As for the poll, this was hard!! I ended up choosing Wild Heart, but Bella Donna is SO close! I love them both!!!

Please fly away already!
Oh and I'm not voting in the pole because I love RAL and TISL equally and it's just too hard.

Hell yes. That's Alright is a superb little ditty. As much as I love Straight Back, it loses posts automatically for that line "And a song begins to begin/Like a wolf on the run." Ugh. Never really liked Angel, to be honest.

I see. But Sable on Blond loses no points for "In silence she says...Excalibur."

I LOVE the music to That's Alright and it's funny because I'm not a fan of country music and this song has that twang to it but it's just so catchy. Puts me in a great mood every time I hear it. And besides, how could you not like a song with such profound lyrics ;)
"Meet me down by
the railway station
I've been waiting
And I'm through waiting for you
The train sings the same kind of blues"

I think the chorus was underused actually. They only use the chorus twice, both times near the beginning, and after that it is never heard again. Three times is a good amount of chorus repetitions, but two is too few.

I love the wolf line in Straight Back. :blob2:
I vote Angel. I don't think it's a great vocal, I don't love the music, and the lyrics to the chorus sound like she's playing some rhyme game. Banana-bana-fo-Stevie...

Begins to begin?
Yawn. What an inane line.
The words have a great sense of rhythm, anyway.
And the first few times I heard it I thought she was singing a woman on the run, like the theme of the Baby Doll demo. Wolf was a relief.

Again...Excalibur?
Doesn't bother me. That whole album was essentially Stevie at her best: inane, goofy, rocking, and heartfelt. One reference to a mythical sword isn't anywhere near as awful as "Begins to begin" in my book.

In silence I say "Excalibur", too. It's hot.I agree, & her explanation of it makes sense. If we're going to pick on that song, why must she repeat the fell and this time lines so often?

What's rare is that she explained it when the album came out. She explains many of them, but usually not for several years.

I don't disagree with you. I adore Sable on Blonde. I just think it's odd that you find lyrics in some songs atrocious, causing you to dislike the entire song but you are willing to overlook what others consider subpar lyrics in other songs if the music or the rest of the lyrics are good.
I like the "Excalibur" line myself, but many don't. Just thought I'd throw it out there.
