I have a question and thought who better to ask than all of you--are any of you on your feet all day long--especially on concrete?? if so, what brand of shoes do you wear? I need new work shoes as my new sketchers are going to be the death of me yet! My feet and legs have never hurt :( so bad ever! I work extremely long hours and have been pulling 6 day work weeks for a couple months until we get another guy in here(I work the parts counter at a GM dealership--been here 17 years on Monday) and I wondered what anyone else had good luck and comfort with so I had an idea before spending money on another pair of shoes-- :wavey:

Well, running shoes have lots of cushion for the heel. Is there any way to get off of your feet at work? It's just that being on concrete is just not going to be comfortable. Can they put down a rubber mat or something to help absorb some of the shock/pressure? For standing on behind the counter it shouldn't even be that expensive.
Try doing a google search and also try your doctor to get a referral to a podiatrist. Why not just go straight to an expert? Good luck, and I hope you feel more comforable soon.

I worked for three years on concrete and though against the law, in the summer time at a pool store, lunch breaks were not an option when short staffed. I ran around for 9 and 10 hours in sketchers and adidas sneakers. After a while they became uncomfortable so I put some Dr Scholl's in my shoe. Though it doesn't completely alleviate the problem, it did help quite a bit  Try them out!

I used some of those Dr. Scholls gel inserts with my Stevie boots and they helped ALOT. I know that's a bit different than working on your feet all day, but if they took a pare of cheap ebay 5 inch platform heels and made them wearable, I'd think they'd help for working some, too.

I wear nothing but Adidas, pretty much, but my feet were hurting from walking all day on cement at a festival. I went out and got these Dr. Scholls inserts. They helped quite a bit.
I bought a pair of Merrell clogs from Nordstrom about a year ago. I used them at the hospital when I was doing overnight call every 4 days, and they worked GREAT. One day I tried wearing my tennis shoes instead, and my feet were on fire the whole day. A lot of nurses and residents recommended Merrells, and I have loved them since. The ones I got are black and look pretty nice. I mean, I wore them with slacks and a shirt and tie and they looked fine. I just know when I first heard "clog," I thought they were going to look ridiculous...and some do. But, there are some good looking ones out there, too. I am about to get a new pair as I really wore these out this past year. Pretty reasonably priced for the comfort they afford...I think about $70.
Anyway, just my 2 cents. Good luck. Comfortable shoes are one of the best investments you can make if you're on your feet a lot.

I wear Doc Marten boots with the Dr. Scholls insoles. Both 'doctors' help me out quite a bit.

speaking of stevie boots, any ideas where we can find boots like stevie's? i've seen some sites that have them but they are only up the the ankle or the heel is too chunky or the platform is too tall - never quite right. i'd love a pair of suede boots.

I have never found the perfect pair. It's the heel that I always have a problem with. Always too chunky. I've got a couple different pairs and non of them are perfect. None are really suede either. A couple are fake suede and I have one vinyl pair.

I loved my Nike work boots!!! they were brown leather and I had a couple of pairs but the last several years I couldn't find them anymore and switched to Sketchers-never had a real problem til I wore these Sketcher leather shoes-not boots. I have to stay in dark colors as it is uniformed for us to wear dark brown or black and nothing else. I bought the Dr Scholl massaging inserts but that had not helped much  . I know it was a goofy question but thanks to all who gave me input-I just needed some different ideas

I was going to mention DMs too. I love mine.
I also have a couple of pairs of Clarks clogs that are nice. But the most comfortable shoes I own are a pair of sandals made by Softspots.

For the most part, the only shoes I wear anymore are Converse Chuck Taylors. Not only are they incredibly comfortable for me, but I love collecting the different colors too! They're not always the perfect shoes for everyone, but I do a lot of walking around where I work and they usually help me to keep my feet comfortable.

NIKES are right there!
I wore Adidas and they killed my feet.
I do many double digit hour shifts at Dominos where you can't sit down or anything and Nikes keep my feet from hurting.
The Dr Scholl inserts actually would hurt my feet...but I have no arch really and my feet like to be as flat as possible.
But Nike sneaks work great, invest in a 60 dollar pair and I wear mine every day of my life and they usually go for a year and then I get a new pair I wear every single day. I think that works well for me.
