I got the weirdest look at work when Ace of Base came on the system and I said I liked them. (The fact I knew who they were got the looks I think). Who do you like that gets a double take?

I like Ace of Base....have their first album. I'm not ashamed of any bands/singers I like. I get weird looks for liking FM, The Monkees, boy bands and Justin Guarini. I wore this N'Sync shirt the other day and got some double-takes. LOL It's a cute shirt with them as cartoons.

I like some Britney tunes, with Stronger being a fave. I only own her first album, no GH or anything. I will probably go get Stronger and a few others off iTunes since I have some credit.

Don't care for her as a person, especially after her marriage to Cletus, but some of her songs are pretty fun. I did hear some of her "singing" on the radio after some HBO special or something and YOWZA...stick to the lip-synching, PLEASE.

White Stripes. Gawd, they're bad, but some of their stuff is addicting.

I got weird looks when I bought Loretta Lynn's last album last year, and every time I browse the country section, I can see people staring at me as if I'm pissing on the CDs. I get laughs when someone is with me and I play Bette Midler in my car. Don't know why they laugh, I'm usually playing The Rose soundtrack and it kicks ass.

My grandmother was a Diamond fanatic. She didn't like music very much, but when it came to Diamond, she was as passionate as some of these Stevie fans. She was the same way with Midler. I still have all of her memorbilia in a box somewhere, it was truly insane.

Um, FM would be considered a guilty pleasure really. I tell the younger, hip kids that I like FM and they are like, THEY SUCK.

DITTO! United Center in August. WOOT! (suck it, Greg!#*@)($)

Today, I was in Wal-Mart and had to force myself to put down the Keith Urban album I was about to buy. For some that might not be a big deal- he IS talented, believe me, I know- but if anyone saw me with that? They'd be shocked. My shame was reinforced when I got back in the car and my changer switched from Belle and Sebastian to Kings of Convenience.

Anyhow, for the most part, I'm ashamed of nothing. Neil, Fleetwood Mac, my obsession with old school country, etc.

It was "Be Here" because of my monster affection for "You're My Better Half."

"Alright Already". His first three solo albums were good. Rascal Flatts singer is very talented, but HE HASN'T GOT A COUNTRY NOTE IN HIS BODY!!!!! He's singing R&B, new style, with all the little vocal inflections that everyone uses now, squeezing 20 notes into every word sang. It's craptacular, and it sure ain't country! Rant off now. I now, believe it or not, when not listening to FM, listen to old country like Hank Sr, Bob Wills, Ernest Tubb, etc...

It was NICE sharing these country thoughts with you!

4. Frankie Goes to Hollywood
5. GWAR

7. Chaka Khan

another fan of those rulers of the Earth from the frozen icebergs of the Anarctic GWAR...They may not be the greatest of musicians but Balsac, Flattus Maximus, Sexecutioner, Jizmak de Gusha & their faithful leader Oderus Urungus put on one helluva theatrical show.

Have you bought the Gold album (2 cdisc)? Highly recommended. Creeque Alley & Midnight Voyage are two of my favorite songs, & I think the harmonies on Once Was A Time I Thought are maybe their best ever. I had planned on listing it on the song lengths thread since it's so short.
I've always wished that Fleetwood Mac would write a song like Creeque Alley, detailing the history of the band. That would rock if they coulfd get it under ten minutes.

I only have the 20th Century Millenium CD. Creeque Alley is a trip..."and everyones gettin' fat except Mama Cass..."

That would rock if they coulfd get it under ten minutes.

BWAH!! With the author of Space Needle in the band...that ain't gonna happen. ;)

Just listened to Once Was a Time...on iTunes...I've never heard that before...those harmonies are gorgeous! I may have to get this Gold CD.

According to a lot of my friends, my love for the 10,000 Maniacs/Natalie Merchant makes me a lame. They say that about FM too. Pssh. They can kiss my ass. :D

I love 60s jazz/motown. Ergo; Ann-Margret, The Ronettes, Dusty Springfield, Nancy Sinatra, The Supremes, etc. I also love Xtina and Kelly Clarkson, and I dig what I've heard from Gretchen Wilson. I love Jay Z, Eminem, and Kanye West too. I'm a proud dork! ^_^

Heard Sinatra's last album? It kicks ass. My love for Ann-Margret knows no bounds, either.

I dunno.....Brandon always looks like a deer in the headlights on stage. He must be nervous. Maybe he needs to do a shot before each show like Stevie. I mean, of course they make the album sound perfect with technology, but I wish Brandon would take singing lessons or something that would make him sound a little better live.

I especially love PP&M. Of course, Noel "Paul" Stookey WAS in my uncle's wedding LONG before PP&M. The Mamas & The Papas are also a favorite. One of my favorite albums is "Dave Mason & Cass Elliot" which has a classic '70s sound. You can almost hear the orange mushrooms on the wall paper!

Brandon Flowers is a Mormon? Wow, I obviously haven't read NME enough recently. I wouldn't have guessed that from their lyrics.

Not really a fan, but I thought the Killers were okay on Live 8. Snow Patrol were better though.
I have to say I got the latest Later With Jools Holland DVD and The Killers are on it, it's an early performance and Flowers looks completely different. Me thinks the record company did some restyling...

I remember the first time I heard "More Than This" (on the radio)...I only heard the trail end of it (after the vocals had ended)...I knew that FMac's Tango album was on its way and thought it might've been a track from it. When I found out who it was, I bought Avalon immediately! And, as great as Avalon is, I later got their Flesh & Blood album...I think it is even BETTER than Avalon.

The Cass shuffle is so cute. :D I would recommend buying the newest DVD they have out: California Dreamin-The Songs of the Mamas and the Papas. It has some great concert and vintage footage on it. Also, it has some never released songs with footage on there.

That's the one I've seen parts of.

Me too. Plus, I think Michelle Phillips is gorgeous. I also like The Carpenters. Karen's voice is one of the most beautiful I've ever heard.

Come on, she can't beat Rick Moranis's Close To You. ;)

I also think that Karen Carpenter has an amazingly beautiful voice. All of her songs were soooo sad though. Of course, unforunately, she wasn't a very happy person, so I guess it suited her. That is probably why they were so real and emotional, because she was living it. :(

No way, that band doesn't fit the category. They were always very highly regarded & very hip. You should feel absolutely no qualm about loving Roxy Music. No one in his right mind would fault you for it.

alright, iw asnt for sure or not lol. Im glad their respected!

I swear to you, this is all true.

I have seen Ashlee Simpson in concert. And I liked it. A lot. Actually, I was cheering at the end. I liked all the songs she performed, even though I knew none of them prior to coming to the show. I liked her performance, her energy, and her attitude. She just seemed like a cool person. So now, I have absolutely no hate for her. She sounded fine, she was definitely singing live, and she just seemed so nice. There's just nothing there for me to hate. I understand all that SNL stuff, but, well, **** happens.

Why did I go to the concert? My cousin's daughter is 10, my boyfriend's niece is 7...for some miraculous reason they both had tickets to this show and they wanted me to take them. So I did the humane thing and, although slightly embarrassed by being seemingly the only person there totally clueless about anything AS-related, and not wearing a signature "Ashlee, You Make Me Wanna Lala" shirt, I still thought the show was great. And, like I said, I don't dislike her at all and think she's kind of cool.

So that's my story. I'm sure everyone here hates her and is secretly laughing at me for this confession, but I braved it. And now we shall move on. :p
