hiya! this has probably been discussed somewhere here before but its just something ive been wondering about for literally ages and i wanted your takes on it. i know what lindsey and christine have said about each other in the more recent years (mainly since she left - which lindsey seemed quite bitter about so there you go!) but on the dance video there are some seriously intense stares going on! i know people say that its stevie and lindsey looking at each other, but at the angle hes looking at hes actually looking right past her (or over her (:sorry: i love stevie!)) at chris, whos looking right back at him most of the time, ESPECIALLY during bleed to love her! i was just wondering what you thought about that! i just wonder if there was ever a possibility that there was something going on between these two! -the staring is very intense!!!
btw, i LOVE stevies blatent glaring at lindsey during the chain! its so funny! she hardly blinks!

One British newspaper, well I say newspaper more like a filthy rag actually, reported that Lindsey left the band because he was in love with Christine! But then The Sun never lets the truth get in the way of a good story and usually can only be relied upon to get two things right each day - the date and the price.
However the Daily Mail which has a better record for accuracy (although is xenophobic, homophobic and mysoginist) reported a similar thing and said that she left Lindsey for Eddy.
I doubt if there's ever been anything "going on" between them.
I'd like to know who she smiles at towards the end of You Make Loving Fun - it can't be Lindsey because she's looking the wrong way.
It's not an innocent look :xoxo: - could it have been Eddy or had things gone pear-shaped by then?

No chance at all. I think there was a musical relationship between the two, that's it. Chris has said in several interviews that they weren't really friends, let alone anything more than that.

I always assumed that it was Eddy, but why not Curry Grant? She did write the song about him.

And do you happen to have these articles to share w/ the rest of the class?! Don't be a tease! Even if it's rubbish I'd love to see them!!!!!

I know the look, but it never struck me as all that intense. ?? I just thought she was kinda caught up in the song and her face reflected that.
I don't think things were pear-shaped w/ Eddy at that time (is that a British expression? very cute. :p )
Also IMO, LB and Chris never had anything more than a great professional/musical relationship... Although if they'd had a drunken one night stand or whatever at some point, I don't know that I'd be all that shocked. But I still doubt it.

I have heard her say that she and Lindsey were close and that he would do anything for her if she asked.

yea she definently said that, and that she'd "grown to love him" but that was back around rumours time, the not so nice stuff was more recent in 'the bitter years'.

i wouldn't be shocked either, that was just the kind of feeling i got from it, even though it seemed more intense than that, i dunno, maybe they were trying to wind up stevie by both ignoring the intense glaring!

I think they were pretty close just from all the articles i've read.

To me, it was as if they were enjoying singing together in those Bleed to Love Her moments. I have been in a band, and that's kinda of what you do onstage with bandmates...whether you like/love them or not.

Sorry I don't have the articles in question it was way back in about 87/88. As I recall I think The Sun article was a small item in their pop/rock gossip column but the Daily Mail was an article about Lindsey.
The Dance was recorded in 1997 and she came back to England I believe in 98 so I'd always thought that things were starting to go wrong (pear-shaped) about that time.

She was still mentioning Eddy in interviews right after the Dance CD was released. In one interview she mentioned that she and Eddy would be moving permamently back to the U.K. in late 1998. She ended up moving in early 1998 by herself. I think things officially ended during the Dance tour in the fall of 1997.

Interesting. I guess that's why the Dance tour was cut short.

Maybe he decided he didn't want to live in England or maybe he does "care for sunny weather"

Yes. I believe she was open to doing more shows in 1998(Europe, Japan & the U.S.) That's why she was going wait to move back to the U.K. until late 1998. Then when her marriage ended during the Dance tour, she just wanted to get back home to her family & start her new life. That's my theory anyway. :)

I've heard that he's now a U.S. citizen, so I guess we're stuck with him. :( I really wish that he lived on the moon.

 I think he had a good musical relationship with Christine, something that he couldn't have with Stevie because she wasn't really a musician. I think it's evident when looking at World Turning and the Tango album (which I like to refer to as the Buckingham McVie album :D ) that they had a good and fruitful musical relationship.

Yes, that's what happened. I'd rather not say too much more though. Here's an earlier thread in this forum with pictures of Eddy & his girlfriend.

Not only have the two of them talked about how enjoyable & EASY it is to play with each other, but if you listen to some of the things Lindsey does on guitar, you can hear him emulating Christine's licks; & vice-versa -- you can hear Christine emulate Lindsey's licks from time to time.
Listen to something on which they're both riffing & you can hear this phenomenon. It's quite interesting.
Had Stevie & Lindsey been able to engage in this match-riffing, it might have saved their relationship, I have little doubt.

Actually their musical relationship looked to me like that between Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky. I would have loved to see Christine work on SYW also to keep at bay Lindsey's overindulgence. JMO.

Yeah but it might have had something to do with Lindsey too. Remember he was only signed up to do 40 or so dates in the States. He may have changed his mind towards the end the tour but I remember him saying that in several guitar mags during that period.

Several years ago someone on the Ledge described the Christine/Lindsey musical relationship this way: Chris had a tendency to be a bit too safe, while Lindsey tended to veer a bit too much towards left field. Chris kind of reined him in and brought him back more to the the acceptable mainstream & Lindsey nudged her out a bit to take a few more chances. They met somewhere in the middle, which turned out to be just perfect for Fleetwood Mac.

(For Duster) is the last track on the bonus disc of the Rumours re-issue that was released that year.
