I hadn't even heard there was to be a record in 1984. I always thought that Iovine walked out during the RAL sessions. I'm not exactly sure if they're the same record or not.
There are certainly boots of what sound like finished or near finished songs to me for a possible record, i.e. All The Beautiful Worlds, Bell Flower, Beautiful Ghost, Tied Up In Promises, Something Exquisite, Baby Doll, All The Kings Horses, Mistaken Love, Jimmy Come Back (I would love to hear a clear version of this song because she really rocks out on it) Takes A Long Time and I'm probably forgetting some.

I hadn't even heard there was to be a record in 1984.I never knew about an album in 1984, either. But I knew there was going to be a tour, kicked off with a big appearance at the old Anaheim stadium on a bill with David Bowie & others. John Lennon's son -- what's his name? -- who had a hit then was going to open for the Stevie Nicks tour.
I'm really bummed this didn't happen because she was so good on her tour in 1983. she was still doing the blow so she was excellent. What a rock 'n' roller! What a star! What a presence! What a voice!

The only thing I can really add to this is that the original title for Rock A Little was Mirror Mirror. When Stevie nixed the song, she nixed the title as well.
Iovine did walk out during the RAL sessions. He was tired of Stevie's coke habit. He was not fired, as some speculate. He quit out of frustration. Stevie was rebellious at that time, thought she was on top of the world, and she didn't need his advice. So he left. Good for him, bad for Stevie and all of us. RAL was delayed a few times, and probably would have seen a 1984 release if it had not been for the conflicts with Jimmy.

Here is an interesting and infromative link to an old thread from this board about this topic:

Supposedly this 1984 album was supposed to be "dark and edgy". Sounds good to me!
It also sounds like Stevie had collaborated and had plans to collaborate with such rock greats like Bob Seger and Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits. Man why did Jimmy Iovine have to walk out?!?

Let's hope all these tracks make it on the bonus disc for the re-release! :blob1:

Stevie has always been fairly rebellious. I knew Jimmy walked out and pretty much deduced why, I just didn't know the particular time frame. I didn't think he walked out until '85.
Also, didn't she pull Mirror Mirror because some guy stole the song from her? David would know more about that.

Julian. But now I can't remember the name of the song.
She and Bowie would've made an interesting combo.

There's a boot out there from the Wild Heart tour (July in Alpine Valley?) where she says something to the effect of "I met David Bowie at the US Festival and he had nothing to say to me."

Because he told her from the very begining that he wasn't going to tolerate certain things from her. She tested his boundaries and came to find out that he meant what he said. Not to mention, I think Jimmy was starting to move on to other things at that point in his career.

One of my favorites.
He also had a hit with "Too Late For Goodbyes," but "Saltwater" is his best piece, IMO.

But I know she pulled "Battle of the Dragon," which was going to be her Tom Petty duet for "Rock a Little," because Rob got the demo. He played it for Lori on the phone, & Lori called him back to try to meet him & "discuss" it.

Sorry, I must have gotten the two songs confused or it was someone else who told the Mirror Mirror story.

I think the earliest we would have seen any album is 1985. Stevie's never been able to crank out an album in less than two years. The Wild Heart was still charting in '84.

They're all out there somewhere. I don't know how active WinMX is these days but that might be one place.
A lot of the web sites also have downloads, although I think a lot of people are posting the recent live shows right now. Look around. :)
