Emmy Nominations (http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/TV/07/14/emmy.nominations/index.html)
Well, once again they completely ignored Gilmore Girls. Fools.
Happy about Patricia Arquette & Scrubs, though.

I'm happy about all the Arrested Development nominations- writing, best comedy, Jason Bateman, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter- but I cannot believe that another year is going by without any noms for Gilmore Girls. I mean. Jesus. I wish they'd just decide whether it's a comedy or a drama, because they are amazing in both arenas. I mean- who could watch Lauren Graham leaving that message on Luke's machine about The Way We Were and not cry like a baby?
Also excited Hugh Laurie got a nom for best actor, because it means Hugh Laurie in a tux. Woot!

Desperate Housewives is Emmy worthy? Not on your life. Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman, sure, but that's about it.
I'm glad that Arquette, Garner, and Hargitay were nominated; same with Spader and Scrubs. Overall, it's a piss-poor list, though. I mean, The West Wing? *vomits*

Diss, have you watched House? It's my favorite new thing from this last season. He brings the snark.
The Desperate Housewives circle jerk is beyond pissing me off by now. I watched the show, and I just don't get what the big freaking deal is. It's not bad. It's not great. I'm tired of critics humping it.
I'm also excited that Scrubs & Zach Braff were nominated. Maybe now NBC will consider bringing it back this fall instead of next year? Probably not. But a girl can dream.

I thought I was the only one who thought all this praise for DH was ridiculous. Yes, I like the show & the women are fab. But I don't think there's anything groundbreaking going on either. To get the most nominations - wtf?

Proof that it's all about hype and popularity - and nothing to do with talent and/or originality. Sad. I think it used to be more so...
I missed DH during its first run; I'm watching it now in repeats. It's good - but it's certainly not MUST WATCH TV. If I miss an episode, I don't scramble around trying to find a friend who taped it. I'm already a little tired of the same old story-line. Just reveal the damned secret already. I'm getting bored!
I do have to admit I am, and always have been, a huge West Wing fan. It hasn't been the same since Aaron Sorkin stopped writing it, but this past season it definitely had glimmers of its first few seasons. I've recently gone back and watched the first three seasons on DVD, and the writing and acting and directing is just unbelievably brilliant. Every actor on it deserves an Emmy in my opinion.
Other than that, I didn't get into any new shows this season at all. Nothing held my attention for more than an episode or two.

DH is not only nominated, but it's for comedy!!
There are so few comedies out and they knew DH would never win for drama, they put it under comedy so now they all have a chance.
The only other comedy that matched in nominations was Will and Grace, which I am sure is past it's peak and Raymond which is so past it's peak it ended ittself.
I guess the sitcom is dead for now.

Also, they didn't wanna put it against their other show....Lost.

I would have said the same about Will & Grace 2 years ago, but this past season was really an improvement (imho). Once they wrote Harry Connick Jr's loser character out, the show pick up it's old vibe from the first few seasons...

I am really not a W&G fan. I can't believe the number of nominations it got. I'm actually *relatively* happy with the comedy nominations, because I think Arrested Development is the best show on TV, let alone the funniest, and Scrubs is awesome too. I don't think DH belongs there... but it's the same issue with Gilmore Girls. That show deserves a nomination for the show, and noms for Lauren Graham AND Kelly Bishop- but not only does it have a strike against it because it's on the WB, but they don't know whether to categorize it as a drama or a comedy.

They weren't even going to do a last season because Ray wanted more money and there was a big contreversy. I love this show and I am glad is nominated for emmys. Along with supporting emmys for Peter Boyle and Brad Garret.
I just an epsidoe of Everybody Loves Raymond where Ray and Debra make fun of their parents at their wedding anniversary party but when Frank and Marie make fun of them they get pissed. Loved it!

Yeah, but at least Hugh Laurie got his. They did get a writing nomination for "Three Stories"- the episode where they showed what happened to his leg.
I LOOOOVE House. I love Housisms:
Cameron: "Is that the woman you use to live with?"
House: "No, that's her Indian name".
House: "No placebos for him. We'll use REAL medicine!"
House: "It will be more cost-efficient once I grab Cameron's ass, call Foreman a spade, and Chase...well, I'll grab his ass too."
I can't wait for the DVDs.

The sitcom died on May 16th 2005 when Raymond ended its 9 year run. But before that it was alive and well, because Everyobody Loves Raymond was the greatest show ever, even in its 9th season. i pray it wins MANY emmys this year.

Ive seen ever episode of the show, minus like 3 or 4 they always seem to skip in re runs (heh something to look forward to!) and I love pretty much all of them. I love that episode you described. And Ray didnt want more money, he wanted to go out on top.
