Don't holidays suck? It's so busy and I didn't get to enjoy my 4th at all. The fireworks were so close and I could see them from the front of my store but people kept calling and I didn't get to watch.

I work for Dominos. The 5 5 5 is cool but my GOD, it's all people order. So three orders...that's 9 pizzas at least and I am by myself from 8pm to 1 Am and so I have to work my butt off, and it sucks.

I just wondered if anyone here works for like Papa Johns or Dominos because it can really suck...:)

Oh, and I didn't even leave until 1 AM so now it's 2:15 AM and I have to be at work at 10 AM. That's another great thing...no sleep during the week. At least on weekends I close so I can sleep in.

The being by yourself part has to suck. At least with a friend stressful work can be fun once in awhile.

I can't imagine working for a pizza chain would be much fun. I should probably work for one, though--maybe it would turn me off of pizza and I wouldn't like to eat it as much as I do

That's the only good thing about where I work--because they don't want to pay us time and a half, we always have holidays off.

That's one of those jobs I just could NOT do unless they were paying me about $20 an hr. I dont know how you do it, Janet.

Janet, that does suck. I worked in retail for 5 years during college and for a little while after and I always had to work weekends and most holidays, I hated it.

This is none of my business but have you ever thought of doing anything else? With your management experience there would probably be a lot of people out there who would love to have you and treat you much better.
That said, I can't believe so many people were ordering pizza on the Fourth. Don't most folks usually picnic and barbecue? Certainly not everyone is a hermit like me?

I work at the franchising office for a pizza chain. Let me tell you the customer complaint line is AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!! When that line rings I just want to run and hide. I couoldn't imagine working in an actually restaraunt. My relatives started a big St. Louis pizza chain in 1964....I worked in a store for 2 nights before I was fired, er, I mean quit. :o

Used to work for Pete Zahutt many moons ago (hey...sorry to repeat the same line) Holidays were the worst...but oddly enough, Super Bowl Sunday wasn't NEARLY as busy as I was expecting...three years running, it was almost DEAD on SBS.

The night before Thanksgiving was the busiest night of the year.

I have worked at Dominos since 1998. I started as a driver and now I manage a store. I worked myself up. I don't make $20 an hour that's for sure. I make a decent salary but bonus is where the money is. Some managers get thousands extra a month, but I work for a low volume store.

Since my car was stolen tho, my owner had to help get me a car. So now my bonus goes right to that.

So now I get to work 60 plus hours a week and I don't get to see a dime of it. I have been a manager a year and I am not getting a raise for some weird reason ( I have brought that store from like 8000 a week to almost 12,000 some weeks) Two weeks ago I was 45% positive! LAst week was 22%

UGH, I know I should leave but until the car is paid off, I can't. Now my salary is less because I have insurance so I am really barely making ends meet and there is NOTHING I can do.

About 10 years ago, when I was about 18 or so, I used to deliver for Papa Johns. Sometimes I would go in if we were slow and help out, but most of the time I just drove. Then, I had a major wreck while going back after making a couple of deliveries, and I haven't worked in food service since! It completly totalled my car. I was in a 1984 Mustang, and I was hit by a 1973 Buick.... can you say BOAT?? Anyhow, if anyone were sitting in the passenger side, it would have killed them.

That DOES suck! I've worked several different jobs for an airline so I know what you mean about working holidays, weekends, weird shifts, etc. I could never enjoy summer or Christmas because those were the busiest times of the year. Luckily, I recently transferred to a new department where I work more of a 9-5 type job in an office.

Good luck to you, life is really tough sometimes... I've been telling myself that a lot this past year. :(

Quantify all of that stuff using the numbers above and ask for a raise? I also need to do this so I should take my own advice since I haven't seen a raise in 3 years. More than that but that was a different job.

Seriously Janet, you've earned a raise and you deserve it. I'm sorry you have to work so hard and nothing really ever seems to come from it (Petty). You will get out of this period though. Hang in there.
