It sucks.

I really am sick of the perfect 10 casts, I mean good looking people are fine but don't get models and then really unattractive people, I mean can't we just have people with personality?? I'm pretty disappointed so far.

Bring back the Inferno, that was fun.

I was never really into those shows. The people are so sleazy (which makes people watch I guess  ). My sister has shared your sentiments tho, she hates the new Real World

The only reality TV I'm obsessed with is the new Surreal Life. Janice Dickinson is the funniest drama queen I've ever seen in my life. She reminds me of me!

Perfect 10 cast? Other than the guy from Boston with the messed up eye and the pretty girl (I think she's latin), I don't really think they're so gorgeous  At this point in the series, there are no surprises. Clearly people act out because there are cameras there. Back when the show first started, there was an element of unknown to it (because even the group didn't know what to do) but anymore? everything is such a put on. If nothing better is on and i'm desperate, i'll watch but i'm not into it.

Well, that line alone would have been hysterical no matter what but agreed; it was even more so due to said randomness. The preview of the entire season pissed me off though -- I hate Omorosa. I can't believe she tells Janice what an unfit mother she is, etc.

I like this new Real World season compared to the last one in Philly. That one IMO really sucked. I did like tho when Landon had the knifes and was like a madman and when the chick got scabees (sp?), but other than that it sucked. This one is at least keeping me entertained. Melinda looks exactly like Paris Hilton and is obviously a tramp. Nehemiah, Lacey and Johanna are all cool tho. :)

The Boston guy is kinda cute, but that skanky gal he likes...blergh. I'm so glad she makes out with the ugly blonde guy! Hee!! Leave the cute Bostonian alone, chick.

Surreal Life...watched it on VH-1.com on Saturday...wow. Lucky, the three-legged dog peeing in the house at the end...bwah! Jose is gross, I don't like big muscle-y guys. HATE Omarosa...ever since Apprentice. Bronson...he's kinda creepy, Janice...I wouldn't be able to live with her, she's too loud and obnoxious.

When I first saw her on that cliff I thought to myself, "ok, this is the chick that is going to be sleeping with every guy in the house and probably making out with another chick in the house."

That surgery procedure did not look like it would be a fun one. Going through the mouth and popping the bone back into place and then putting plates in. BLECH.

I am soooo excited for this season of The Surreal Life. I've seen every season so far and while most reality shows have lost my interest, this one never seems to get old. Janice is a trip! I wonder though - was that whole Bronson episode just for the cameras or is she really that crazy. And also, she said she was sober and in a 12-step program but she looked anything but sober to me last night. Any thoughts?
That Omorosa is such a cu*t and I never use that word but she really is. To insult someone's abilities on their mothering skills in unacceptable and how the heck would she know anyway? It's not like she's been around her and her kids. I cannot wait to see who this season pans out!
Jose is a real trip as well but how do all those women find him attractive? I think he's kinda gross and too big IMO.

OMG Janice was being so freakin rude when Pepa was talking and SHE was the one who asked the question in the first place! There is no way that woman was sober. She seemed really drunk to me yet I never saw her actually drinking but that is totally how drunk people act.
I have no idea who Caprice is either (well at least not before last night). She is apparantly a supermodel over-seas and her career took off in London even though she's from America. She's a snotty little one alright. I don't think she's that pretty. Typical barbie doll.

HOME: JULY 8, 2005: NEWS: TELEVISED ASSAULT, REAL ARREST
Televised Assault, Real Arrest
BY KEVIN BRASS With the help of MTV producers, Austin police arrested a 28-year-old South Austin man for punching Real World cast member Danny Jamieson in a Sixth Street brawl in January. Ryan Getman is facing two felony counts of aggravated assault from the incident, which was videotaped by MTV cameras and broadcast nationally in June. Jamieson waited until March to report the incident, which left him with multiple facial fractures and nerve damage, requiring surgery. According to court documents, MTV producers supplied police with video of the incident and told them they believed the man was named "Brian Getman," and supplied an address. Investigators compared pictures of Getman to the images of the incident, and Getman was arrested and released on bond.

Getman was indicted by a grand jury on June 10. He could not be reached for comment on deadline.

According to court documents, the fight stemmed from a "verbal confrontation" on Sixth Street. On video, Getman is seen shoving Wes, one of Jamieson's roommates, twice from behind, the arrest affidavit says. Jamieson was trying to break up the fight when he was pulled from behind and tripped and fell to the ground. He was on the ground when he was punched. The blow broke Jamieson's cheek and orbital bones, as well as fracturing several smaller bones around the eye socket. Despite surgery and regular visits to an eye doctor, he told the police the vision in his left eye remains blurry.

And here's another article about how the locals feel about MTV's portrayal of Austin so far on the RW:

HOME: JULY 8, 2005: NEWS: THE REAL AUSTIN?
The Real Austin?
BY KEVIN BRASS

Within two days of arriving in town, The Real World: Austin cast member Danny – aka the hunky one – was lying in the middle of Sixth Street, held down by a man in a black jacket who punched him so hard it shattered his eye socket.

Welcome to Austin!

Local business boosters trumpeted the presence of MTV's most popular reality show as a boon to tourism, a chance to really show the rest of the world that Austin is more than the home of Jenna Bush's favorite margarita bars. The Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau, using economic formulas beloved by tourism associations, calculated the show is worth $20 million in publicity for the city, based on the idea that every half-hour episode is a free ad. But after two episodes, it's clear that it may not be exactly the type of publicity city leaders crave, unless they're eager to market Austin as a great place to vomit in the street.

Even in the realm of MTV, the "seven strangers" gathered for the Austin cast are presented as remarkably shallow and alcoholic, uninterested in any concept beyond the ingredients of a daiquiri and the odds of hooking up before happy hour. (The one thing you'll never, ever see on The Real World – someone reading a book.) "Wes is like a typical frat guy and I love that about him," says Danny, gushing over his new roomie. He was doing far more gushing, however, over roomie Melinda, the blond cutie who is apparently using the show to audition for a career as a porn star. "Should I start humping the bed or what?" Melinda wails in episode two, distraught over a week of celibacy, as she eyes Danny's butt.

Cynthia Maddox, marketing and communications director of the ACVB, acknowledges she was a "little shocked" when she first tuned in the wacky adventures of the bed-hopping, shot-guzzlin' Austin gang. The first episode alone included scenes of several cast members drooling drunk, a physical confrontation between two toasted roommates in a club, a lesbian kiss in a hot tub, and gratuitous discourse on who was going to hook up – and of course the brawl on Sixth Street that sent Danny to the emergency room.

If all this makes Austin look like the cheap party ho of the South, local tourism officials are willing to roll with it. "We're known as the city to go to for a good time," Maddox says. While she may not want her daughter to watch the show, Maddox says it will help the city's image. "For the crowd that watches it," Maddox says, "quite frankly, it looks like they're having fun. It plays right to the crowd that this is intended for."

If nothing else, this target audience of hearty partiers is a far cry from the kids Mayor Will Wynn described as "young, energetic, educated, driven" who display "a passion for the outdoors and live music,'' when he proudly announced the show was coming to Austin. These vaguely educated, extremely energetic kids apparently won't be visiting the local museums any time soon, or swinging over to catch the latest offering of the Austin Ballet, unless the ballet starts a Hooters night. Their sphere of interest apparently doesn't extend far beyond the bathroom at the Dizzy Rooster.

Thanks to our MTV tour guides, viewers contemplating a summer trip to Austin have learned that it's best to show caution when asking youngsters on Sixth Street for directions, you need a taxi to get anywhere, and it's a swell place for drinking heavily if you're underage. Two of the cast members – Wes, the frat boy, and Nehemiah, the "black guy" – are 19, according to MTV, yet they are seen carousing in Sixth Street bars, which could be viewed as, well, "illegal." "I hate that it's being depicted that it's OK for someone 19 to be intoxicated in a bar," said Lt. Robert Saenz, district supervisor for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, who calls the scenes "very disturbing."

For all its quirks, The Real World is something of a cultural barometer, a concept that may send cold shivers through anyone who hasn't bonged a beer in the last 24 hours. Molly Alexander, associate director of the Downtown Austin Alliance, says she has been getting calls from all over the country about renting the party house (sorry, it's already leased). She hopes the show, despite the antics of the cast, will illustrate that it is "still hip and cool to be in the central city," and will entice younger people to live in downtown areas.

Carey Hart- Has as much flavor as wet soda crackers. BORING.
Omarosa- Snooty asshole.
Bronson Pinchot- Fat, balding, looks like he smells, and is just plain ass. *holds nose*
Caprice- Seems sweet, but very needy.
Janice- An animal. If I drank, I'd like to get cocked with her in some seedy bar while a certain Jimmy Buffett song played in the background.
Jose Conseco- Gross. Just gross and Janice got it right when she said "A conversation with him has a seven-second delay because all the steroids affected his brain."

I missed it last night since I was at Stevie so I'll catch one of the 200 re-runs. It's actually good this season because it has sucked since Las Vegas. I find myself really wanting to watch it. The nurse girl kind of bugs me though and the virgin girl with the short black hair totally bores the hell out of me. The Real World needs to be renamed "Drunk roomates making out and fighting". That pretty much sums up every season.

I don't much care for that girl either (short black hair girl). She really does like to create problems between the roomates. Rachel, the nurse, is getting on my nerves as well. Really, the only girl in the house that isn't bugging me is the one with the long brown hair that the one guy has a crush on.

In response to Danny in one of the other posts, I sort of figured Danny's mother ended up passing away. Wasn't she an alcoholic and drug addict? I wonder what happened? I think the most upsetting episode was back in Seattle where Lindsay's friend commited suicide. Speaking of Seattle, Stephen (http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/rwsteve1.html) got into some more trouble...

Prostituting? Sheesh. Perhaps he was, indeed, a homosexual?

Ya. Totally.

I could not believe that the Seattle cast let him stay after he slapped Irene.

I know. What's worse is I think the blonde is probably going to break his heart. I hope something goes right for that kid.

No kidding because shes a slut. She comes home every night saying "I wanna fu*k you so bad".

Stupid tramp.

You know what, Stephen? A relationship between you and I would never work out -- because you're a homosexual...

The more I watched the show, the more I disliked Irene but even so, heshould have never slapped her.

He cracked her a pretty good one. I can't believe the producers let him stay.

I guess maybe because at that point, she wasn't a cast member anymore, so he wasn't harming a fellow houseguest so it wasn't breaking the rules.

Still... :distress: They threw Stephen off of that Inferno show for a lot less.
