As most of you know I was in London last week... I was fortunate enough not to be travelling through the centre of the city last Thursday. I was however right at the spot in Tavistock Square that the bus exploded only a day earlier and previously only a few days before was at Edgware Road station.
I got back home yesterday, checked my emails and read the latest news online, when I came across a picture of a familiar face....
Now I live just south of Manchester, UK which is something like 200 miles from London (it's a long way in terms of the UK, if not quite the world) but it turns out one of the regular customers I help at work was on this bus when it exploded.. Fortunately she only suffered minor injuries and has been interviewed about her experience.
Follow this link for her story - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4669793.stm
What are the chances of knowing somebody on that bus when neither of you came from London but were both in the London area at the time?
Just goes to show how small this planet can be...

Wow, that really is something. The world is much smaller than we think. I think that's sometimes good and sometimes bad.

Well Britain is particularly small compared to the rest of the universe. Then again, so is the United States. I've actually run into people living here in Orlando who have known friends of mine up in Tennessee and Atlanta. Somehow old friends long gone have ended up back in my life when I thought I'd never see them again. Yeah, small world.

Glad to hear she is safe and wasn't hurt much.
*sings* "It's a small world, after all, it's a small world, after all, it's a small world after all, it's a small, small world..."
It really is freaky when things like that happen, but I believe in divine destiny/intervention, so... I truly believe that some people enter our lives for a reason. Nevertheless, very weird.
Wait, am I a chiffonhead, now?! "Every thing happens for a reason..."

the world really is a small place....
last week i ran into a friend from high school at a restaurant... 500 miles away from where we grew up and went to school. we hadn't seen each other in 6 years! turns out he just moved here 2 months ago and is my coworker's roommate!
my grandparents were at a play in london and ran into their next door neighbors in the theater's lobby... and they live in a small city in central washington state! if that happened to me i might be so blown away that i would pee my pants!

Wow. I took a friend to the emergency once and my first boyfriend's mom was there for her son. He cut himself camping with his older brother, my ex. It was really strange.
In Woodstock '94 as a friend and me were pushing our way to the front I saw this guy I knew. There were 200,000+ people there!
