View Full Version : Your dream opening song

A bit of a carryover from another thread. What would you pick as Stevie's opening number?
I'd stick with Outside The Rain, a perfect opener. Although I agree with Curtis that Rooms On Fire would be a good one.
I don't see the need for opening with a rocker or highly upbeat song like Enchanted. I just think that's too formulaic. I think the opener just needs to capture the essence of the performer.

Bella Donna
That is definitely my #2 choice. Can you imagine Stevie taking stage during that piano intro? Beautiful. I just don't think she pull off TISL.
Sable on Blonde would be pretty amazing.
I've always liked 'Outside The Rain', still do. 'Rooms On Fire' is another good choice, and I've always thought 'Stand Back' would be a great opener, though it's unlikely to ever happen...

Sable On Blond or Blue Lamp would be great. I wouldn't mind Sister Honey, but she'd have to do some funky dance out onto the stage.

I HATE when people open with slow stuff...I am already on an adrenaline high just going to see my fave artists, so I wanna ROCK (tm Dee Snider)!!! I would love to hear Stand Back right off the bat....and leave Edge towards the end of the show.
Nothing Ever Changes would be fun too.

Fire Burning...
And for FM... From a darkened stage, Stevie walks out from one side, Lindsey walks out from the other... They meet in the middle... and they sing Second Time... Then the drum beat starts for The Chain...

When I first heard Stand Back live in the 80's, with all the drum intro, I had goosebumps from it. I could just picture her opening with it, all that drumming intro getting people all spazzy and excited. I always pictured the stage totally dark, then as the bongo's start, a colored light would shine a little on the person playing. Then another colored light (dim lights) would shine as each person started playing their instrument, one at a time (drums, bass, guitar, then keyboard). Then of course as Stevie starts singing, a bright white light would shine on her.
I also love Bella Donna live, and that would be pretty to ease into as an opening number. But it is very mellow, so maybe is better mid-concert, I don't know.
I think anything unusual that she's never done live before would be exciting. Like Violet and Blue. Or Blue Lamp.

Rooms of Fire! I only started to see Stevie live with SYW so I don't have high hopes for ever seeing this song performed but one can only dream!! I would pee my pants and probably pass out (and I thought of Rooms the second I read the title to this thread).
*The first time I heard it live on a boot I cried. I'm so dramatic but this song represents a lot of things in my life

I don't understand why she doesn't do this one anymore. I thought she did a nice job of it at House of Blues in '99 but she dumped it the next night and I guess it's gone forever.
BTW, I finally got to listen to "Touched By An Angel". It's a very moving song..thanks again for sending to me.

The extended rock mix of "I Can't Wait" would be the perfect opening song.. ESPECIALLY this year, being 2005... the opening lines "how will we feel in 20 years from now?" would fit soooo perfectly... afterall, it IS 20 years later... with the right kind of visuals in the background and the right band, this song would KICK ASS as the opener!

Yeah! It will never happen, but I always thought that Long Way To Go would be a great opener for a concert. Imagine the first line...with Stevie asking the audience the very applicable question "CAN I BE OF ANY HELP TO YOU?"
Has anyone ever heard the extended remix of this song? It has a long teaser intro before Stevie chimes in. I imagine an audience eager with anticipation as the song builds up to her entrance to the stage.

I haven't seen this tour yet, but in the past the first songs have been pretty stoic. I'd rather see SB later in the set where she's at least going to be into it.
But if she did open with SB, I think the drum solo would be great for building suspense.

"Stand Back" is her premiere uptempo song she does live... to open with it, would kind of suck alot of the anticipation from the rest of the show... she needs a more balanced set....
However, i always thought "Stand Back" would be a great encore right after "Edge"... she did it like that once on TOSOTM tour and never again.... she should try doing it again... :woohoo:

Nothing Ever Changes appeared in my dream last night but I woke up with Long Way to Go in my head (they don't sound too much alike but are both upbeat, rocker songs I guess?). I thought everyone would really like to know this. In the dream I was back in TX (where I grew up) in High School (tragic thought) and I saw NEC posted on the wall of the cafeteria. I freaked out and was so excited and said "Who here loves Stevie Nicks because I LOVE Stevie Nicks".

If anyone does not have this find it NOW. I love when she says "Can I be of any help to you you you" towards the end and "you" echos. Great 80's affects! And love that teaser intro. the TTM thing made me cry after the show, it really did, i mean she shouldnt say things like that! us fans r too fragile! i think either TTM or I Cant Wait should open the show, perferably I CANT WAIT, because it has such a long into where she could do "How Do I love YOU.." back stage, and then make a big apperance ( on the top of a big starcase prehaps?) with the "I Cant Wait I Cant WAIT!" with the back up girls on either side and they kinda reinact the music video on the steps as they go down...ive kinda planed out stevies farewell tour in my head ( i hate to say "farewell" but i mean the biggest concert she ever puts on)
if she did that with I cant wait, and had TTM in the set, it would make up for not having TTM in the set in vegas ( what am i saying i love stevie no matter what she says and dosent go through with!!)

Around the time of the Vegas shows, I had this whoooole idea about starting with I Can't Wait, since the beginning of the video was shown on the screens then (right? I forget. I wasn't there, so yeah). I was all picturing her on top of stairs with her back to the audience like in that part of the video and turning around when everything kicks in and kicking ass.

Everytime Fleetwood Mac goes on tour, I always daydream they'd do Frozen Love. And then when Christine left, I was totally hoping for Frozen Love and also California Dreaming. Sable on Blond. Yep agreed. Perfect.
Although I would love it if she did Think About It. It could work.
I can see Think About It working just fine.

The remix kicks ass.

After seeing that clip of her singing Wild Heart in another post here (the post about the "Wild Heart backstage video", which now looks like it might be behind the scenes from a photo shoot instead, but whatever).... Wild Heart could be redone into a cool "unplugged" song..... that'd be so wild to hear live!
It's from the Rolling Stone cover photo shoot for Bella Donna with Annie Leibowitz.
It wouldn't sound right without Miss Lo-retta harmonizing on it with her.
