These days how often do you here Stevie and Fleetwood Mac on FM radio?
Mostly on classic rock stations once or twice a week and on Easy listening stations once a while. on top 40 stations you will get a couple of weeks on the playlist when released and no more airplay when it falls off charts. Me NO Personaly I dont hear much of Stevie and Fleetwood Mac on the radio in my area, especaily Stevie . So I'm going to start a campaign on emailing, calling, sending snail mail. to these stations to play more Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac tunes, I know the stations will give you a bunch of crap about Stevie and Fleetwood Mac dont fit into the times anymore unless they have a rap crap tune out to play on a top40 station.Give them a break. instead of this Rap crap,Heavy metal noise and bubblegum crap shove down our throats, every time we turn on the radio. So join me to get Stevie more radio airplay. She deserves to get more airplay, and some songs we fans never hear on the radio besides "SDMHA" "Stand Back" "Dreams" "Gypsy""Leather and Lace" I love to hear these songs I would like to hear some others too.alot to list here.
P.S. I guest it's time to load up my Rio player and put it on repeat.with Stevie tunes. probably better off.

I hear Christine the most. Over My Head, You Make Loving Fun, Don't Stop, Say You Love Me, etc. One of the big stations in my area loves Ms. McVie and even interviewed her when In the Meantime came out. The interviewers don't fawn much, but they went gaga for her.

It's never enough. I did hear If Anyone Falls last Sunday on my way to work. I was pretty f-ing shocked. A few months ago, I heard After The Glitter Fades on the same station. "The Mountain". They specialize in what they call 'deep album cuts'. Ironically, I heard both of these during their Sunday morning news program....it's called Second Hand News. The best thing about this station....?.....is Breakfast with the Beatles every Sunday.

KBCO here in Denver used to play Sorcerer at least once a day....but not anymore. Though, I do anticipate that Stevie will be back there again this year for another Studio C exclusive recording.

I hear a lot of it out here. My best friend works at a Giant Eagle and she hears at least 2-3 Stevie/ Fleetwood Mac songs a day, usually Talk to Me, Edge of Seventeen, Leather and Lace or The Chain.

I applaud your initiative - and your idealism. I hate to tell you, though, that these days, very few "program directors" even program their own stations. Everything is controlled by companies like Clear Channel and record companies - they pay for a certain amount of air time for their "featured artists." Even the so-called listener request hours are all programmed. Ditto the Top 6 at 6 type shows wihch are presumably programmed by listeners. They're not. :sorry:

Now, there are obviously exceptions to this rule. There must be stations out there which aren't controlled by record companies or Clear Channel. Sadly, I don't believe there are enough. I miss the days when a DJ could play a song because he or she thought it was worth playing. Nowadays, in major markets at least, DJs have no say. They get a list, it's all digitized; it's not even being played out of their own booth. I think it's very sad. It all sounds the same - or at least, one mix station in one city is ging to sound exactly like the one in the next city. Ditto the urban station, the top-40 station, the modern rock station, etc. And they wonder why listenership is going down?

Sorry for the diatribe. *jumps down off the soapbox*

Oh, and I do think you should do what you're planning! Every little bit counts. Maybe eventually they'll realize fans like a variety of music - even the "oldies" that aren't current top-10 hits. Good luck! :)

I certainly hope so. I used to hear Planets a lot when TISL came out.

Don't be sorry. I agree with everything you said. I haven't listened to the radio on a regular basis for quite some time for these very reasons.

Pittsburgh seems to love Stevie (just take a look at how many Burgh-ers are on this here message board alone!), so our radio stations play her pretty frequently. Definitely more than Christine and Lindsey combined.

But, for me, it's still never enough!

Ya I've been following the radio bizz for 25 years, now Clear Channel owns most stations in this country so they have the say what to play. I hope the arbitron ratings go into the toilet.D.J's .PD's. are sheep.

I don't listen to the radio.....I do hear her a lot on Musac.I listen for about an hour, hour and a half, when I'm getting bathed and dressed at the beginning of my day.
I like to stay abreast of what the kids today are listening to... and I'm tellin' ya, that Phil Collins is goin' places!

The only thing that really bugs me about not enough Stevie/Mac play on the radio, is the fact that you only hear the over played songs. I mean, I love EO17, Rhiannon, Stand Back, Don't Stop, The Chain, etc.... but there are a million other Stevie/Mac songs that were hits too, and even the ones that didn't get much air play, they've gained popularity with fans. I think that I heard Sara and Songbird maybe ONCE on the radio a few years ago, and never again. I'd probably die of shock if I heard Angel or Sisters of the Moon randomly one day. I don't know, maybe that's just how it is in Philly or NY  They have Breakfast with the Beatles here too, it would be cool if they did something like that for Fleetwood Mac, digging into the archives, interviews, demos and stuff..... one can only dream

We have two classic rock stations and a few easy listening stations -- I hear both Fleetwood Mac and Stevie solo a lot. Nothing from TISL nor anything from SYW but I still do hear them on a regular basis. In fact, this week on 102.9 WMGK, their star guitar of the week they're giving away is signed by Fleetwood Mac. With a history as rich as this bands and as Stevie's solo career, you can't get away with NOT playing them on these stations. As catinthedark was saying, you're not going to see Stevie on a station that plays top 40 hits nor should we expect to hear them. In the current climate of this industry, it's not going to fly. Sad but true.

I hear Stevie and Fleetwood Mac quite a bit here. The only time I hear Lindsey is at a resturant and the song is always Trouble.

Christine is pretty popular with my dentist's staff.

I totally agree with what you said here. A great example of a song that never gets played is Think About Me, from Tusk. It was a single, and is a great song, and seems to have been utterly forgotten by radio.

I remember when Maybe Love was first released, right before Street Angel. My friend Siet used to call me (and I her) everytime we heard it. It was kind of fun, but the song disappeared after a couple of weeks. I recall the shock at finding a Blue Denim Promo CD single at a local record store....I was, like, "What? This was a single?" I have NEVER heard it on the radio, ever.

The Breakfast with the Beatles thing....once, last year, they switched it up and did Breakfast with Led Zepplin. That was really cool.

Regarding the Mac, you'd thing that a band with almost 40 years of history would get some more airtime! And Stevie, too!

I used to call this local station all the time and request Steal Your Heart Away. The DJ would say, 'okay, sure, I'll get that on as soon as I can.' But it never actually got played. :distress:

Exactly what I was thinking  Maybe if the DJs took the time to play a few different songs here and there or at least play people's requests  , they would be able to reintroduce these songs to people again. I have to admit though, I got into Stevie & Fleetwood Mac just from listening to the radio as a kid, its not like I had a computer back then, or any money to buy CDs. It wasn't until my early teens that I actually started buying music. Who knows, maybe the word will get around and we'll get our wish ;)

No, Stevie is not played enough on the radio. Atleast not here in Cinci. The classic rock station will play FM and Stevie sometimes but thats about it. Q102 is a mix station (Todays best hits and the best hits of the 90's. They used to play 80's, too.) I heard "Dreams" on that station at 2am the other day. And that station plays Rap sometimes, too. So I was pretty surprised!

The thing that REALLY pisses me off though, is that I wish I could hear other Stevie songs on the radio other than "Edge" , "Stand Back", "Leather & Lace", or "Dreams" or "Rhiannon".

Songs like "If Anyone Falls" and "I Can't Wait" would be perfect for any station that plays 80's music. But I have never heard EITHER of these songs on the radio in my life.

"Seven Wonders" and "Rooms On Fire" would also fit into any 80's station playlist. Maybe a "Late 80's" themed weekend or something.

Another song I would die if I ever heard on the radio would have to be "Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind". It's a nice little ditty that I always thought had radio potential. It's kinda sad.

I have the radio on 24/7 in my house, and when I have it on the classic rock stations, I hear SLN/FM atleast two times a day. But it is always the overplayed songs. 80% of the time, it's Dreams being played, or Gypsy (although I never tire of either).
Every once in a while, they'll play Edge of Seventeen, and maybe SDMHA, but that's it for solo work.
As for the soft rock station, they play quite a bit of Mac/Stevie. I'll catch Landslide (The Dance) quite a bit, and Leather and Lace ever so often. But the most played on that station too, would have to be Gypsy.
So yeah...they're pretty good about playing them here!
