 2004 Uncasville Mohegan Sun Arena one section 25 from stage row 8

Numerous FM and Stevie shows - first 5 rows. Woot.

Front row for Tina Turner w/ Lionel Richie opening. I'll never forget him looking right at me while he was singing "Brickhouse!"

10th row for the Stones, Steel Wheels tour

12th row or so for Heart on their last tour. Security was non-existent, so I ended up right at the stage for most of it.

Fleetwood Mac: 2004 Sheds Tour
West Palm Beach- 5th row center
Jacksonville- 8th row, Stevie's side
Atlantic City- Second row, right in front of Stevie's mic (turned into front row since I jumped over the chairs in front of me!)

Stevie Nicks: Dreams
May 13- 3rd row (got to shake hands with Stevie!)

Stevie Nicks: Gold Dust Tour
Tampa- 7th row (got to shake both her hands!)

George Jones in Calgary (coming soon! and yes, i know it's funny I'm seeing him): 3rd Row

Wow. You do know this makes you officially cool in my eyes forever more?
I adore George Jones. I think he's one of the greatest singers ever. It's not funny at all you're going to see him, it's immensely cool.

Oh and to the question. The best seats things doesn't apply to me so much since most of the concerts I go to are standing only. I rarely go to big arena shows.

Fleetwood Mac - Front row seat directly in front of Lindsey's microphone, Earls Court 30.11.03.(Thanks for swapping Pip!) I actually never sat in it because I was leaning on Lindsey's monitor speaker all night! Played the Model 1 during GYOW too...

Fleetwood Mac - Front row seat directly under Lindsey's microphone again! (He remembered me from the gig 3 days earlier! lol!) Manchester Evening News Arena 03.12.03. I never sat in this one either, took up my stance against Lindsey's monitor speaker once again, played Lindsey's Model 1 again too!!

Mark Knopfler - Second row seat to the right of Knopfler at the Royal Albert Hall 01.06.05. Again I got up and stood against the stage in front of the man himself, this time for the encore.

Peter Green Splinter Group - Stood about 2 feet and at the same level (no joke) from Peter for the entire gig in the 100 capacity venue of Bar Cuba in Macclesfield, UK, for the gig in October 2001. Spent about 30 minutes chatting with him after the show too...

Fender 50th Anniversary Concert, September 2004 - Row 6, centre left. Got to see the gig with the likes of Hank Marvin, Ron Wood, Brian May, Gary Moore, Joe Walsh, Paul Rodgers and David Gilmour.. And I'm on the DVD too... :D

Live 8, Hyde Park, UK. 02.07.05. I stood right at the front of the standard section, right in the middle against the barriers.. As close as I could get to see a fantastic gig and better than that, Pink Floyd!!!! :blob1:

i am so jealous...

the best non FM/SN seats i've had were:

Neil Young 1997,98 front row
Smashing Pumpkins 1996 front row
Jimmy Buffett 1995,96,97,98,99,00,01,02,03,04,05 first three rows
NIN 2000 front row

and every FM/SN seat has been at least 'great' but the best was definitely fourth row at the AC borgata show last september, because it was matt's first show. oh, and let's not forget my second row tix to the pittsburgh show that was taken from me last june. i certainly haven't gotten over that one.

oh, and i sat in the third row for New Kids on the Block back in the day :D

Front row, in front of Stevie - OSOTM Tour, Ottawa & Toronto

Front row, in front of Stevie - SYW Tour, Scranton & Detroit

5th row centre - Two Voices Tour - Detroit

8th row, Stevie's side - BTM Tour - Toronto

--------------------------------------------------------------

5th row, right - Madonna Who's That Girl Tour - Montreal

---------------------------------------------------------------

And far too many shows at bars and other small venues to remember of artists before they got too big for the small venues - oh, also front row, I believe, for Pat Benatar at some point in Montreal...

It must have been. Was that person cute, because if she was, then it was me  just kidding. That was so long ago, that all I remember is that I literally had the two seats in the centre (with Stevie's mic between them). I remember when I bought them from ticketmaster at 10:01 a.m. on the first day they went on sale (if you can believe that), I said to the woman, wow, where exactly are these seats (this was long before the internet and buying them on-line with a seating chart in front of you) and she said, section 1, row 1, seats blah, ba, blah (I can't remember what seat #'s now, I'll have to find those tickets). Anyhow, I made her repeat it like 3 times before I believed her! Plus, it was my very first Stevie concert and I couldn't f**cking believe it!

K. I think we were standing next to each other. Too funny. The worst part, the friend I was at that show with, I also went to the Ottawa show with. We took some amazing photos - and the best one, she had blown up and framed. We used to share it - 3 months at my house, 3 months at her house. Then we had a HUGE fight - she dated my ex-boyfriend and lied about it. I've never seen the photo since.

And, yes, I remember the days of waiting in line to buy tickets... getting up at 4am to be first in line!! Those were the days... You had to work for your front row seats!!

That's too bad about the pictures, I would have loved to have seen something from the Toronto show! I remember Stevie wearing red, with big permed hair and my husband and I were shocked  with her weight when she walked out on stage (we were then, I guess what you call casual fans and weren't following her every movement) so her weight gain was very surprising to us :distress:

2nd row for TISL in Camden. But it was so far off to the left I had a speaker in front of me. I did get close up front in the end.

Other than that, I have been rows 9 and 10 for 3 SYW shows and one other TISL show. For the Dance shows I was never close and for Enchanted I could NOT have been further back.

I haven't been lucky, but someday!

Some of you have been so very lucky, especially for those SYW shows in England:)

I passed up the opportunity to see him with Tammy Wynette years ago and I'm still kicking myself. Honestly I am such an idiot for not going, I really regret it and apparently it was an amazing show.

in getting close in seats, but I do better for general admission, that is, standing up close to the stage in small venues in my home state.

I saw Daryl Hall & John Oates up close to the stage at The Big Kahuna in Wilmington, DE, a couple of years ago. I saw Blondie last year up close to the stage at The Bottle & Cork in Dewey Beach, DE. And this year on June 30th, I saw Kenny Wayne Shepherd at The Bottle & Cork up close to the stage. So close to Deborah Harry & Kenny Wayne Shepherd that I could have touched them! I temporarily lost my hearing at the KWS concert because I was too close to a speaker, but it was worth it.

I was at that gig right in front of Lindsey too. I must have been really near you!

Hmmm... best seats... I had front row for Stevie at the Gorge during the Enchanted tour. I had 5th row for one of the SYW shows but as soon as the show started I ran to the stage and spent the entire show there. I had a pretty good spot for Beck last night... I guess I have always been a front row snob, and I blame my parents for it. LOL, anyway my first few concerts were always front row as my parents bought me tickets thru a broker. My first concerts were the Police for the Ghosts in the Machine tour, Olivia Newton-John in Phili, PNC, 2 nights at Forest Hills, Hartford. I was also able to see Van Halen at the Garden that year. I also have seen Stevie during the Wild Heart tour front row again for the Meadowlands and both Radio City shows. I have also had the pleasure of having front row for Kiss, Aerosmith, Guns and Roses, Metalica, Twisted Sister, Sheryl Crow, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, and too many more to even think about.

Did anyone on this board see them during the Rumours tour? If so, what seats?

I did...dozens of times...well, not exactly Rumours tour, but between the time Lindsey & Stevie joined and before they stopped to record Tusk (between 1975-78).

The white album tour...3rd row center, at the 4,000 seat Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on Thanksgiving night, 1975...Bob Welch was seated directly in front of me.

I was about 20' from the stage when they played a "private" concert at Loyola Marymount University's gym in early 1976.

Was 10th row center for a December 1979 Tusk tour show...the only show of that stand at the GW Forum where the USC marching band showed up & played.

For me, "closer" isn't necessarily "better". I prefer to be either off to the side in the risers (at arena shows), about two or three sections back from the front of the stage, about equal height to stage level. OR...right in front of the soundboard (THAT's where the best sound in the house is! )

 That's like asking "which of your children is your favorite"...you don't play favorites!! There was really no ONE show that encapsulated everything; but, I can TRY to respond a BIT to your question:

Band Intensity: August 1977, GW Forum. The band was really tight throughout the show; one of the better "Rhiannon"s I've ever seen/heard; even Lindsey's take on "Oh Well" didn't annoy me like previous shows/tours.

Set List: The "Shake The Cage" tour in 1987...a mix of new tunes, the hits, old gems & rare surprises.

Sound: Final show of the 1990 tour...I was sitting RIGHT in front of the soundboard...it was like listening to a live CD...just fantastic sound!

Biggest Surprise: The aforementioned Tusk show when the black curtain backdrop opened to reveal the USC Marching Band in full Trojan regalia.

But, there's just nothing like the awe of your FIRST Fleetwood Mac show...for me, that was their taping of the Don Kirshner's Rock Concert TV show in 1974 around the time of the release of Heroes Are Hard To Find. Bob Welch was incredible (moreso than what was finally aired on TV).

That's awesome. Did you see them on The Dance tour? I missed that tour unfortunately...'cause now I wont have the chance to see the "classic" Mac-lineup again. But my friend Bill said it was a great tour, but the band seemed somewhat bored, especially Lindsey. Bill said the Tusk tour was probably the best as far as sound, setlist and showmanship.

Sorry, I edited my post after you'd quoted me.

Yeah, I saw them twice on The Dance tour. I found it a bit boring...only because it was pretty much note-for-note, word-for-word from The Dance video (plus a few other tunes). And, then, two days later, it was like watching a tape of the show I'd just seen a couple of days before. The only difference between the two shows (that I can recall) is that the first show, they NAILED the harmonies on "Farmer's Daughter"...the second show, WHEW! :( , SOUR!!! That's how I could tell they weren't lip-syncing! :)

Yeah I see. I think the Dance DVD is amazing though. Lindsey's guitar work is very enjoyable. I wish they had filmed more of the Say You Will tour. I wanted to see Lindsey's Red Rover, Sara, and I Know I'm Not Wrong. I would rather see them pull out odd cuts like those than the typical "Rhiannon" and such, that cant really be done justice anymore.

I think what annoyed me the most during The Dance (and I DO see my hypocracy in this, in regards to Lindsey), was that they didn't do ANY material from prior to 1975 (ok, let's get down to brass-tacks, they didn't play "Oh Well"!). I thought that was really crappy that they just ignored 10 years of "Fleetwood Mac" material and basically just hammered us with white album & Rumours yet again.

From what I've seen of The Dance boots, and such, they should have kept to the newer stuff. Bleed to Love Her, My Little Demon...the tour set list seemed to be a nostalgia fest. I would have continued to move forward. But, I think at the time, they didnt know if the band was going to continue after the tour. So I guess they were justified in playing all the "hits."

Oh. My. God. How very cool

Could you tell the difference in any interaction between LB and SN or Christine and John in the time from the White Album Tour until the Tusk tour? I have always wondered how much more or less intense things were on stage over that particular time period.

Any other noteworthy differences, other than the obvious setlist changes?
