Well what the hell, even though it's a few hours too early...Happy fourth of July...

I hear the fireworks booming right now (even though they are illegal in GA) lol

1776 Baby! The year it all began...hopefully it's not 2076 by the time we restore some peace around here...

Blah. Bush will be a few miles down the road from me tomorrow. Security and traffic will be a pain. I won't be leaving the apartment. I'll try to have a good 4th.... :rolleyes:

I am not a fan of doing my own fireworks - but I enjoy a good professional show :D

Have a good and safe fourth everyone - hopefully no Ledgies will get their eyes blown out by rabid fireworks - that would be bad!!

And I'm with you, Deanna. The professional fireworks are really impressive to watch. I'm scared to do my own.

Me and my friend were walking around the neighborhood and almost got blown up by the neighbors doing their fireworks... :thumbsup:

Of course no one mentioned they would be lighting one off right when we happened to be walking by. Assholes.

It's my parents' anniversary. (A long marriage. Mom wore shiny white lipstick to the wedding.)

They've outlawed (unofficial) fireworks here & folks are talking revolution. You'd think the government were threatening to take away their guns. :rolleyes:

And again, just 'cause I love these songs:

Fireworks
Music & Lyrics: Lynn Ahrens
Sung by: Grady Tate

Ooh! There's gonna be fireworks }} Fireworks!
On the Fourth of July. }} Red, white and blue!
Red white and blue fireworks,
Like diamonds in the sky. }} Diamonds in the sky!
We're gonna shoot the entire works
On fireworks that really show, oh yeah...
We declared our liberty 200 years ago.

In 1776 }} Fireworks!
There were fireworks too }} Red, white and blue!
The original colonists,
You know their tempers blew. }} They really blew!
Like Thomas Paine once wrote,
It's only common sense }} Only common sense!
That if a government won't give you
Your basic rights,
You'd better get another government.

And though some people tried to fight it,
Well a committee was formed to write it:
Benjamin Franklin, Philip Livingston,
John Adams, Roger Sherman, Thomas Jefferson.
They got it done... }} Oh yes they did!
The Declaration. Uh huh!
The Declaration of Independence, }} Oh yeah!
In seventeen hundred seventy six. }} Right on!
The Continental Congress said that
We were free.
They said we had the right of life and liberty...
{And the pursuit of happiness.}

When England heard the news, }} Ah!
They blew their stack. }} They really blew their
}} cool!
But the colonists lit the fuse,
There'd be no turning back. }} No turnin' back!
They'd had enough injustice now,
But even if it really hurts, oh yeah!
If you don't give us our freedom now,
You're gonna see some fireworks.

Now on the fourth of July they signed it,
And 56 names underlined it.
And now to honor those first 13 states,
We turn the sky into a birthday cake.
They got it done... }} Oh yes they did!
The Declaration. Uh huh!
The Declaration of Independence, }} Oh yeah!
In seventeen hundred seventy six. }} Right on!
The Continental Congress said that
We were free.
They said we had the right of life and liberty...
{And the pursuit of happiness.}

}} {We hold these truths to be self-evident:}
}} {That all men are created equal.}
}} {That they are endowed by their creator...}
}} {With certain unalieable rights.}
}} {That among these...}
}} {Are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness!}

And if there's one thing that makes me happy,
Then you know that's it's...
There's gonna be fireworks!

Happy 4th of July :woohoo:

We just came back from lighting about $400 worth of fireworks with friends. It was a lot of fun and much better than tomorrow's show in town. Had a great time hanging out with friends and the kids enjoyed themselves alot.

I hated my microeconomics class..but I also had an 80 year old professor who talked VERY slow, had his pants pulled up way past his belly button, and wore the only tie I have ever seen that was straight across on the bottom, instead of going down into a V

Was it a knit tie? Those were big in the 80s.

I guess I was pretty lucky; I had a decent microeconomics professor (and class). But then again, I minored in economics, LOL.

Happy 4th, everyone!

I'm not doing much today, more work around the house and just relaxing. I'm not interested in fighting the traffic and crowd to see fireworks. I can watch 'em on TV and tune in my radio to the simulcast, but I doubt I'll do that either. :shrug:

Exactly, that is the way I feel. I can't be bothered with the crowds either. Some friends were thinking of going to see the parade in Bristol. My reaction was "are you nuts?" I don't know if they ever made it there.
Maybe I'll go and get some clam cakes and ice cream but that is about it. I didn't get invited anywhere.

Yeah - my aversion to crowds usually wins and I've just rented Saw and Kinsey lol - so I'm just going to hang at home for the rest of the day/tonight.

Fireworks are illegal here - but that hasn't stopped my ghetto-ass neighbors from lighting them - not so much a problem now - if they're still doing it at midnight, however, I won't be a happy American :mad:

Yeah, they light them here in RI, too. It happens everywhere I think. To be honest here in RI there aren't really that many places that have fireworks anymore. About 15 years ago just about every city or town had some kind of display.

I also have some great stuff to watch. ;) i guess that is what I'll be doing later tonight.

I can't believe that fireworks are illegal in so many places. I could understand somewhere like Arizona or New Mexico, somewhere hot and dry. We have fireworks stands everywhere you turn here. We were lighting them off Saturday night with the kids, I went to bed last night, and tonight I'm taking Sara to the carnival, and we're going to watch the display in my little town.

Certain types like the non-arial fireworks are legal in CT and of course there is a store that sells them right over the RI border where they are illegal.
My friend bought a whole kit full of things. They lighted them last night. They were just glorified sparklers which I don't see anything wrong but they are still illegal here in RI.

Hope everyone has had a safe and fun day so far and have fun with any fireworks shows you see tonight!

We are going to Granbury, Texas (small town about 20 minutes away) to see some fireworks later. They also are having food, arts and crafts for sale and stuff in the downtown area.

I got invited over my friend's house at about 7PM. It was nice and we got to see the fireworks across the bay. I thought that I would be spending the 4th at home all day for a while. :(
